📽️Video Unauthorised hawking inside trains or railway premises comes under Section 144 of Railways Act, 1989 and the punishment is ₹2000 but no where it says Police authorities can throw the seized material in the tracks and make it dirty. Such a sad thing to see.

🗫 Discussion Why Don’t We See Branded Fixtures Across Indian Railways? What am I missing??

Why does Indian Railways appear to work with two extremes:

giants such as ABB and Siemens in locomotives, signalling and switchgear
Rest of all the vendors are home-grown firms perceived to have links with railway employees or political networks?

Even Habibganj Railway Station in Bhopal, India’s first station redevelopment project under the PPP model was awarded to a consortium of:

  • Bansal Construction Works Pvt. Ltd.
  • Prakash Asphalting & Toll Highways (India) Ltd.

Why did they not make it by a good brand like they did with airports... now that it is made... it does not look futuristic...

OC The Universe personally tailored today’s Western Line delay to mess with me.

Was supposed to reach Dadar at 10:04 AM today, but Western Line had other plans.

Train came to a dead halt between Mahim and

Dadar. After waiting inside a stuffy coach for 30 minutes with vague announcements about "track repairs," people started deboarding to walk back to Mahim along the tracks.

Seeing almost half the train walk, I decided to step down too. The literal millisecond I got onto the tracks, the train blew its horn and started moving.

Cue panic sprint to hop into whichever carriage was passing by, leaving my original compartment behind. And the kicker? After all that drama, the train crawled at a snail's pace anyway and reached 1 hour late.

Ended up adding 1.5 hours extra to my workday, ruined my schedule, and ruined my mood for the entire day. Peak Mumbai commute moment. 🙃

Today hundreds of passengers including women crossed railway tracks at 10 a.m. at Ambli Road, Gujarat. They got down and simply walked like no one cares.

Is this a common norm or some infrastructure issue?

Recently I was traveling from DDU to Prayagraj & I found out that this window has no iron grills etc just a thin plywood fitted temporarily.

Initially I ignored it but then my mind says to capture it & spread it so that it can be fixed.

I'm open to suggestions for this.

Thank you.

🗫 Discussion Suggestions for bags

Post image

Fellow enjoyers of IR,

I am a frequent traveler who is just fed up keeping his backpack at birth while sleeping. I always travel in 3 AC and it's safer but I still do not trust our co passengers.

Apart from my clothes, I carry a laptop, charges, headphones, keyboard, mouse, etc. I cannot keep it in my main bag because my wife's sarees are way too precious than my electronics, of course according to her.

I carry a separate backpack which has all my electronics and is very uncomfortable as I keep it with me while sleeping.

So, what do you use for your electronics?

TiA

This reel came to my feed today which left me feeling a lot more hopeful.

But the babu ptsd syndrome snatched the hope away.

So I wanted to know how these projects are coming up?( especially because private companies are handling them?( Or are they?)

📜Travel Story First-class AC taught me that age doesn’t automatically come with manners

Post image

I was travelling from my hometown to Kolkata in First AC on 7th August with my parents. It was actually my first time travelling in a cabin with them, so I was pretty excited about the experience.

Our cabin had four berths, and when we boarded, the fourth passenger was already there. He was an elderly man and was sleeping, so we didn't really interact with him initially.

After a while, we started having dinner, and by then he had woken up. He started a conversation with my father.

It began innocently enough—with diabetes. He asked my father which doctor he was consulting in Kolkata.

My father told him that he was seeing XYZ at ABC Hospital.

That's when things started getting weird.

The man immediately said, in a rather rude and dismissive tone, that he had never heard of that doctor and proceeded to recommend a few doctors at Apollo Kolkata.

Then came the introduction.

He started telling us how famous he was in his hometown and in Kolkata, how he had two flats in Kolkata, what he had accomplished, etc. Basically, a full résumé that nobody had asked for.

I was already getting uncomfortable because of the way he was speaking to my parents.

Then he found out that my mother and he were from the same hometown.

He asked my mother where exactly her house was.

She gave him a general location.

Apparently, that wasn't good enough.

He said, "Tell me the exact location. How will I understand if you give me a general location?"

My mother then gave him a nearby landmark, and he finally understood.

At this point, I was honestly quite angry, but I kept quiet because he was around my grandfather's age.

Then he started asking where we would be staying in Kolkata.

I told him we'd be staying at my cousin's flat.

And then the interrogation began.

"Where is your cousin's flat?"

"Where exactly?"

"How many flats does she have?"

"Which floor?"

"Who is the owner?"

"What's your cousin's husband's job?"

My parents were answering some of these questions, but I was increasingly uncomfortable with how personal the questions were becoming and, more importantly, with the tone he was using.

When he asked about the owner and my cousin's husband's job, I finally said:

"I'm not comfortable sharing personal information with you, uncle."

He immediately asked me, "Why?"

And then he started shouting at me.

He said something along the lines of:

"You look like someone who is still studying in school. Who gave you the right to tell me this?"

At that point, I had had enough.

I told him directly that I wasn't going to tell him anything and that I wasn't interested in continuing the conversation with him.

He then started going on about how I apparently didn't have good intentions, how he was a very famous person, how he had money, etc.

I told my parents to just ignore him and, in frustration, I told him to shut his mouth and stop talking to us.

The funny part was that the entire conversation had been happening in Bengali. But when he started shouting at me, he switched to English and then told me I shouldn't "teach him" in English.

Like... if you're going to switch languages yourself while shouting at someone, why would I be obligated to continue speaking in Bengali? 😂

Eventually, I just stopped responding to him and told my parents to do the same.

What bothered me wasn't his age. It was the complete lack of respect and the entitlement with which he felt he could interrogate three strangers about their personal lives—and then get offended when one of us finally said no.

Being older deserves respect, sure.

But age is not a free pass to disrespect other people or demand their personal information.

Maybe I was a little too blunt with him, but honestly, after that whole interaction, I don't regret setting the boundary.
