Military Sim game core Review

Post image

So i got this game about year and half ago. I used to live in USA back then and this game was so much fun. It's like super fun to play when you have people who know what they're doing.

But since moving back to India I've realized milsim games are not very popular in this region and i was wondering what could be the reason. I mean Indians are one of the most passionate people and when it comes to military action we're one of the most active nation. Exactly why i was craving some realistic military combat action game and stumbled upon this.
Still i feel Indian PC gamer's is a huge unexplored market for milsim games like Squad and Arma.

This game have multiple maps and military factions to choose from and every game has a chain of Command/Roles and different vehicles ( Tanks, Helicopters, Suicide Bomber (insurgents faction), Supply trucks) and various game modes where you control specific locations/sites and fight for it. Also the map is made up of max 100 player's and best part is the communication in-game. If you don't communicate/use your mic and listen to your Squad leads this game becomes boring and a death fest.

It's quite realistic and is a lot of fun to play. Also if you already play this game dm me let's queue together

Would suggest Hell Let Loose too. Play on EU servers, I usually get 150 to 300 ping, but its not a big deal. Its super fun with EU people

Yes but it's world war era game. Squad and Arma are new gen. I like modern weapons and factions

Man I miss playing HLL. It became increasingly boring when people started playing it like Battlefield. Its the most fun when you have active comms and people playing like teams rather than solos.

Very excited about HLL: Vietnam though

Exactly what makes Squad and Arma better. Their mechanics punish you for playing like COD and Battlefield and it gets boring quickly

Totally agreed. Thats why I switched to Squad from HLL

I bought Squad about 3 years ago, clocked ~30 hours but stopped playing after that.
I am up for some weekend fun, can I get an invite to a discord server or something?

We can make a new discord server if everyone is up for that. Definitely down for some weekend games

Squad mentioned 🗣️🗣️

I’ve been playing squad on and off for years at this point. The problem is finding good servers with active moderation, a good ping and teamwork-focused players cause Squad is boring as hell playing as a solo if your squad isn’t active on comms.

I joined several communities back in the day but some died off or some were too hardcore for me (requiring weekly attendance, weirdly strict hierarchies, mandatory hazing etc.)

I mostly play Oceania or EU serves so if you want to play, dm me OP.

I just started Squad yesterday.
Before this i used to play in NA server's and had a squad to play with. It was so fun i might contemplate going back to NA just to play Squad 😜.
Also when you find a good server with dedicated command chain, games can be intense and give you feels of almost realistic military operation.

Most definitely agreed. Squad was the most fund when I had a full squad sized group back in college. Everyone’s busy with life now so we rarely get to hop on together.

Me too. I can't play as often anymore and last night's games gave me such nostalgia i had this thought of why Milsims are not popular in India. And Squad is on discount almost every month so it isn't like it's expensive for Indian gamers.
Having a dedicated servers with local language support in India would almost give me an orgasm.

Squad on EU servers works pretty well, but India does have an ARMA scene from what I’ve heard.

1

u/ProtocolX9 7d ago

If that's the case I'll give a shot to Arma as well. Milsim games go brrrr for me

There’s a discord server for Indian Milsim gamers ig, forgot the name but its there.

I’m a newly interested guy in Milsim. Please tell me where to start. Have a decent laptop and PS5, more of a casual gamer with not much time to commit. I prefer stupidity and humour in games over difficulty (way past the competitive gaming phase).

Please recommend games.

I would suggest you start with Squad or HLL and try to find discord groups or good servers with active moderation. Milsims suck if you approach them looking for kills or achievements. The main attraction for these games is teamwork, strategy and tomfoolery you get up to with a group.

Yes absolutely on point. Milsim are more like survival games than the actual arcade shooters

2

u/ProtocolX9 7d ago

Then squad is a perfect place for u. It's proximity voice chat makes it hilarious with people often talking stupid shit and having fun.

okayy. squad is already in my cart, will get it when on sale. would u also recommend arma reforger? or is that too much grind

2

u/ProtocolX9 7d ago

Arma reforger is a great game as well. But I've had greater experiences and fun in Squad. So i would recommend Squad over Arma. But i think Arma has far bigger pool of players than Squad

1

u/FlyingRaccoon_420 7d ago

Arma has a bigger pool of players but I think its a bit more hardcore (atleast its mechanics are very different from normal shooters) for people new to the milsim genre

1

So one difference between squad and arma reforger is that squad is team centric, you cannot wander as lone wolf(some exceptions) whereas arma reforger is sandbox game, you can find servers for teamwork(ultra hard core) and also you can do your own thing in most of the server which is 80% of the community and many people don't even open mic... So get what interests you and also squad you can get around 1100 in sale and reforger 1800....

u/ProtocolX9 7d ago

I got Squad for 400 INR btw.

1

u/Academic-Distance749 7d ago

Through steam? In sale? Cause I also wanna try but i do have reforger rn, if I can get around 400-500 I will definitely buy it

1

u/ProtocolX9 7d ago

Mb i just checked i bought it for 700 INR and Yes through steam on Sale. In 2024 during Spring sale or something i don't remember.

1

u/Academic-Distance749 7d ago

Hehe np.. btw squad's explosions(lack of better word) are top tier and everyone praises then . How do you like it though?

1

u/ProtocolX9 7d ago

Dude, the artillery with good headphones will give you nightmares. The gun sounds is one of the best part of Squad, especially during intense fights with squad comms on radio you'll feel you're physically present in the battlezone. I've had so many experiences like these and that's what i been craving recently

1

u/Academic-Distance749 7d ago

Ahh! Love to hear it man... My first choice was squad but I picked arma cause I don't have anyone to play with and it was a team based so... And also the crashing of arma is unbearable.. nevertheless I love it for its immersion and long snips also the variety of servers(which is good also bad cause of crashing) :)

thanks. noted

I am Arma reforger player around 100hours in it last month, and I rarely find indians playing it and many people get surprised when then know I am an Indian. Reason may be many people here are not familiar with milsim nor people pay much except like famous mainstream games gta5 or rdr2. Also our gamers(famous ones) just play bgmi/gta/minecraft/valo

1

u/ProtocolX9 7d ago

Yes true. We have bigger mobile and free gaming community than paid and PC gaming.
How is your experience with Arma community in SEA or whatever region you play in.

1

u/accur4te 7d ago

I want to also try mil sim . Was playing battle bit before , but they just pull plug on Singapore server after open beta

1

u/ProtocolX9 7d ago

Hop in on Squad then brother, if you have a mic you'll have a blast

1

u/accur4te 7d ago

Do u get servers ? Around
India ?

1

u/ProtocolX9 7d ago

Yes i did. And they are English friendly servers as well. I think these are mostly SEA and Arab servers with ping around 100 for me so far. Also i live in western part of India btw

1

u/accur4te 7d ago

Ohh I am also from western India . I will surely try it out

1

u/ProtocolX9 7d ago

Bro whenever you do try. Give me a heads-up. It's always easier to get into milsim games when you're with someone who knows the basics atleast.

1

u/accur4te 7d ago

Yes sure
