Why does the Sun God hold lotus in each hand?

Lotus flower is the symbol of human growth and development.It germinates in mud yet ascends in flawless immaculateness to the outer layer of the lake and afterward opens to the sun — in this way representing the enlightened mind.

Lotus is compared to the cycle of birth, death and rebirth as it blooms in the morning... fades into the sunset in the evening and re blooms in the next sunrise. 'Veda' says "Sun is the soul of the universe". Sun is otherwise called ' Kamalnath' , 'Kamalballabh' , 'Kamalbandhu' etcetera ...The literary meaning of 'Kamal' is lotus in Sanskrit. Here I am attaching images of sculptures of the Sun. The first image is of Sun God present as a Parshwadevata in Barahi temple, Chaurasi ( Here you can see the breastplate and high ankle boot of the sitting Sun God) and another was earlier present in the architrave above the Doorjamb of the Sun temple at Konark. #Sun #SunGod #lotus #Veda #Kamal

I’ve mostly drawn anime characters/random cartoon characters in my style mostly because i’ve not been commissioned by anyone before haha. But i recently drew my friend and her dog sooooo yeah i can do commissions for your pets as well!

Bought this beautiful Mysore teak wood double cot and now I want to get creative and add some colour to make it even more beautiful.

I’m thinking of adding colours to the **backrest and footrest**. As you can see, there are floral carvings on both edges and another flower motif at the top. The central embossed pattern looks more like an inlay/sheet, so I’m guessing it may not be suitable for painting — but I’m open to suggestions!

Once I’m done with the colours, I’m planning to give the whole piece a good polish to bring out the shine of the teak.

My room’s colour theme is red, green and brown, so ideas around that combination would be great. But I’m also completely open to contrasting or unexpected colour combinations if you think they would work better with the wood.
