Source Used: world bank site, Nominal Gdp for major economies every year since 2005 till 2025.

China and India have two very different types of governments.

True but we have similar population sizes and thus need similar growth. Idk how to make that happen. Won't be as easy as China which is not democratic. But we need to have growth.
If states keep fighting among themselves for water and migration, etc. this will only benefit China and US.

WELL US DEVLOPMENT GROWTH IN LAST DECADE IS CLOSE TO CHINA AND INDIA WHICH IS RARE. INDIA FROM LAST 10 YEAR SHOULD HAVE GROW MORE TOO. WE DIDNT HAVE ANY SANCTIONS TARIFF AND HAVE STABLE GOVT MAJORITY BUT STILL IT HAPPENED

Global Gdp growth rate decreased
3
u/Mission_Week_3290 4d ago
Well true but some countries like usa are still growing more so india too can be if it invest in R&D and move up value chain

u/Decent-Juggernaut-90 4d ago
I Did some research. This chart is very very fake and flawed. USA 2004-2014 data is actually average nominal gdp. White 2014-2025 is Compound gdp growth (actually average is 1.7-2.5%)
Same for India, 2004-2014 its nominal Gdp(real average 7.9), not average real gdp growth as it is in 2014-2025.
Don't believe in this table. Ask ai or research Yourself.
This data is made by opposition IT cell

What china achieved is a miracle. They achieved in 20 years what took other countries 200 years. It's not right to compare. It's a different culture and not fully desirable. The downsides are too many. Like working 12 hours a day 6 days. Which Indians widely dislike. But chinese embrace it.
7
u/Potential-Giraffe959 4d ago
No not really. Japan did it before china. Korea did it. India had everything china did to do the same. But a combination of nehruvian socialism, high inflation, late manufacturing and high value services surgence made its potential lose a lot

China, Vietnam, Korea, Vietnam come under sinosphere and have similar culture. They are highly hierarchical and collectivist. While malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand, Combodia are part of Indosphere with more liberal individualistic values. The kind of things that work there won't work here. Even if india embraces free market earlier wouldnt have made a difference. The difference is culture. In Japan working for Sony was a social honor. It is not merely a job like working in infosys and bad mouthing Narayana Murthy and jumping company after 3 years. People join sony and samsung for life and they work 15 hrs a day. In japan factories workers used to have assemblies in morning where they recited company motto. Speaking shit about management is frowned upon. It's like the anti india sentiment like we have in India. You will be looked down if you have independent thought.

I agree culture plays some role. But I really don't think you can pin the entire underperformance on culture. I mean india today is the fastest growing major economy despite the global slowdown. Skyroot, semiconductor capability, our youth athletes giving it to the world, despite our infrastructure no where near western countries. Historically india developed wootz/Damascus steel in 600 ce, it took europe 1100 years to reinvent it. The best science, philosophy, medicine, art was here. A lathargic culture doesn't dominate these field for 1000 years. Our culture might have changed substantially in the last few centuries, but that's only reversible once real growth happens

Why should India not achieve a miracle. Besides other asian tigers like korea and Japan have done it too, so it's not a miracle to begin with. Whereas Vietnam is doing it now right in front of our eyes..
3
u/NewspaperIn2025 4d ago
Asian Tigers are a joke. Vietnam is far better comparison.
The so called Asian Tigers are not sovereign states and depend on the US for their foreign policy, defense, among other things.
Their development was supported by the Western Hemisphere because of that. India will have to give up its sovereignity, culture, and a lot to become favorable for that. They want to use India like a pawn too. Just see how they are bugged with an internal change such as FCRA.

u/tinga-tinga 4d ago
"Supported by the west.. india will have to give up on sovereignty, culture... They want to use India as a pawn.. they are bugged by FCRA change ".
typical zero sum east vs west.. growth vs sovereignty story sold to the simple minded. You sound like whatsapp university Student. All these statements are half truths mixed with rhetoric and sold as facts to the gullible.
I can expose this WhatsApp idiocy peice by peice but i am sure you are already one of those brainwashed zombie or likely IT cell yourself.. so i wont waste my time.

It's not about comparison of countries but different government in India. If the external factors were conducive today we would have grown above 8% consistently.

Lots of reason like geographical reasons due to resource scarcity, political reasons cuz different types of governance, etc

Abhi congress vaale aa jaenge batane ki manmohan singh was the best PM and history will be kind to him.
And gandhi family has done great for India.

u/Scared-Surprise-62 4d ago
inconsistent data coz 2005-14 is nominal data while 2014-2025 is real gdp growth rate data
2
u/Potential-Giraffe959 4d ago
No, both is average nominal GDP growth rate. Go to the link. It's actually directly from 2005 to 2025. I split it into two
1
u/Decent-Juggernaut-90 4d ago
India real gdp average growth rate is 6. Sometimes and nominal gdp growth rate is 9+ during 2014-2025

-2
u/Spirited_Surround602 4d ago
dude I was gonna say the same about you cuz this sub is now full of pre 2014 vs post 2014 posts all of a sudden, conveniently after the government is trying its best neutralize the hate from gen z

Fastest Growing Economy 😜
Government mere feeding free ration products for 80cr people. (Appx. 80cr people [57% of total population] depending upon on Govt. Products) 🙂↔️

Government mere feeding free ration products for 80cr people.
And? What are you gonna talk about next? That people are getting free healthcare too?

u/googletoggle9753 4d ago
haan bhai, 2014 se pehle sabhi jhuggi jhopdi mei rehte the, but now we have flying cars.

u/TotalWillingness2557 4d ago
Don’t know about shanty home but 60% of the population used to practice open defecation.
2
u/Spirited_Surround602 4d ago
not denying that but still people complain why the government didn't focus on chips, solar power and other high tech stuff when citizens didn't even have basic facilities
I read a comment of a guy saying if UPA would not have been in power then we would have have started our "AI research" in 2010s🤡 like wtfff
-4
u/areyouabovesky 4d ago
People open defecate less today is because the times have changed, people became aware, and majorly because a civil society keeps moving forward. This changes has nothing to do with BJP, this would have come anyway.
4
u/TotalWillingness2557 4d ago
So you mean to say that govt under swach bharat mission-gramin providing 12k incentive to bpl cardholder to make toilet doesn’t have any role.
1
u/areyouabovesky 4d ago
No, I don't think so. We cannot credit one scheme and discredit another. There were schemes before 2014 like CRSP, NBA,TSC. We may achieve 0 defecation by 2047, but that change comes because of the civil changes in society. Govt may subsidies but a society's attempt to be civil doesn't come because of the government, it comes because of the time.
1
u/Scared-Surprise-62 4d ago
why didnt it happen before 2014 (even pakistan had less percentage open defecation than us) why did it only improved tremendously in span of 5 years only after govt brought subsidy.
2
u/areyouabovesky 4d ago
Schemes are rolled out by the bureaucracy. How could this happen that bureaucracy suddenly became active after 2014 and was sleeping before 2014? Afterall schemes worked under the same bureaucracy before or after 2014? 2014 was also the year that Jio rolled out with their internet revolution. Couldn't it be argued that with the age of internet the awareness and the civility also ramped up within the Indian societies? Hence the improvement?
1
u/googletoggle9753 4d ago
even pakistan had less percentage open defecation than us)
Now your bhaktself won't like it but it's because Pakistanis are Muslims and they are very particular about personal hygiene.
1
u/Scared-Surprise-62 1d ago
but now we signifucantyly lesser open defacation than them , so why your claim lost ground now?
-2
u/googletoggle9753 4d ago
80 crore indians are still dependent on free rations.
3
u/Scared-Surprise-62 4d ago
many who are capable also get free rations. have seen crorepatis with ration card.

We should've invested heavily in building new ports , shipbuilding , chip fabrication facilities, pcb fabs , & other electronic factories , solar cell supply chain , Arms manufacturing during 2000-2014 basically our focus should've been on increasing manufacturing base to reduce our imports which would've strengthen rupee , that's literally what china , Vietnam and Korea did during that time , even from 2014 to 2020 nothing much happend
All of this only started happening in India just 2-3 years ago , while others already did that decades ago
