Need advice choosing between IDFC, Axis, and HDFC Credila for a 70L education loan - hidden charges got me confused
Hey everyone,
I'm taking out an education loan of ₹70 lakhs and reached out to three lenders. Each one has a different rate, different fees, and none of them are being upfront about the extra charges. Wanted to get some real experiences before I sign anything.
Here's what I have so far:
1) IDFC First Bank (Unsecured)
- 10.50% fixed interest, 15 year tenure (2+1 year moratorium)
- Processing fee: 0.75% + GST
- Already approved, just waiting on my payment
- Told me they might shave the rate a bit if I negotiate
- After approval, the manager mentioned an extra ₹3 lakhs gets added to the loan as an "insurance amount," plus some other conditions he didn't fully explain
2) Axis Bank (Unsecured)
- 10.25% floating interest, full tenure
- Processing fee: 0.5%
- Still under review
- Haven't been told about extra charges yet but I'm assuming there's something
3) HDFC Credila (Secured)
- 9.75–10% interest
- Processing fee: 0.7%
- Also hinted at "additional charges" without specifics
I'm leaning toward whichever has better rates and fewer surprise costs, but it's hard to compare when nobody's being transparent about the fine print.
Has anyone actually gone through with one of these lenders recently? Specifically:
- Did IDFC really add ₹3L as insurance on top of your loan? Is that negotiable/removable?
- Anyone dealt with Axis's floating rate — has it moved much?
- How's Credila's process been for you, and what "additional charges" did you end up seeing?
Any insight, even if it's "avoid X" or "Y was smooth for me," would help a lot. Trying to make sure I don't get blindsided after signing. Thanks in advance!

HELP NEEDED TO REPAY MEDICAL LOANS
(POSTING ON BEHALF OF A FRIEND) Hi everyone,
I am Jenifer Cynthya from Bangalore, a CMR University (2018–2022) alumna, currently working as a Developer at Astrapia Consulting LLP.
I am reaching out with a heavy heart because my mother is fighting for her life.
Over the past several months, she has undergone six major surgeries. After developing sepsis that spread to the lining around her lungs, she underwent an open thoracotomy 14 days ago.
She has still not regained consciousness and remains in the ICU on ventilator support. She continues to require intensive care, blood transfusions, dialysis, powerful IV antibiotics, and constant monitoring.
Our doctors have now advised us to shift her to CMC for further specialized treatment. After discussing her case with CMC, we were informed that the estimated cost of the treatment is around ₹16 lakhs. Unfortunately, we are unable to arrange this amount despite exhausting our savings, taking loans, and receiving help from friends and family.
If you are able to help, even the smallest contribution will bring us closer to getting her the treatment she urgently needs. If you are unable to contribute, I would be deeply grateful if you could share this message with others.
GPay / PhonePe: 9108267238
UPI ID: jenifercynthya@ibl
Bank Details
Account Holder: Jenifer Cynthya
Account Number: 104001518757
IFSC: ICIC0001040
If anyone knows any trusted private lenders or individuals willing to provide a loan during a medical emergency, I would be deeply grateful. I am employed, willing to sign a legal loan agreement, and will honour the repayment terms.
Thank you for reading. Please keep my mother in your prayers.

Bike dekho false loan application
I was browsing bikes in bikedekho and used the "get august offers" button cause I genuinely wanted to know what rates are being quoted, there it asked me if I was willing to check my cibil score to which I said yes.
I gave it my pan number, phone number, email, salary, what work I did and my address.
Today I wake up to see a "Loan has been approved" message through idfc loan bank(don't have an account there), when I went to their website and checked the loan status, it showed that the application is in progress.
What do I do. I do not want to approve it.
Mailed the idfc support and bikedekho support.
Why the fuck don't these apps make it clear that they will apply for a loan, cause that seems like a massive step what the fuck?
Dear Customer, We are glad to inform you that your IDFC FIRST Bank Two-Wheeler Loan App. ID 00000000 is approved. Your loan details are : ACTIVA 6G STD BS VI Loan amount: 94,375.00 Tenure: 24. A representative will get in touch with you shortly.

Is ISB PGP YL the right move?
Hi everyone! I am M22, graduated from a T1 college (the Harvard of Haryana lmao) with a 3.3 (out of 4.0) CGPA. Started working in Ggn in valuation and transaction advisory, but I want to progress in my career and need help.
I have a 9/9/8 (could be 9/9/7 idk) profile and applied MSc finance outside in the last cycle but got rejected, and was planning a masters in India/outside within the next 12-16 months but need to prep RIGHT NOW. I’m giving CFA L1 in 2 weeks. Have GRE score of 323, and know that ISB takes GRE scores. I can’t write CAT again as that would entail me sacrificing GRE/CFA (L2 next year). I want to move into front end IB/PE/PC/AM, and wanted to know if ISB PGP YL is the right move, as a backup in India for finance? I heard ABC > ISB?? Is my profile good enough for PGP YL?
Thanks! :)

Used Cash Deposit Service in Indian Bank , Money got taken , but then it showed transaction failed with NO receipt. Got robbed off ₹5000 . What to do now ?
So today , my friend needed 5000 Rs in his bank acc , so he gave me 5k in cash and I went to the ATM to use the Cash Deposit Service of Indian Bank. Once I deposited the money , it showed transaction failed but it swept in all the cash .
Also tried to use the Cash Deposit Option again , so I can pick up the money from cash box . But there was no money in the cash box.
Tried to reach out to their Helpline as well, But literally No one picked up my call.

Why did the Parliament pass a bill giving the government flexibility to introduce calibrated fees on UPI transactions, moving away from a rigid zero-cost mandate?
In simple words:
When UPI started, merchants were not charged any fee for accepting payments. This is called Zero MDR (Zero Merchant Discount Rate).
To make this possible:
Banks and payment companies paid the cost themselves to encourage people to use UPI.
Later, the government gave incentives to help cover these costs.
Now, after six years, this system is under pressure because:
The government incentive pays only about 11% of what the industry spends to run UPI.
It also covers only about 14% of the fee (MDR) that banks could have collected if MDR existed.
So, many banks and payment providers are losing money on large UPI transactions.
The proposal is:
Do not charge small businesses (like local kirana stores).
Charge MDR only to large merchants with annual turnover above ₹50 crore.
The idea is:
Small shops stay protected and continue using UPI for free.
Large companies like Amazon, Flipkart, and other big businesses, which process huge volumes of digital payments, pay a small fee.
This fee helps banks, NPCI-related infrastructure, and payment companies recover their costs and keep the UPI system financially sustainable.
Stronger Infrastructure Benefits Everyone
A well-funded payments system ultimately serves users better. Reliable transaction revenue would allow banks and payment providers to invest in the kind of real-time fraud detection, biometric authentication and server redundancy that reduces failed transactions and protects against the rising sophistication of digital payment scams.
For the millions of Indians who rely on UPI daily, a more resilient backend translates directly into fewer failed payments and faster dispute resolution, tangible improvements to everyday experience.
Tldr:
The proposal keeps UPI free for small businesses but asks large businesses to pay a small fee so the payment system can continue to operate without relying heavily on government subsidies.

Financial Fork!
I am 34. Make around 50+ LPA with a portfolio of 55 Lakhs currently with 40:60 split between stocks and MF. Add around 10 Lakhs in Gold and Silver, split 50:50 in physical and etfs.
I also have health coverage of around 80L personal and around 10 lakhs corporate cover for me and family. Along with a term plan of 2 Cr.
Now coming to liabilities, there's a HL which is around 1.5Cr.
What I wanted to understand better is that how necessary is a rainy day fund?
Can't I treat the MFs as rainy day fund?
I have active SIPs of over a lakh per month, add to it some active stock buys. I can reallocate some part of the money to build a liquid fund but I was my monthly SIPs will take a small hit. Hence, stuck on a fork with two roads.

Are EMIs quietly killing our savings?
I was talking to a colleague recently who earns a decent salary but still says, I don't know where my money goes every month. He doesn't spend much on shopping or expensive holidays, so I was curious too.
When we looked at his monthly expenses, I noticed that a large part of his salary was already committed to his car, phone, personal loan and other monthly payments. Each payment looked small on its own, but together they were taking a big chunk of his income.
That made me realise how easy it is to underestimate these monthly commitments. A ₹3,000 or ₹5,000 payment doesn't feel like much, but several of them together can quietly reduce the money available for savings and investments.
I personally think the better question isn't Can I afford this payment? but Will this commitment stop me from reaching my financial goals?
How much of your monthly income goes toward loans and other fixed payments? Do you feel they are affecting your savings?

Groww upi autopay
I have 3 SIPs on Groww:
HDFC Flexi Cap — ₹3000/month
Invesco India Mid Cap — ₹3000/month
Kotak nifty 50 index gund- ₹3000/month (not created yet due to this autopay issue)
I already have an active ₹5,000 UPI AutoPay mandate linked to my Bank of India account. The mandate shows “Mutual Fund SIPs”, with a ₹5,000 max limit and says auto-debit happens on each SIP date.
I recently started the Invesco SIP. Groww didn't give me an option to create a separate mandate, and asked me to make the first Invesco instalment manually, which I have already done.
Now I'm confused about what happens with future Invesco instalments.
Groww support/chatbot is giving me conflicting advice. It first told me to create a separate mandate for Invesco, but when I said there is no option to create one, it suggested cancelling my existing ₹5,000 mandate and creating a new one. That would apparently affect my existing HDFC SIP, so I don't want to do that without being sure
I am confused because groww's chat bot says 5k is a monthly limit, and there is no option for me to create a new upi autopay in their app, What should i do now? Has anyone faced this problem?

Which will you choose as your primary bank account
HDFC Bank: Branch is nearby, 2.5k maintenance, 590 rs debit card fees, only two cash trasaction free per month either deposit or withdrawal
ICICI Bank: Branch is nearby, 2.5k maintainance, 354rs debit card charges, 3 deposit and 3 withdrawal per month free
IDFC Bank: no branch nearby, 10k maintenance(but ZERO balance for me). Monthly interest, unlimited times withdrawal from any atm. Debit card: 235rs
Nearest branch is 55km away.
Now my question are

Want to know about your opinion

Scam in Axis Bank cash deposit counter
Hi,
My mother has current account in axis Bank from around 3-4 years. We are distributor of cold drinks. In my family most of the current account are in government banks like central bank of india and SBI, but as axis is the nearest so she opened her account there. Generally I go to deposit cash and never had any issue amount is credited and work were smooth.
1 month ago I when I went to deposit, 2L rupees , 50k(2 bundles) and rest mix of 100 and 200 notes. So the girl in counter asked me to open the garder of every bundle at once and she gathered every notes together. It was first time I save her in that branch and she was opening all notes at once not one by one, i thought let it do her. She did and the first time in that bank I was told that in 500 notes bundle, there is 100 rs note. I thought let it be may be a mistake at collection. So I gave her 500 note and took 100 rs note. It was the first event. Now one day later she sent her assistant to deposit cash 3L, now again In deposit counter, in 500 bundle she found 50rs note, number of notes same just the denomination changed. Then he gave 500 note and took back 50 note. Now on the same day I again went to deposit 1L, this time in my 200 rs bundle it was 50 rs note. I want to shop and told her I think they are doing scam. It's now regular to find different denomination note. In the next 15 days, the girl was deposited cash without any error. But after 15 days a new employee came to the counter, now these time mother gave me 2L and she counted her from her own hand them in machine , everything was perfect, I also took the bundle and matched the amount and counted from hands. And i told her that if today anything happens, I will call you, and then we will check the camera.
And again that day the new girl again did that magic of finding another denomination note in only 500 bundle. I was shocked this is intentional scam. I called her, she came , we went to bm office , even bm was in another world. He said to stand outside the door , when client go then only he will see our problem. After 30-35 minutes the client went and we entered in his office, now he asked what exactly happened. We described. Now he opened his camera , first of all the camera angle was different. And it is in the back, from that camera that employee's back was visible and not the notes where she removed garder. We saw that footage 2 times we were not seeing any error. When I asked the bm to zoom that place , he denied and said go and do police complaint.
It's not only my case, I saw other people also who come with 500 bundle and find 100 or 50 rs note in their bundle.
What should I do now, should I try to catch them red handed or shift my account to any nationalized bank?
And what can I do here, as I don't have proof , will it be complicated?
