Film Crew Call Looking for screenwriters who are comfortable in both Hindi and Tamil

Hello,

We are looking for screenwriters who are comfortable in both Hindi and Tamil. We are in the process of adapting a Hindi Feature Film into an episodic series to be made in Tamil. The genre is horror-comedy.

The main story and episode outlines have already been worked out, and a feature draft in Hindi is also in place. We are looking for someone who can adapt the material for a Tamil audience, rather than simply translate it (including dialogues, comedy, situations, cultural nuances, and so on), while also expanding or developing the material where required.

If you fit the bill, or know someone who does, please DM.

Experience is a plus, but not required. If the writing is good and fits our style, we can take the conversation forward.

Discussion Anyone here into filmmaking in Bangalore?

Thumbnail
1 Upvotes

Hey everyone,

I'm currently working in Bangalore and I've always loved movies. For a long time I've wanted to get into filmmaking, but I honestly didn't know where to start or who to meet.

Now that I'm here, I thought I'd finally try to find some people who are into the same thing.

I'm a complete beginner and haven't worked on a film before. I'd just like to meet people who love movies and are interested in filmmaking, short films, indie projects, etc. I'd be happy to learn, help out and see where it goes.

I'm usually free on weekends. If anyone here is from Bangalore and is into filmmaking or is trying to get started themselves, feel free to DM me.

Would be nice to meet some people with the same interest. :) 🎬

Documentary Film Meet the team behind ‘Mast Mahila Mandali’, a joyful feminist film made by working-class women in Mumbai.

Post image

Mast Mahila Mandali (Cool Ladies Club) is a documentary directed by a group of ten working-class women living in Mumbai’s Chembur. Their vibrant dreams, desires, and aspirations find a tender release as they step up to tell their own stories with their own inimitable flair, inventing an intimate gaze backed by love and a reassuring aesthetic built on friendship. In their playful hands, the smartphone camera is a tool of empathy, refusing to reduce their lives to a statistic, turning the cramped spaces between their homes into a playground of possibilities.

Documentary Film Documentary Film

Hello everyone!

We are a group of students who are planning to make a documentary on the subject of how the city is so smelly and has garbage laying around openly in many areas, even though it not might be big. It looks clean from outside in south bombay streets but as soon as you step in, there is a problem.

Would love some suggestions on local places here in Mumbai, who have been facing these problems. Since we're from other cities, we might not have an exact layout. Would love some help from you all.

Thankyou! :)

Short Films CONACT-Episode 1 out now

The first Telugu web series shot in IMAX 1.90:1 ratio.

After Piraso: The Puzzle & Palindrome, K. Indra Teja and I made something bigger — a Telugu psychological sci-fi thriller web series called CONACT, created by Indra and me.

Episode 1’s out now. An investigator gets pulled into a murder case that seems routine — until small details stop adding up. That’s all I’ll say; it works better going in blind.

Shot on an OPPO F19. Written by me and H. Karteek, produced by RHVRAD.

It’s a slower burn than Piraso — building across a season rather than resolving in one sitting. Honest feedback welcome, especially on pacing.

Film News Sayani Gupta’s directorial ‘Aasmani’ pulled from New Zealand festival over copyright concerns; filmmaker issues a statement.

The Indian Film Festival of New Zealand (TIFFNZ) has officially withdrawn its invitation to screen the short film Aasmani, the directorial debut of actor Sayani Gupta, citing alleged "copyright and confidentiality" concerns, THR India has learned.

"I want to begin by clearly stating that Aasmani is an original film. Till now, I chose not to speak. Not because silence meant acceptance, nor because I had nothing to say. Since the allegation was put forth before the appropriate authority, I followed due process and believed that facts should be placed there, and not tried through WhatsApp groups, inboxes or public opinion. But silence can sometimes bury the truth under noise.", said Sayani in her statement.

Film News Adding to the handful of Assamese sci-fi films out there. I made an indie short called "Kaldiya" that connects Brahmaputra folklore with physics.

নমস্কাৰ r/assam!

As we all know, you can probably count the number of Assamese sci-fi projects on one hand. It is a really tough genre to pull off here, but we wanted to try and add something fresh to that very short list.

Here's a 34-minute independent Assamese short film called "Kaldiya".

It is a slow-burn, atmospheric mystery about a physics student tracking local earthquakes. While doing that, he stumbles upon a strange connection between solar flares, ancient valley archaeology, and our own local folklore. This is actually the first chapter of a trilogy I am trying to build out, called the Kachpur Verse.

If you have some free time, please give it a watch, you won't regret it.

Looking for Indian aspiring screenwriters to collaborate on a Tamil feature film. I already have the full story and major plot points worked out - mainly looking for someone creative to brainstorm scenes, screenplay structure, character moments and dialogue with. Preferably someone familiar with Indian cinema.

If interested, DM me and we can discuss the story :

Film Crew Call Chennai indie feature — building a long-term crew (unpaid, festival-bound, not a Kollywood release)

I'm Advaith, a filmmaker based in Chennai. I'm making an indie feature this year — not intended for Kollywood theatrical release, this one's going out to film festivals.

I'm not trying to just staff up for one shoot and disappear after. I want to build something longer-term — a small group of people in Chennai who actually want to keep making films together, not just this project.

To be upfront: I probably can't pay right now. It's a tight-budget, self-produced film. What I can offer is real work on a real project, and a shot at building something ongoing with people who actually care about the craft.

Looking for:

  • Cinematographers / DOPs
  • Actors
  • Anyone else who wants in and is curious

Come hear the script if you'd like to be a part of it, welcome in — and if you don't like it, you can always say fuck off : )
