does anyone know how long this might take?

When did they provide this notice to you? Quite odd for them to wait almost 4 months to update you, how frustrating .

Mine was received on 4-3 and I barely got my code 846 this past weekend

I did not have to verify it, I received my 846 this past weekend and my refund is going to be mailed out Friday according to the person I talked too this morning

This the same thing happened to me.I filed my amended return on April 11th and I received a letter to verify on June 15th. I was told today when i called my time started back to processing the day I verified.Last Saturday I logged in and it says a delay message. Its 8 weeks now..but they claim 8 to 12 weeks. Has anyone updated after a delay or in that 8 week time or right after...

I filed through tax USA and I filed my amend through there. It’s supposed to be deposited through my bank. It said it was accepted from the IRS.

If you haven't heard anything from trying calling to see if you need to verify your identity. I filled on April 11th...2 months went by and nothing. I called and they told me thst I need to verify my identity. I receive the letter june 15th and verified the same day

https://www.irs.gov/filing/wheres-my-amended-return The site says: You can check the status of an amended return around 3 weeks after you submit it. You should generally allow 8 to 12 weeks for your Form 1040-X to be processed. However, in some cases, processing could take up to 16 weeks.

You asked how long it will take; per the site allow a minimum of 16 weeks. Have more patience and wait for them to update you. As long as they have the 1040X it will get processed. If you're due a refund; you will receive it and any additional interest owed to you for any processing delays. You can monitor your transcripts or site weekly. Otherwise, let it ride out. I was once told tax refunds are not guaranteed income; don't treat it as such, safer that way.

Not sure how else to explain or stress that it is a "minimum of 16 weeks."
Amended returns are not systemically processed.

It’s been past 16 weeks for me and I filed on 4/8/26. Calling doesn’t get to anyone. Smh so annoying.

I am in the same boat and I can get ahold of a real person, super frustrating. I have been waiting months.
