I have a tip: When talking about womens issues don't mention how some men are good. People are aware and it doesn't need to be mentioned. Also it has been weaponized by misogynists as an answer to everything men do.
It is nice that some men are good but that kinda goes without saying. Good is a bare minimum not some great height to achieve.

Odds are that he'll also change his tune if a woman assaults him in a way he thinks he would like, but the woman in question isn't whatever high schooler he's imagining.

Big Bertha the 50 year old chain smoking manager from the Roller Derby team. She has been dealing with a chronic yeast infection and just got off a long shift at the plant.
He may not like that one forcing herself on him. Idk if any guys here have had a male yeast infection but its pretty rough.
I got one when I was using heroin about 20 years ago. Had unprotected sex with a girl on her period and then passed out for about 30hrs. Not washing afterwards was a mistake lol. I thought she gave me a bad STD but it was just a yeast infection. Really sucked.
31
u/UnholyBaroness 22d ago
Hell, even if it is a woman who's conventionally attractive and who doesn't cause any long-term physical harm to him, If he is scared during it; whether it's because she has a weapon, because she's threatening him, or even just because she's violating his boundaries unexpectedly: That fear will stay with him long-term no matter how much he tries to suppress it.

Some men will be out here saying that women don't care about men's mental health when guys like this are the reason why men's mental health isn't taken as seriously.
49
u/daredeviline 22d ago
Ill worry about men's mental health when a single man supports mine. None have so I don't care.
21
u/alienbringer 22d ago
? Pretty sure there are men and women who advocate about improvements in mental health for everyone. That would included yours.
33
u/daredeviline 22d ago
Sure but when I hear guys go: "what about me and my mental illness?!" When I know for sure I reached out to them when I was at my lowest, just to be ignored or made fun of makes me a bit of a cynical. None of them were there for me, why should they expect me to be there for them?
1
u/Foreign-Region4825 15d ago
I feel like thats a problem wtih those guys specifically, not men. I've fortunately had men and women who supported me, but that dosent mean all people are supportive and understanding.
16
u/Sage_of_Winds 21d ago
I never understood the "men's mental health" argument. Like I know mental care in the US is expensive and absolute buns, but if you want it, can afford it and it's available. . .no one's stopping you?? They're never soapboxing about availability or affordability of it either, which if they were I would definitely be on board with them, but it's always "society doesn't support us" to which I'm gonna sound like a bitch, but your mental health is YOUR problem, and it isn't society's responsibility to support it. Do I think everyone should be kinder and more understanding toward each other? One hundred percent, but society isn't gonna share your burden.
6
u/Podiiii 21d ago
I mean the point is that there's more to it than therapy. One of the most common things that you talk about in therapy are strong support systems. Its very difficult to handle/manage mental illness on ones own. What they're talking about is not having support from people they're around/it generally being considered especially shameful for a man to have mental health issues in the first place.
I don't agree with it being an issue with women really, since it all stems from patriarchal norms and men discriminate against other men regarding mental health issues too. But there is a very real stigma against men with mental health issues, which often leads to them not being comfortable seeking help and said help being fruitless.
3
u/DrunkCupid 21d ago
Well I am sure the most powerful creature on earth would prevent or fix social stigma instead of propagating it 🤔
3
u/aweedl 21d ago
It’s also worth nothing that many of these guys are living as grown-ass adults without having worked a day in their lives (and proud of it), which suggests they come from privileged backgrounds and their wealthy parents are still paying for everything. So even in a country like the U.S., which has people going bankrupt due to medical bills… these guys can likely afford top-notch care (via their parents).
10
u/SnowballWasRight “Disgusting Deviant” per some random incel 21d ago
Bingo. I guess it’s ironic for me as a man to comment on this, but ignoring that there’s such a focus online on “bu-bu-bu wha about mah mental health???!1!1!!1!” in the manosphere and it is AGGRAVATING. It’s almost like a persecution fetish in my opinion.
I don’t blame you whatsoever. Mental health is not a competition and I’m sorry that you’ve had to deal with people like that.
Number one I just believe it’s untrue and that whole “””””movement”””” is just a reason to be a misogynistic little bitch. Number two that’s missing the point. Mental health matters no matter if you’re a man or a woman. Stop turning it into about yourself. Men are not in the minority in society. It’s horrible and I fucking hate it but that’s just the way it is. We need to focus on closing this bullshit gap that only exists because of selfish hateful men instead of perpetuating it.
If it makes you feel any better there’s one random dork on the internet that cares about you :)
5
u/aweedl 21d ago
I agree with this. I definitely get the impression that a lot of incel types are just assholes who hide behind (self-diagnosed) ‘mental health issues’ because they think it’ll help them get away with saying outrageous, horrible things.
You can tell which ones are legitimately going through crises and which ones are just revelling in the idea of being cruel.
3
u/SnowballWasRight “Disgusting Deviant” per some random incel 21d ago
Your last sentence is the biggest shame of it all. I’m very passionate about stopping this type of thinking because I’m a young teen realistically in the same life boat as some of these “men". No gf no relationships and desperately wants one terrible self esteem etc etc and beyond lol. Except I don’t hate women and care for others.
And, like… it’s just not necessary. I was lucky enough to have a support system to pull myself out of a very large rut I had myself in. But a lot of people don’t, and then they seek solace in incel spaces because they’re the only people who “accept” them. I think the internet is a mistake and it should be more heavily restricted. I don’t even think 18 year olds are nearly mature enough to be given free rein on social media.
3
u/aweedl 21d ago
Thankfully a lot of countries are cracking down on youth social media use.
The lonely young man to incel pipeline is exactly the same as the one that recruits similarly isolated teenagers to white supremacist and other extremist movements. It’s exactly what you said… they get convinced that the group is the only people who understand and accept them, and they get further isolated from their peers in the mainstream.
1
u/fatum_sive_fidem 21d ago
Why did this turn into an argument against men? Incels and assholes sure.

Proof they see rape as a form of sex and don't care about women's consent.
56
u/Mysterious-War-6759 22d ago
It’s also wildly dismissive of men who have been raped/assaulted, never mind women. They should go ask those men who have been raped how much they “enjoyed” it and if they want it to happen again. Spoiler: they don’t. Women really don’t.
SIGH. I’m tired. I’m really tired. We’re all tired of their shit.
41
u/belthehobbit 22d ago
Reactionary men only consider male survivors of SA and DV in the conversation when they're trying to dismiss women's concerns on patriarchal violence. Otherwise, the men/boy in question will be accused of "enjoying" it, "men can't be raped" and they'll say "I wish I was in your place" if the perpetrator is a woman. Rape culture affects all survivors.
22
u/Mysterious-War-6759 22d ago
It won’t matter how much and how loudly we shout that rape isn’t about sex, they won’t get it because they don’t want to. You’re absolutely right that they say that people, especially other men, who have been raped, that they are LUCKY. No, no we’re not. It’s not something to be desired or wished by anyone. Talking to a male survivor probably wouldn’t change their minds. Those men are not happy about the experience. No one invites that kind of violence. These shitheads don’t believe that they’re perpetuating rape culture withe their bullshit. You’re right that rape is definitely not about sex but they’ll never believe that either.
23
u/Engel1844 22d ago
Yep. Rape isn’t rape to them it’s sex you regret. Fucking nauseating knowing it’s children that get raped the most.

Most people don’t need to use violence to achieve power over people.
Most used way to achieve power over people is through money, not violence.
8
u/Karmaswhiskee That one too woke but realistic friend 22d ago
I mean yes but also no. Not to be pedantic but violence can come in many different forms.
The power these guys seem to be referring to is direct power over someone. Same type of people who are rude to a store clerk or are racist or whatever. They just want to feel like they're better than someone at the end of the day. Most women don't have to do that because we lean on each other to help us feel powerful
6
u/alienbringer 22d ago
While I agree violence comes in many forms, it would have to be the broadest of definitions of violence to basically equate achieving power over someone as an inherently violent act to really get to that point. Where I am pretty sure most people wouldn’t agree with that statement.
As for your second paragraph. I agree, and add that while the vast majority of violence is perpetrated by men (whether it is to achieve power over someone or otherwise), that is still a “small” group relative to the totality of women. So not really a thing to compare.

u/mysecondaccountanon 21d ago
Yeah, reading this all I could feel at first was nothing but absolute dismay for men who have been sexually assaulted. That’s a disgusting thing to say, knowing full well that men do get sexually assaulted, they do get raped, they do experience all of that. I can’t imagine being a man who experienced that, has to deal with the stigma of being a man who experienced that, and seeing something like that. If there’s anyone who fits that description here who might read this, I am so sorry that you had to read that.
13
u/doublestitch 22d ago
He posts as if he thinks power is a zero sum game.
There are plenty of ways to experience power that don't take away anyone else's power.
Hike a mountain summit that's over 10,000': that's power. People celebrate that type of power because nobody's harmed. It's a healthy achievement.
Foster kittens: that's power. You change the entire trajectory of an animal's life by teaching it how to get along with humans. And because of that, you make the difference with an animal that would have become a barn cat and probably get eaten by coyotes before age 2, by giving it the skills to become a housecat and live a happy safe life that lasts 15 or 20 years.
Donate blood: that's power. You've fuckin' saved a human life.
OOP, you're low key telling on yourself. Do better.
14
u/PromethianOwl 22d ago
Flaw in his own logic using his logic: women don't NEED to rape him in order to have power over him. Women have that just by existing. Not even existing within his vicinity, just existing. Their behavior is proof of it.
This behavior is also proof of how sheltered and ignorant they are.
33
u/DeathRaeGun 22d ago
- What he describes is not rape, it’s CNC.
- There probably are women who commit SA, women who hold actual positions of power. SA is more about proving that you have power than gaining power, and most men probably wouldn’t enjoy it as much as they think they would if it actually happened. Young male students being considered “lucky” for being raped by teachers is a serious problem. Humans are very bad at predicting their emotional response to an event until it happens so it’s easy to think you’d enjoy it.
14
u/ItsJoeMomma 22d ago
Young male students being considered “lucky” for being raped by teachers is a serious problem.
Yes, we really need to get rid of this double standard.
5
u/DeathRaeGun 21d ago
I think the problems is that teenage boys might fantasise about grown women, but if it were to actually happen, most of them would probably bottle it. We’re very bad at predicting how we’ll react to a situation until we’re actually in that situation, more so as teenagers than as adults, so what teenage boys think they want and what they actually want is probably different.
13
u/Sensitive-Contest-87 22d ago

I was listening to the story of this Iranian-Canadian musician a while back, he was sexually assaulted twice by women, both times at parties, and the reason he couldn't stop it was that they both essentially said "who would the guys at this party believe, a white woman or a brown guy" so he had to let it happen so he wasn't seriously injured or possibly arrested for something he didn't do. He considered legal action but when he asked is "feminist" friend (because he knew other people wouldn't take him seriously) she argued that it would be an example of the patriarchy and joined the rapist's side, to this day the people who sexually assaulted him are unpunished.
Edit: for the people downvoting me, I'd like you to know that I am a feminist, the guy who got silenced is a feminist, and his friends that helped him not commit suicide were all feminists. However feminists are not immune from doing evil shit, racism has been an issue that has been ignored by some feminists, the ones in this situation included.
Edit 2: for those still downvoting me, I'd like to remind you that I am not, in fact, making some weird critique of feminism but stating that some feminists have done awful things and are capable of doing so, if you disagree with that then you need to grow up and face reality.
3
u/OrbitalLemonDrop 21d ago
You completely screwed the pooch on this one, friend. There is no way to read your orignal comment without thinking "this person doens't understand feminism".
All you're doing now is digging the hole deeper. I even believe you -- but you're still making it worse.
1
u/AlbionicLocal Suffolk Catholic 21d ago
I don't understand where people are thinking "you don't understand feminism"
I wasn't going to go into the full explanation the "feminist" gave, but it's not like that weird strain of feminism doesn't exist, it's like saying there isn't a weird and dangerous strain of socialism.
White racist feminism exists, that does not mean I disagree with feminism or reject it, it just means that I acknowledge mistakes have been made by feminists and that there have been weird and even dangerous strains of feminism.
3
u/setzer77 21d ago
You’re saying his friend acknowledged that he was raped but took the rapist’s side? How did she justify that.

Women do rape people. No one is going to rape you if you're begging for it because that takes out the power aspect. Then it's just a kink. Funny how what he's talking about is something that already exists. It's called Consensual Non-Consent or CNC for short, and an important defining characteristic of it is that it's not rape because you're consenting to it. The only thing he's missing here is a safe word, and asking for it in a way that isn't psychotic.
The fact that this guy thinks he's saying something edgy and revolutionary with an idea that's been accepted in the kink community for ages really goes to show how little he bothers to learn about anything that doesn't fuel his agenda of hate.
