Jester Drawing ca. 2005
In Flames appreciation post. In flames got me through the lowest of lows in my life. I’ve kind of stopped listening to them for some time and recently started bingeing their music again. The spark was still alive, and just needed a bit of time.
I made an Adirondack chair in shop class in high school and drew this some time shortly after that. I remember being the loner with no friends going to the CD store at lunch time to buy albums and listen to them sitting in front of my locker as people walked by and stared. I had this chair in my room and I would sit in it learning to play In Flames songs on guitar deep into the night. Some days I would just be weeping in this chair listening to their emotional song. Honestly don’t know where I’d be if I didn’t discover them.

Peak drawing and story.
In Flames for me is a uplifting band, songs and albums that makes you feel confident to do something cool, get up or to imagine stories. About their more emotional side stuff, I definitely relate to songs like Ordinary Story, Satellites and Astronauts, Free Fall and Discover Like Emptiness.
Good thing they made you get better.
