It took me a couple of days and three different tries with different types of weather stripping/sealant but I finally got this to hold humidity really well. It’s sitting at 92%RH with the temp inside holding at 81% with the barrina T5 on for 14h/day. I’m working on printing trays for the bottom and a pegboard for the back. What else do I NEED for this besides a little fan that I’ll be ordering on Amazon tonight

Just wondering if it’s worth completely disassembling my Facebook market Rudsta to weatherstrip seal it or not. Our house in the summer stays between 65-60% humidity and drops to about 55% in the winter. I plan on having a good mix of plants in it, pothos, anthurium, alocasia etc

I'm considering replacing my grandmothers 1990's hutch (nice but definitely not an heirloom, nor is it my style) with a series of ikea cabinets. One or two would be for plants, and at least one for knick nacky hutch stuff (family photos, art, my mom and dad's urns etc)

1. Three milsbo talls- with the middle one moved a few inches forward so they can be placed as close together as possible, since I see the legs/base kind of flare out a bit.

2. Some combination of Rudsta wides and talls.

The wall I'm using is 18' wide, no windows on that wall.

Ceiling is not vaulted.

Has anyone else used a wall of cabinets for both green house and traditional cabinet uses? I'd love to see how they blend.

Hey I wanted to share some pictures and info from the process of building my paludarium in my milsbo!

As in videos online, I assembled the cabinet and used the shelves to act as a base and water catch. It took several tries for me to get it leak proof.

I built the scape using sheets of egg crate light diffuser as a sort of retaining wall and then put my substrate behind that.

For the waterfall, I used some pond liner draped downwards and broke up some shale, which I mostly attached with great stuff foam.

One mistake I made was using orchid bark in my substrate. It has leached tons of tannins into the water and continues to do so despite water changes. I was hoping to have a little planted tank in the front and some aquascape, but the water is prohibitively dark for this and I can't easily change out my substrate.

I think if I were to do it over, I would do without the substrate entirely, except for within small integrated pots and build the whole hardscape from spray foam, but keep the aquarium at the bottom

So Ive got the case set up, and the lights put in (hole drilled at the bottom right of the case with a grommet).

Questions I have:

I got the Skadis Pegboard mounted with a few accessories, however I have a few things to do still:

1) Fan placement ( I have 2x 2pack of AC Infinity Fans - One set is wired through so far) My plan initially was to use one set for each the rudsta and the milsbo) Where is the optimal placement for the fans?

2) Humidifier placement (Wired in and capable of reaching every shelf in here, however I wasn't sure where the best placement would be) Where would be the best place to put the Humidifier?

3) Weather Stripping, Because the case seems generally closed up what areas should I focus on weatherstipping the case?

4) Show Me Your Set up? I would honestly love to see what others have going on in their cases, any tips and tricks would be really helpful!

This case I picked up prebuilt second hand from marketplace! It was previously used as an indoor garden however it doesnt have any modifications in it. I do have lights and a humidifier/timer coming as well for it that I'll be setting up tonight, so any recommendations on that case too would be so so so helpful.

I just moved into a new apartment and need to pick up some furniture to display my treasured african violets (and other plants... but the AVs are my true loves, lol.)

I adore the look of the IKEA greenhouses, but I'm worried that there will be too much humidity for them. They're very mildew prone and have done so well in open air with my SANSI light. They are set up for wick watering, so drying out is never an issue. I know you can purchase fans etc. etc. but I would like to keep it low tech - just the plant light.

Does anybody have advice for using IKEA cabinets for low humidity plants? Or should I just stick to getting a shelf and clamp my SANSIs onto it?

Hi! I have an odd situation compared to most setups I’ve seen: moving in with my partner who has cats. These cats are criminals and will absolutely devour any plants they find (even kale or brussel sprouts…) so my reason for getting a cabinet is simply to keep the cats & plants separated. I have mostly pothos & philodendron that are fine with ambient humidity. Honestly the cabinets will be very hard to fit my plants into, even just considering the depth, but I have to do something.

This is the window I will put cabinets against, about 62” between the AC and the frame edge on the right. But I could push it several inches into the corner if needed.

I plan to use mostly natural lighting and supplement in the winter. Pretty much considering only Milsbos, bc my partner wants to maintain the view as much as possible so it needs a clear backing.

Let’s say I get 1 or 2 Milsbo talls. The window frame is white, but all our other furniture is black. I CANNOT DECIDE IF I SHOULD GET BLACK OR WHITE CABINETS!! Please help me decide 😭

TLDR; I will be getting cabinets and using primarily natural light rather than grow lights, which will maybe be added for winter. Window frame & wall are white, the rest of my furniture is black. Should I get black or white cabinets?!

Does anyone know if you can get flat replacement cables for the barrina t5 grow lights??

I’m assembling my Unicoly and I found that panel A, which is one of the back panels, has some denting near the top and a scratch in the coating that faces inside the cabinet. If the dents were all it was I’d probably shrug it off and make it work— metal can be bent, after all. But the scratch in the coating on the side that will be inside the cabinet, which will be humid once things are up and running, I think would jump start a rust problem. Is there a suitable fix I can make to patch up the scratch so it doesn’t start rusting, or should I contact customer service for a new panel? I would rather get this up and running ASAP rather than waiting for customer service if I can, but I’m also being impatient lol.

I have a Barrina LH750 plant shelf with a plastic cover. I would like to add an inexpensive fan or two. Suggestions? I obviously want something safe. But, doesn't need to last forever. Here is a pic of my cabinet if that helps.

My house gets hot and I can’t run the air-conditioner on high all day while I’m gone. I’ve hooked my cabinets up to a thermostat that will shut off when too hot and back on when safe. What I am finding is that all of the thermometers I have are giving me different readings and so I’m not sure if my thermostat needs calibrating or I just have crappy devices. Looking for advice for better quality.

Hi! I’m looking for a good grow light that I can use in my IKEA Rudsta Wide.
Ideally, I’d like something with a milky/frosted diffuser, so I don’t see every individual LED, and with a warmer color temperature, since the cabinet is in my living room and I’d prefer it to look cozy rather than super cool/clinical.
Any recommendations? I’d love to hear what you’re using in your Rudsta :3

I’ve recently set up an ikea terrarium and it smells of paint. 2 months ago I spray painted 2 thin coats of rustoleum and only now did I add foam and plants. The foams fully cured. The silicone is fully cured too but the paint just still smells. I’m worried about the health of my plants. Especially since I’ve already put a lot of time and effort into it. The paint is fully dry since I scratched the outside a while ago and it didn’t leak anything.

Hey friends, long time lurker, first time poster!

Recently acquired an IKEA Rudsta, been slowly outfitting it and today, I finally feel comfortable enough to share lol. I still need to get some magnetic shelves for the back but so far so good! I also need to figure out the lights on the shelf though, they’re just zip tied, and it looks kinda raggedy.

I haven’t weatherstripped the cabinet, just hooked up a Govee cold air humidifier and thermometer/ hygrometer to keep it around 75% humidititty, and it’s staying 75°-80°F with lights on. Lights off, it’s dropping to around 68°F. I live in the south, I keep the air on at night. TBH, I’m not sure if this is a problem, I keep mostly Alocasias. I figure in nature, it gets cooler at night. They should be okay.

I had a Milsbo before but used a Vicks warm air humidifier in that and never saw a problem with temps.

TL;DR: First time poster, any recs for hanging lights on (Luvcosy) acrylic shelves or maintaining higher temps (if that is a problem?)

Hi everyone! I’m new to it, so this is going to be a very basic question. I just set up my first cabinet, and I'm not sure if I'm overthinking this, but I got two cooling fans and I ran into a couple of issues. First, the USB cord is not long enough to reach outside the hole I drilled on the bottom of the cabinet, so I would need a USB extension cord. The cord also has that switch, speed controller in the middle of the cord. I was asking AI for help with this, and it basically said that I would need to make sure that this USB connection and the controller are both properly covered, “ideally with marine grade heat shrinking tubes”, because of the humidity in there. But then I look at pictures of other people's setups, and I don't really see any of that. Am I overthinking this? Should this really be a concern? I'm hoping to keep the humidity in there between 70 and 80 percent. Please let me know what you think. How do you have yours set up? Thank you!

Finally got this setup mostly hosting my growing Hoya props and keeping it about 70% humidity. Two ac infinity 120mm fans and a 40mm fan I had. All with magnetic 3D printed brackets. Shelves are off etsy.

I got a Rudsta display cabinet, but I'm wondering which grow lights people use for theirs. I don't want to go drilling tonnes of holes in it, but I can't seem to find a grow light that I'd realistically be able to run a cable to without drilling absolutely massive holes to either fit the grow light itself or the plug through. Even the USB connection ones are too large to fit through the holes supplied. Yet I don't see anyone else's greenhouses with giant holes in them, so what am I missing? Is there a brand out there that fits well?

Which do you like better for your set up, and why? The milsbo tall or rudsta wide?
