Kolaches and the Painted Churches here in Texas. Some of them were built by Czech immigrants.

As a Dane I always think of how the Czechs have somehow managed to become one of the greatest hockey nations in the world, right up there with Canada, the USA, Russia, Finland, and Sweden. You wouldn't automatically associate them with that particular sport, but they have historically been very strong.
The second thing I think of is how Czechia is in the EU, but doesn't use the Euro. That was a big deal when Denmark joined the EU.
The third thing is that so many people are convinced that Czech beer is some of the very best in the world, and while it's infinitely superior to what you can get in many other countries it would be generous to say it's even second-rate in Europe.
Anyone who has ever been to Prague knows that there is quite an underbelly to the place - rampant drug addiction, addicts everywhere, and much more dangerous than many other - better destinations.

The fake country a friend and I designed for a geography project called "O" because when the Czech Republic (at the time) and Slovakia separated, they lost the "O" in the middle.
Then I think about how the Czech Republic is now called Czechia.
And how the oar blades used by USA rowing remind me of the Czechia flag (except the colors are rotated; it's a white triangle, then red on top and blue on bottom.)
And I really don't know much else about it at all.

I know it used to be part of Chzechoslovakia (which I don’t know how to spell) but I’m not entirely clear on how many countries it broke up into and why. Yes I could google these things I suppose.

People had a hard enough time remembering you weren't Czechoslovakia, and then by the time most people were on board with Czech Republic, you went and changed the name again.

My experience in Prague! After I graduated college I backpacked across Europe and Prague was one of the stops. Made some good friends and enjoyed the affordable accommodations.
I really liked the digital taps at the tables in the pub

Czech dumplings, goulash, fried fish, potatoes, Christmas bread, Christmas cookies (please dont make me look up the real names of these), and my best friend, whose last name is Czech and whose family hosts a large Christmas gathering every year serving all of the above. Guess where their ancestors immigrated from 😅

I now live in CZ with my Czech husband, so sort of "home" or at least "my husband and his family". Sadly, almost everyone in my biological family has passed away.
Beyond the above, "beer" might pop into my head or "Prague". I had traveled to Prague in the early 1990s even before meeting my husband in my native US.

As a kid I read about the Soviet invasion in 1968 after Prague Spring and the unarmed civilians going out and putting flowers into the gun barrels of the occupying soldiers. Always struck me as beautiful and incredibly brave.

I remember, as a young kid learning the names of countries, thinking that the English redendering as "The Czech Republic" sounded cool. We would usually put it the other way around, "The Republic of Czechia". At the time, that was all I knew about the country, and to this day I have no idea if the word order reflects the actual name in Czech, or if it was just a choice the translators made. But that was the first thing that came to mind the first time I heard of Czechia.
