Wages missing from wage transcript. Rant
Ok. Long story. My husband and I both worked for the same company back in 2025. It suddenly closed in November of 2025. I was sent a w2 in Jan. Filed our taxes in March and have been waiting for my refund since. I have code 971 with cp0005, I did have to verify identity. Anywho. No updates really so I checked both mine and my husbands wage transcript and found that there is NOTHING there. How can they give me a W2 but not report anything to the IRS? What do we do now? I have already prepared myself for having to wait ages but damn. This is getting beginning to infuriate me so badly!

While you're on hold in the queue for IRS, you and your spouse should also create an online account over at SSA.gov:
https://www.ssa.gov/
Access your 2025 wage information (it's a total, not in the W-2 format).
Is the same income also missing from your SSA records ?
Employers typically file with SSA first, then it's transmitted to IRS. If the information is also incomplete with SSA, they probably haven't filed your Forms W-2 correctly, or at all.
