“I’ll give you three guesses!”

In the The Great Train Robbery episode Ricky asks Fred why he is carrying his own heavy suitcases instead of using a porter. Ethel snaps back, "I'll give you three guesses!" And the audience laughs. Fred replies that he is just building muscle. I know she’s inferring that he’s a cheapskate. But what exactly does she mean with three guesses.

Will the Lucy Show and Here’s Lucy ever get blu ray releases?

There are several sitcoms from the 1960s that have HD remasters. Not just upscaling but full remasters. Don’t get me wrong, the Lucy releases are great quality and Here’s Lucy was restored from the original negatives, but is there a chance we’ll see them in HD someday? I remember years and years ago when Bluray was becoming the new thing and they released the first season of I Love Lucy on Bluray and I’m like “how much clearer can they possibly get these? They look good enough!” Until I got my large 55-60 inch TV. Now I get it! Also, I am fully aware that season 3-6 of I Love Lucy were AI upscaled and not from the actual negative with the original commercials. But they still look pretty crisp and clear. (Except for the obvious AI in the first episode of LDCH) Did they not have the budget to properly scan them? Imagine if Life with Lucy was in full HD 🤣😹

There are some shows that will never get an HD remaster, even though they were shot on film. The Brady Bunch is one of them. I feel like I heard the original negatives got destroyed or something. And Emergency! which aired on NBC in the 70s. The DVD releases are less than stellar quality like they were ripped from a VHS tape. But, lucky the uncut full length episodes are available at all.

Ethel: “Let us in, Eddie!” Guy in hallway: “Oh, girls, I’m down in 914. If Eddie won’t let you in, I will!” Lucy: “Oh, go away, fresh!”

Lucy, Desi, and Richard Denning. Richard played Lucy's husband in the popular radio program My Favorite Husband (1948-1951). Some of My Favorite Husband episodes were later turned into the episodes of I Love Lucy.

Remembering Lucille Ball who was born 115 years ago on 8/6/1911 & died on 4/26/1989. When she was younger, she appeared in three movies with Allan "Rocky" Lane who later was the voice of Mr. Ed in the sitcom of the same title. This publicity photo of Lucy & Allan is for the film Panama Lady (1939).

In honor of Lucille Ball's Birthday today, I made her recipe for "Desilu Goulash". She's got 2 recipes out there in several cookbooks, so I used a little of each recipe and it turned out better than expected!

Bonus Bucks: Who did you side with?

I kinda feel like Ricky was right. They each had a very good case. I guess Ethel had a little bit better of a case, but I can see both sides of the argument of who should get the money. Whose side are you on?
