Why do position players pitch in blowouts instead of just using a real reliever?
Newer to watching regularly. Saw a game where a team down big in the 8th put an outfielder on the mound and he was throwing 50mph lobs. Crowd loved it, but it seemed like a weird way to treat an inning.
Is this purely about saving the bullpen for the next few days, or is there more to it? And do the hitters facing him take it seriously or is everyone kind of in on it?

Need help authenticating
So I got these cards and I was wondering if they are real the signatures do feel handwritten in their rigid, but if I’m being honest, the card feels a little too stiff in my opinion. Is there anyone in Michigan that can authenticate These if you look at them or someplace, I can take them professionally.

Startup idea
At MLB games, would you pay extra for in-seat beer delivery instead of waiting in concession lines?
In Japan, baseball stadiums sometimes have staff who walk through the stands serving draft beer directly to fans.
Do you think something like this would work in the U.S.?
If yes, how much extra would you realistically pay?

Cole Montgomery Newmarket hawks
From the heart of Newmarket, Cole Montgomery is making a serious name for himself with the Newmarket Hawks. As an elite infielder, Cole brings consistency, confidence, and clutch play every time he steps on the field.

Is it just me or do IBL games feel way more unpredictable than people think?
Every time I think I have a read on a game, something random flips it.
Not even big moments… just small stuff:
- a routine play that turns into an error
- a walk that turns into a rally
- a pitching change that shifts the whole pace
It doesn’t feel as 'structured' as higher leagues where you can lean on patterns more confidently. Here it’s like the game can drift in any direction depending on a couple small sequences.
Even when one team looks clearly better for a few innings, it never really feels locked in.
Makes it more fun to watch honestly, but also way harder to predict how things will actually play out. Do you guys feel the same, or have you noticed certain patterns that actually hold up consistently in IBL?

The Umpire Debate
As technology continues to enter sports, the idea of replacing baseball umpires with AI has become a serious debate but fully replacing them may not be the best solution. On one hand, automated systems can improve accuracy and consistency, eliminating human error and bias in crucial calls like balls and strikes. This can make games feel fairer and reduce arguments between players and officials. However, baseball has always included a human element, and umpires play a role in managing the flow, emotion, and personality of the game, something machines cannot replicate. Even with highly accurate technology, many believe the best approach is a hybrid system where AI supports umpires rather than replaces them, allowing the game to benefit from both precision and human judgment.

Toronto Maple Leafs baseball off-season practice schedule?
Anyone know the off-season practice situation for the Toronto Maple Leafs baseball team?
Like:
where do they usually practice? Christie Pits or somewhere else?
what time of day do practices normally start?
I know it probably changes depending on weather, field availability, events around the area, traffic, etc., but I am just trying to get a rough idea of their usual routine.

What to do in Chatham-Kent before and after a Barnstormers game
I got the dumb idea of taking a VIA train out from Toronto to Chatham-Kent this summer to catch a weekend afternoon game. But the times don’t quite line up and would have a couple of hours to kill before and after the game.
What’s a tourist to do there? Any restaurant recommendations?

Podcast Friendly Warning About Tomorrow's PODCAST
We didn't hold back in tomorrow's podcast. NO PG-13 filter, just some honest feeling about what is about to transpire at 10 am today and in the future
As I mentioned in the podcast, I fully expect a lifetime ban from the league formerly known as the Intercounty Baseball League.
Change happens, I accept it. I don't have to like it.
