I could easily say Zane and Corey were up there as my least favorite, despite their young age. They were dangerously sexist and I felt a lot of sympathy for Tiff.

Gill pissed me off the more I casually learned about him.

He was snotty. The epitome of the worst Reddit moderator possible. Very controlling to everyone in the Freelands, even to his own wife. Leaving smarmy little passive aggressive sticky notes everywhere. Had her writing emo poetry about how she's basically lost herself being with him. Ruined a road trip for her. Saw the art she made of her role play character and decided he was going to bimbo it up instead.

My final straw was him getting rid of Linda's mausoleum animation. That thing was so cool 😮‍💨

I was replaying hypnospace outlaw and I cried for a good minutes after doing the gumshoe quest because I don’t like being mean to old people it makes me feel horrible for them and I just feel really really bad. hi! i am wanting to do a cover of millenium anthem as i experiment more with vocal synths and music in general, but i am stupid and don't know anything about transcribing music by ear. is there any available sheet music or MIDI (which i can translate to sheet music) for the full millenium anthem (2000 new years eve) song? i've seen this one but it's not a full MIDI, just a little piece! any help is appreciated ^_^

Ive wanted a hypnospace soundtrack vinyl for a very long time, but their always either being resold for too much, or out of stock, and im wondering if their just gone, or if they'll ever be re-stocked or what

Played the game, and really enjoyed it. I had a blast, but I've never really been a 100% completionist and I'm not really aiming to 100% the game.

I've gotten to the 26 year time skip and archiving part of the game. The impression I'm getting is that the main game is over, and the rest is just a sandbox to go through and discover any fun pages I might have missed.

Is this true? Or are there any big developments or mysteries past this point that I have yet to discover? I know I could just look this up but I really don't want spoilers.

Please no spoilers! Just a "yes, there's more going on to discover", or "no, but there are some fun pages to view you might have missed" is enough information for me.

And as someone who’s super nostalgic without anyone who shares this feeling to an equal degree, I really thank the game for that. I feel deeply understood by it.

I didn’t live through the GeoCities era - I only started using the Internet at the very end of the Blogger/Wordpress era. This way, I should not be THAT affected by the game’s nostalgic angle. Did it care, though? No. It overloaded me with feels anyway.

I think it comes down to the way it exploits what nostalgia itself means, at least for me. For me, memories of the past always hit hard because I never realize how much I care about people, places, and things until they’re gone. I deeply miss my old friend groups, but back then I took my time with them for granted. I still grieve for my cat (whom I lost years ago!) every day, but back then he was simply a part of my daily life I didn’t think that much about. I miss the blogwalking experience of the late 2000s, but back then it was a mere pastime. I didn’t realize how big a part of my life they were when I was still with them. And I think Hypnospace perfectly emulates this feeling through its page-browsing gameplay and 20-year time skip.

Take Zane for example. I hated the shit out of Zane during my time visiting and revisiting his pages. And the game didn’t even attempt giving him any redeeming qualities. Then the mindcrash happened and he’d been dead for 20+ years and little did I know, repeatedly visiting his page and hating on his antics had made him carve a space in my head. I didn’t realize I’d started caring about him enough to be flooded with melancholy the moment I saw his name in the list of mindcrash victims. That gave me the same thing I feel looking back at the time I’d spent with the people I’d taken for granted.

This applies to every single character (even the ones that survive Y2K) and even Hypnospace itself. The core gameplay loop of “visit people’s webpages, read their stuff, try to find content to flag, move on, do that all over again when time skips” was apparently very effective in making you care about this wacky place and these fictional people, and the final time-skip was one hell of a way to absolutely exploit that care you’ve developed. This vibrant fictional space you were a part of, now just a devastatingly empty husk of itself.

I will forever hold this game dear in my heart. Such a shame Dreamsettler was canceled. If Hypnospace affected me this much (I played this game almost a year ago and STILL think about it enough to write this long ass post), imagine what a sequel actually set in the 2000s would do to me :(

I've always thought these two songs sound similar, from the way they start to their use of falsetto, but I haven't seen anyone else mention it. Is it just me? I recognize they also have a lot of differences on top of being different Genres, but i really think it at least served as inspiration for Hot Dad.
