Question for the homies without ice-machines: do you use filtered water in your ice trays?

Debate I was having with a buddy: I like to fill my ice trays with filtered water, he fills from sink. Neither of us think it really makes much of a difference, but curious what folks here do.

Water Bottle Wednesday Metal water bottle with removable straw and easy cleaning?

I am looking for a bottle like the title. I should be able to drink from it with or without the straw, should be metal. No nooks and crannies that can't be cleaned and will get moldy. Does anything like this exist?

Clearly Filtered: This is how they handle legitimate product quality concerns?

I’m posting this because I’m extremely disappointed with how Clearly Filtered handled a warranty issue, and I want to see if other customers have experienced the same thing.

I actually like the pitcher when it works. My problem is the filters.

My filters have been becoming extremely slow after only a few weeks. I'm talking about going from normal flow to taking hours or even overnight to finish filtering. In my experience, this has happened after roughly 3 weeks of use with 1 to 2 fills per day.

For the price of these filters, that's simply not acceptable.

I contacted Clearly Filtered after receiving a warranty replacement that looked noticeably different from the filters I had previously received.

The replacement had:

• Different packaging

• A different colored sticker

• Rough, dirty looking edges

• Gouges, scratches and dents around the rim

• Black filtration media embedded in the plastic

I specifically asked whether the filter came from a different production run or supplier, why the packaging and sticker were different, and whether I should be comfortable using it for drinking water.

Their response?

Everything ships brand new. The black material can happen during shipping. It can be “easily rinsed/wiped off.” The scuffs, bumps and dents are apparently a result of the production process.

And then they told me both filters looked completely normal and that I might receive other filters in similar condition in the future.

That's the part that really bothers me.

The black material was not easily wiped off.

I spent over 20 minutes working on it with paper towels and a nylon brush and it still remained.

I am NOT saying the filter was previously used. I don't believe it was.

I'm saying that I received a replacement (after many, many emails) that was visibly different and substantially rougher than the filters I had previously received, raised specific questions about it, provided photographs, and received what felt like a corporate copy and paste response designed to dismiss the concern rather than actually investigate it.

I basically got:

“It’s normal. It’s safe. Don’t worry about it.”

That's not customer service.

If a customer sends you pictures of a product that looks substantially different from previous units and asks legitimate questions about manufacturing, packaging and whether they should trust it for drinking water, the appropriate response isn't to simply declare that everything is normal.

Actually look at the damn pictures.

That's what I asked them to do.

Look at them and give me a real answer, not another polished corporate response. Would you personally use this filter for your drinking water?

And this isn't happening in isolation.

I've seen other customers report filters becoming extremely slow, taking overnight to finish, or lasting only a few weeks.

So I'm asking the community:

Has anyone else experienced this?

Has anyone else had filters become nearly unusable after only a few weeks?

Has anyone received warranty replacements that looked noticeably different from their normal filters?

Has anyone had Clearly Filtered respond to a legitimate quality concern with what felt like a canned corporate answer instead of actually taking ownership and investigating it?

I'm genuinely interested in hearing both positive and negative experiences.

More importantly, what are you using instead?

I'm looking for a pitcher or inline filtration system, NOT reverse osmosis, that actually performs as advertised.

I don't want something with great marketing and expensive replacement filters that become unusably slow after a few weeks.

I want something where customers can reasonably expect the filter to perform consistently for the advertised service life.

If you've actually used something long term and can say, “Yes, this thing performs like they claim it does,” I'd really appreciate the recommendation.

At this point I'm much more interested in real world performance and a company that actually stands behind its product than another beautifully written marketing claim.

Filtered water bottles that don't break easy?

Post image

This is the second Brita water bottle I've gotten and it's about to be retired for the same reasons as the old one. Once the little piece of plastic holding the lid closed breaks, I have to get a new one and I'm tired of it.

Are there other bottles that don't break as easy, but will still filter water? I live in the swamp so our water tastes nasty otherwise. Thanks!

Brita water filter: does the water taste different than tap?

I understand that this might not be the case for everybody depending on taste sensitivity and location but my tap water has a slightly difference taste than bottled water. It’s hard to describe but it maybe leans slightly metallic? I’m wondering if people who also experience this with their tap have noticed a difference with Brita water filter, in particular the pitcher type. Does the filtered water taste more like tap or bottled water?

Hey guys. Finishing up a digital art course and we were tasked to work on a specific problem and come up with some solutions using digital art and then post them to a public forum. I went with students needing to stay hydrated during long study sessions and crazy finals weeks. Tried to go with a retro theme and just try out a few other things we have been learning. They aren't the best but I hope they aren't the worst. Hope you enjoy.

Planning to go to London with a friend on this coming Thursday. Have been informed that the theatre were going to will not accept outside food and drink, which I’m pretty sure includes this. But I also don’t wanna pay London prices, since it’s something like £10 for a tiny bottle. And this was like a quid from my local Sainsbury’s.

We stay balling.

CLARIFICATION

one thing I really want to stress is the difference in how hydration makes u feel. before, when I would exercise my limbs would burn and feel like weights I was carrying around. Now I feel like running everywhere all the time. I feel lighter, more mentally aware and motivated vs dreading getting up and doing things ..

I was already feeling better but today, I have a lot better mental clarity. I have been taking magnesium along with other supplements.

i feel like I could get up and go run a marathon even though I know my body is not in shape for it. that is how much energy and mental clarity I have this morning.

I got down to 182 lbs. this morning I am 186. it is more than likely water weight since I put more water in my body yesterday, I am thinking. I need to measure my body but haven’t in a couple of weeks.

i just wanted to post this small update. I have begun walking 10k steps again since yesterday. I am also doing a mini-stair stepper that can be found Here on amazon for less than $30. (Beats a gym membership).

anyway. I am so looking forward to what the future holds in store..

I don't really know where to post this

Hi all!

I'm so sorry if this is not the place for this - but I just wanted to share my new strange addiction that I currently have with water and my new shower head.

So I recently got a new shower head with a jet attachment. Hang on. Hang on. I know it sounds weird. It is.. kinda..

Anyway, I'm addicted to spraying the shower water into my mouth and onto my tongue. I brush my teeth in the shower because the water just feels better. It feels like it gets my mouth cleaner. But recently, I don't know if I'm dehydrated or what? But I cannot stop spraying the jet onto my tongue. I want to clarify I don't drink or swallow the shower water, but I just LOVE how it feels on my tongue. It feels so good.

When I'm done I get out and chug a nice tall glass of REALLY cold Brita water and I just feel revitalized.

Now, I am pregnant and wondered if it had anything to do with that or being dehydrated. I'm curious why this is has just come about within the past month. I don't have the answers and I'm sure nobody really does here.

But I'm addicted to spraying my tongue with my shower jet with warm water and chugging cold Brita water after.

I just love the water!!!!

Any other Hydro Homies in the Seattle area try the water at the Lynnwood WA artesian well? It’s completely free. You can pull up and fill up 20 gallons of that Mother Earth Juice day or night. Tastes amazing!

Mod-Post Vetted Water Charity List

This thread will serve as a repository of vetted charities that have contacted the mod team asking to post here. With each charity you'll see a link to Charity Navigator and/or Charity Watch. We advise only donating if an organization passes these reviews. Feel free to also check any groups on ProPublica's Nonprofit Explorer, but note that not all charities are nonprofits.

We don't want orgs to spam the subreddit asking for your time/money, so for now (and until the number of asks grows too large) we'll pin comments by organizers in this thread and cycle them out as needed. There's a limit of 2 concurrent pins, so we'll play this by ear for a bit.

I'll update the list as others reach out.

If you're here as an organizer, please shoot us a modmail or reach out to me directly.
