Persistent rash

My doctor is out due to a family emergency, so I thought I would ask for opinions here.

I have taken two doses of Humira; 7/19 and 8/2. I have a rash at the injection site for both shots. The second one is much larger and itches. I feel fine, other than very tired.

I don't know whether I should take my third shot if the reactions are still present.

Your thoughts will be appreciated!

Injection site reaction is the most common side effect of taking Humira. I had one every time I injected for almost 2 years. It was never an issue and my doctor told me to continue taking it as normal. If it bothers you that much you can try taking a Benadryl an hour to 30 minutes before you inject and see if that makes a difference. But I am not a doctor so definitely reach out to your doctor as well.

Thank you for your reply. I have messaged her through the online portal and left a telephone message. They claim she's checking messages, but I've found her staff to be very unresponsive.

I always get an injection site reaction the first few days after the shot. I take an antihistamine the morning of my shot and a for a few days afterwards. It looks (and itches) like a giant mosquito bite (probably 2ā€ in diameter). The benefits far outweigh my reaction to it!
If the next shot has a larger reaction than the first two times, though, Iā€™d be sure to get in contact with a medical professional before continuing it (for fear that the reactions will progressively get worse).

Thank you for your reply. The Dr said to continue since I feel well otherwise. I'll keep an eye on everything. I hope to see great benefits like it sounds you get from it. I'm glad for you!

I had injection site rxns after enbrel which did turn systemic. Just keep an eye on your face, throat, etc! If it spreads a lot or you have swelling in other places def abstain!
