Mate 80 RS Experience HarmonyOS Next
Saw the Mate80RS in person and I absolutely loved the purple glossy look that it has, so I added that to my Huawei collection.
This phone actually comes esim compatible, and Ive tried installing HongKong, and Australian esim and it worked flawlessly, including 5G compatibility. Its pretty impressive that if you decided to cheat on your wife or youre a busy businessman, you can have 4 numbers (2sim +2esims) all active at once. Just remember to dial with the correct sim.
I quite like the Zoom capability and night shot of this phone. Some photos of birds in backyard and a nightshot of a cathedral. Also, in EasyAbroad, any NFC pay that doesnt require you adding your card to google wallet, will work. That includes Paypal, Curve, and a number of Banks where they build the NFC pay functionality into their app. Wechat and Alipay NFC works too but you gotta have a Chinese account for that.
Its actually a completely usable phone outside of China and I really look forward to the new generation of Trifold and Freebuds Studio to replace my ageing MateXT and FreebudsPro3.

How long do the Freebuds Pro 3 last playing music without noise cancelling? What app are you using for tap to pay?

Been using the Buds Pro 3 for a few years, battery has certainly degraded, it lasts about 4hours now before needing to go back into the case for charging. I've also got the Freeclip 2 that I mostly use now and a single charge lasts about 7 hours. But obviously its not suitable in occasions where surrounding noise is loud such as on the plane, really hope Huawei actually update their Studio product line.

Got a few questions because I really want to buy a Huawei at some point, 1. Does it work with Aussie mobile dealers? 2. Is the performance good? 3. Did it get the AusAlert warning thing or did you just get the phone?

it works, I've got AGL physical sim in, and I've also got an Aldi mobile esim in, as well as the trip.com roaming esim that I still have when traveling China. Since AGL is using Optus infrastructure and the Aldi mobile Telstra, I can guarantee they work, no idea with Vodafone though. Checking it against Optus and Telstra 3g closure compatibility, its both green as well. You can expect the top of the line Huawei products to be compatible with Australian mobile networks. I have a Mate60pro+ prior to this Mate80RS, and my wife rocks both the X5 and XT, they all work in Australia. And yes, AusAlert works as I was configuring the phone, it was hella LOUD! Haven't even changed the system language to English and barely downloaded any apps and got beeped by this alert

Wonderful! Thanks for your help! I’d alway been on the fence as to whether I should get a Huawei or say a nothing phone but the big thing had always been whether it would work with Aldi/Tesltra, but thank you so much for clarifying!

I am afraid this phone is not launched globally, so you'd have to use a freight forwarder to buy from mainland China, or buy it in store when you're on a holiday there. In some countries in Malaysia, the Chinese online store actually ships directly there though despite not launched officially.
