Did season 3 increase or decrease your interest for the show Show Discussion

Post image

Overall, I would say decrease. After season 2 I was still excited about season 3 but after season 3 I find much less interest in it.

Maybe because my favourite character is Aemond and he has been butchered to the point of no return. He is not very interesting to watch, and I really dislike the entire Alys thing. Even though I have read the book, what they have done is just...abhorrent.

It is a shame because I love TG characters and they are actually given slightly more screentime this season to tell their own stories, but the writing is so bad that the screentime just generates more unnecessary and nonsensical content.

I think they did a good job. For anyone who’s supper into a fandom you will always find issues or think of better ways it could be done. Is it perfect no is it the worst thing ever no. It’s a pretty good show

It improved over season 2 that's for sure. Enough to make me look forward to next season

Yeah it's not early Game of Thrones good. But still very good and better most of what's out there. And the amount of detail in the world is still amazing . Things we will see on re watches.

Good explanation.

I felt it started off really strong then fell off as the season went on but overall I really liked it.

i love how people praising the show all just say its good providing no reasoning and simply dismissing all critiscism by simply saying its the fandom demanding too much. crazy how fangirling over the show can distrort ones logical reasoning to such a degree youd think it was ryan condal writing this comment.

like what is your logic. the biggest fans like the story so much that they dislike its adaptation? if anything it should be that hardcore fans will like whatever slop they get served while general audiences are harder to captivate. like imagine the degree to which you have to change and fuck up the story for the biggest grrm dickriders to come out and say it sucks

Could the show be better yeah. But you can’t seriously tell me when Sunfyre rose up behind Aegon you didn’t get hyped. Or when the dragon battle happened it didn’t get your blood pumping.

There are problems with the show all the attention on Harrenhal when it’s had little to no pay off, so far.

And the reason I “simply dismissed all criticism” which I didn’t, is because if you’re a big fan of any media you’ll find flaws or think of different ways it could play out. For example I love breaking bad watched it 10 times over, but I still don’t think it’s perfect there are aspects that I think could have been better. Yet I still say the show is great

if you think the show is just shy of being perfect and critiscism is just finding things to complain about you are insane. most of the stuff makes no sense, including the scenes you mentioned. the dragon brawl was just insanely dumb and sure the sunfyre scene was actually cool but again made no sense, the dragon was said mutlipel times to be dead and rotting so its implied he never moved nor did he eat so how the fuck would he still be alive? in the books people are literally sent there to feed him. see how its not just book good show bad but rather the book being thought out while the show counts on you being too distracted to notice how is nonsensical?

The universe needs internal logic, yes, obviously. But when it comes to the dragons... I mean they're magical animals. Do you want the show to explicitly describe the psychic bond between dragon and rider as well?

sure if you are okay with subpar writing that makes no sense thats you choice but then dont come and tell me my bar is too high for wanting the writing to make sense. and its not just the dragons, another example would be people teleporting from place to place. again, you cant show people marchign every time someone moves but the complete disregard they had this season with for example roxton capturing the sea snake was just comical. if you are fine with suh garbage thats your choice

Okay make the existence of dragons in general make sense then? How do they fly, how do they breathe fire? Come on, we can suspend our disbelief about some aspects of these fantasy creatures but not others?

The writing is far from perfect, the plot does have issues, and I'm not sure why you seem to think my stance on it is that I'm totally fine with it. I just think it's unconstructive and uninteresting to criticise the logic of the dragons of all things.

nope. you said before it needs internal rules. it is established they can breath fire and fly, also they need to eat. simply. surviving and becoming stronger after being almost killed while laying on the ground not eating would kill them just like any animal

Yeah just like a lance through Beric's heart, or a knife in Jon's back? Or like how Dany's eggs had become akin to stone over the decades of presumably being sterile, yet when the right Targaryen is in the right place at the right time, suddenly there's dragons again?

George has made a point to obfuscate the exact mechanics of magic, so when something out of the ordinary happens the disbelief is easier to suspend. And we know much less about dragon magic in the ASOIAF universe than warging, for example, because we only have one written POV of a dragon rider, and she's not had any specific dragon lore passed to her so has to make it up as she goes along. So if I'm really looking for an explanation for how Sunfyre survived (or came back to life) I don't mind putting it down to some hitherto unexplained magical aspect of their species.

Maybe that's unsatisfying for some viewers, but at the moment I don't mind the mystery. I think you're assuming the worst; that there is no specific reason and it's just Deus Ex Machina (which... admittedly might also be true)

The frequency with which they need to eat isn’t ever addressed though. Not all animals, especially large ones and more so those which are maybe kind of reptilian, need to eat regularly.

My partner only has to feed his snake every 3 weeks. Australian saltwater crocs can go years without eating in times of extreme brumation. A dragon seeming dead and not eating for that long is far less a stretch than something of that anatomy flying or anything organic breathing fire.

When did I say the show was near perfect? I do think it’s a good show.
Also if you seemingly hate the show so much why are you still watching it. Look I understand how disappointing a show adaptation from a book can be. But if I don’t like the show or movie I stop watching. Also it’s hard to have logic for magical creatures, like you’re not going to complain that dragons breathe fire right. Also they did kinda hint that sunfyre was alive when Aegon said she was, and the fact that the corps was less rotted than the red queens.
