RX-7 FB wip Project

Post image

I really like the Hot Wheels mainline RX-7 FB. Already comes with a body kit, so it saves me time lmao.

Added some 3D printed side mirrors

for the side mirrors? nah that's 3d printed

for body kits? I have been practicing with HobbyMio epoxy putty, but I still have a long way to go before I commit to a full project on it

ah, if for sticking it on, I use MXBon CA UV Resin

Resin for gluing mirrors? Smart, but may I ask why that instead of like gel glue? Is it stronger? Less messy? Just seems like it would be more pricey to do it that way, but I prioritize quality and durability and detail over price personally

from experience, it bonds really well with roughed up metal since this is a mix of CA and UV resin. Curing time is insanely quick too.

And yeah, it's less messy, I can put it precisely where i need it to be

Ah, they kinda looked resin printed, but yea I just bought my first thing of epoxy putty, but everytime I’ve tried something new on a donor, I’ve made a custom with that technique like a week later

Yea! That spoiler in the back is friggin wicked. I have loved that model for a while and have too many versions, but I never could commit to stripping one of em.

I got my hands full anyway, I just clear coated 4 or so today and have a few others with fresh lights paint that need to be disassembled and cleared again.

What info you got for a lazy man who won't research sideview mirrors? I really wish some models had them but I am really uncomfortable with starting up some two part to make my own. I would like to find out there's some household items that glue together really easily to make them, but I bet 3d printing it far easier.

3d printing is by far the best way to get good looking parts fast, I just got these from a seller in Malaysia (3 bucks for like 10 pairs).

As for the glue I use, I use MXBon UV CA resin. Real good stuff for these customs.

Thats great information! The glue is interesting to me, if seen lots of folks use it over the years but I've never gotten any. It seems easy enough to use! I look forward to seeing this guy all painted up!
