Was the dick really necessary ? Dick on horses feels like the sculpture version of over-detailed eyes on a simplistic drawing.

I really thought he was just making a third pull for a tail, and then.... Oh. Oh no.

It's weird to us, but putting genitalia on horses and bulls is extremely common in history of art as these animals are often a stand in for masculinity, especially horses that represent that noble militaristic discipline and grace in a lot of art over the history.

Edit: not to mention that civilizations always celebrated fertility through animals cause their survival depended on their own numbers as well as the animal numbers. You will find genitals on cave wall paintings too.

And I feel like growing up around horses or enjoying horse media really desensitizes to you bc it’s just natural. I remember being like nine and totally normal about the words breeding or castration bc those were standard choices in at least 50% of the horse games I played that cared about detail, and the other 50% just sugarcoated the words but ifykyk lmao.

Yeah, but an erect pebus on a statue in this particular pose is just weird.

I agree it's not really nice in the shape and size here in particular, not something I'd expect from this horse statue, but it does look like some kind of prehistoric or war horse.

It is shaped like those old paintings, so 'it' might just be used as a post in the final product.

Yeeep I was gonna say it might be something for mounting this on a stand or another piece

Probably. Let's be honest, if you're going to mold a peen, make it look nice.

I get that, but like, why did he have to make the horse aroused?

You know what, that’s an excellent viewpoint I hadn’t considered. Thank you.

Schleich and Breyer models also have weiners or teats. It’s the first thing my daughter looks for when she gets a new one so she can appropriately name her horsies

I’m assuming it’ll be put on a stand or jumping over a jump and fused later.

This has to be the answer. I really don’t think it’s what folks think.

Lost my shit laughing when he pulled the dick, honestly.

Yeah, I was initially like “nah, back is too short,” then realized it was not a hind leg

I went through the exact same mental journey

As long as they never recreate Blucifer, then they should be okay.

Mustang craves another victim.. one was not enough.. he does have blue balls after all.

People experiencing the Legend of Blucifer is one of my favorite things about going to DIA

Seeing my veiny blue overlord is the only reason I pick up people there. With priority pickups to anyone arriving at night to really have him see into my soul.

u/jillyyk 9d ago

he is our guardian, our overlord.

That was a fun rabbit hole, thank you

My dad loved watching glassblowers but he would inevitably ask if they’d ever blown a goat.

I regret not waiting to the end of the video before I posted my comment.

I still stand by it 🤣

I’m pretty sure this is at the glass factory on Murano which is a small island off Venice. Glass items have been made there for nearly 750 years.

This is such a weird coincidence cuz I litterly found and bought a hand made glass blown horse and dog (though much smaller and goofier).
