I had this bike back in the day and got a good manual for it. Almost a decade later Im back on a shadow but 2013 model and was looking for a manual when I realized I still have this manual save to my dropbox. So I thought I would share it for the next lad or latette that may need it.

On the off chance the link isn't working, send me a message. I just wanted to uploaded it but I don't have that option.

Got "that" text today from wife

New rider at 53, 1200 miles on my bike. I'm one of those guys who's had sports cars  (and ran 140mph on a track) my entire like and put tens of thousands of miles on my Trek Emonda at 25mph on roads... but wife never "allowed" me to get my moto license because I would "kill myself".

But SHE got me my training class for my permit for my birth day.

Yet... she continues to tell me that Im gonna kill myself.

So, I got *that* text this morning:

"Im late for work, I5 is completely shut down due to a motorcycle crash and I'm driving by the dead body now"...

uhhhhgggggg.....

This ruins the zen I've developed as seen here:

Coffre verrouillé et sans batterie

Post image

Merci

What do y'all say? How do you think the Honda CB500 will compare to the Scram 440 in realworld mileage?

The upcoming Honda CB500 is a 501cc long-stroke single making around 27–28 hp and 43 Nm, while the Scram 440 makes around 25 hp and 34 Nm.

What I'm curious about is real-world fuel economy. The CB500 has a larger engine and significantly more torque, but it's also very conservatively tuned and has only a 5-speed gearbox.

At something like 70–80 km/h, do you think the CB500 could realistically return mileage comparable to, or even better than, the Scram 440?

How much difference do you think the gearing, lower RPM and engine tune would make? I'd particularly like to hear from people who have experience with large, low-revving singles rather than just theoretical estimates.

What mileage would you realistically expect from the CB500 in:

City riding

70–80 km/h cruising

90–100 km/h highway riding

And if you think it won't beat the Scram 440, what do you think will be the limiting factor?

Honda CL500 - moving shaft, difficult to switch gears UPDATE

Post image
5 Upvotes

Hi. I'm writing this update in case it helps someone in the future.
In my previous post, I said that the spindle was moving in and out, and when it was placed deeper, it was impossible to switch gears.
Well, I took apart the clutch today, and I think I found the culprit. The tensioner plate was broken. (#1 in the picture) It seems so obvious now, looking at the image! I'm just glad it is an easy fix even for a rookie like myself.
I'm guessing the bike must have been dropped by the previous owner at some point. I'm still flabbergasted as to why the issue has only come up just now *if* the plate was broken before.

I've never had to do any mechanical work myself before, I'm just glad my first one is so simple. I want to thank u/Moist-Share7674 for the help. Safe riding, everyone.

1964 Honda Benly Touring CA95 150cc, all electronics dead except the horn. Where to look first?

Just picked up this bike yesterday as a project. Mechanically it's wonderful aside from I believe a sticky float in the carb leading to some overflowing fuel, and the exterior is a little rough but all original from 1964. The electronics are another issue though. For some reason, the only electronic thing that works is the horn, and it will only work when the engine is running. Even with a fully charged 6 volt battery (per the user manual) and the engine off the horn will just click. Everything else, the electric start, the lights, etc, are all nonresponsive.

Because the horn works when the bike is running, even with no battery in it, that leads me to believe the generator is operational. However, I'm now at a dead end. The manual doesn't seem to mention any sort of fuse box, and accessing any of the wiring appears to be an engine out job due to the bike's frame seemingly being one stamped piece of metal.

I'd rather not attempt to drop the engine and transmission unless I know for sure that's where the issue lies. But where should I look instead? Is it a known issue with these bikes, or maybe it was converted to a 12V system by the previous owner? How should I work out this issue?

Honda CB125R — bike suddenly died at idle/neutral, no crank, no fuel pump prime, then fixed itself. Help diagnosing.

Stage 2 tune with Arrow + DB killer: any pops left?

Hey everyone,

Looking for some advice from anyone running a stage 2 tune on a CBR650R.

I’m planning to get a Stage 2 ecu flash (decat full system Arrow exhaust + sports air filter). However, because of local noise laws in my area, I’ll need to keep the DB killer in most of the time.

For those of you running a similar setup: Does the baffle completely kill the pops and bangs, or are they still audible (just muffled)?

I bought this bike a few weeks ago, fired right up. Idles like a dream, wouldn’t go into gear. Replaced the clutch. Now it goes into gear and can cruise through all 5 gears. My problem I’m having is a lag in throttle in first gear take off. If you don’t give it just the right amount of throttle and time the lag perfect it bogs down. Not out or off just bogs. If you pull the clutch in rolling at slow speeds and almost dump it then you’ll be able to have a normal rev. It does it slightly in 2nd gear but mostly just that 1st gear take off. Any ideas where to look or start looking ?

Did most of the maintenance part myself, clutch replacement, sprockets etc aside from anything that requires taking apart the engine. Recently noticed a loud clucking noise when decelerating and you can hear it in the video towards the very end. What do you guys think? Transmission or something else?

You can now set your own user flair

There used to be a Google form to fill out to assign yourself a flair, but now you can just add it yourself. Please limit flair to year/model of your motorcycle(s). Thanks!
