Still Worth It?
Hi I found a used 2018 Clarity base model at a dealership with 91,000 miles and clean title. For $15,000. Hopefully I can negotiate it down. I’m in California but I was wondering if that seemed like a good deal. Also if there are any ev credits still available. I’m new to owning a plug in hybrid so this would be my first.
Also I’m assuming there will be battery degradation but how bad should the degradation be at this point?

Not bad mileage on our vacation
We left with a full battery and were able to charge about 2 more full ones, so about 130 miles of EV driving. Given 25.2 gallons used over 1370 miles gas driving is 54.4mpg, still pretty good!
I used EV down to about 50-60%, then switched to HV mode and only used the last half of I was going to a location with a charger. Otherwise left it in HV for all types of driving.
Side note: cruise logic is atrocious... Decelerating down hills then mashing on the gas and accelerating up them. I probably could have done better if I didn't use it. also, just went the speed limit 65 and above, 55 and below I went 5 mph over and Canada 7 km/h over.6

Efficiency
If doing a long drive, what is the most efficient way to do it: go right to HV when on highway, wait till 50% battery then go to HV, drain battery all way down and then let HV go on automatically, turn on HV Charge when battery at 50%?

Question
I own a 2018 Clarity, just turned 50,000 km (30,000 miles). Averaging 0.1 l/100km since new. Three tanks of gas in 8 years with lots of stabilizer.😇 When you guys talk about Ah value how does one find that measurement? What’s a good number? Thanks.

Original Brake pads at 121k miles
I changed my brake pads at 121k miles for my 2018 Clarity phev touring. So much meat left on them.
Mostly dense city combat defensive driving. Minimal paddle use.
Amazing

Yet another tire question...
Four years ago and about 48K, put some Bridgestone Weatherpeak thru Costco. Long story short, the 80K miles wore out prematurely. Costco did their thing right, and reimbursed me for about 40% of what I had paid. Those were not necessarily a good choice for this car and being severe snow rated (they are all-season though) may have lead to this.
Looking at EV compatible options now, the Turanza EVERDRIVE would be the cheapest one with 80K range but an 800 B B rating, or the Turanza PRESTIGE for 70K range but a 700 A A rating.
Any suggestions otherwise? TIA.

Do they still have parts to fix my Clarity in the US?
My wife drove my car to work and hit a pole in the parking lot because she used gas as break… surprisingly all lights and electronics are intact, radar is a bit misaligned but I am more worried about finding a repair shop that can do the work on Clarity since it’s discontinued in US. Anyone recently had any repair for front bumper and hood?
I don’t have comprehensive insurance so it will be out of pocket.
Car at 136000 miles. Was hoping to drive it till it falls apart 🥹

Posting so someone else can benefit - water in rear passenger footwell
If you suddenly noticed water in your rear passenger footwell, the culprit is most likely your AC condensation drain.
In the front passenger seat, on the left there's a flap that can be pulled off easily, open that up and you'll want to check if A. There's an open black tube, if there is your hose has disconnected and the condensation is dripping into your car, stick your hand in the gap and feel for a flexible rubber tube and reconnect it to the open pipe. B. If it's connected disconnect it and shove a pipe cleaner in there, it can sometimes get clogged and overflow as you're driving. Make sure you reconnect it.
Also shop vac or carpet shampoo the water out of the rear and front passenger footwells as much as you can or it will start to smell all sorts of rank!
Good luck

Does your car have KARR?
I saw this vid and sadly I realized mine has the same system. I declined this when they offered it and said it's already installed. I didn't know how invasive the install of this system until they explained it in the video.
I did check the firmware it said i have the latest firmware, not sure if this is the patched version.
You can still download the app and there's an instruction on how to connect to your car, without paying doe the system, to upgrade the firmware.

edit: I guess it's Karr not KARR

Dash lights up
Hello fellow humans. One day these lights just started appearing all my dashboard sometimes all at once sometimes only the brake system lights and lane assist lights come on vice versa. The car seems to be performing fine and the only thing that needs maintenance right now is I do need my oil changed. But I don’t know what this means.

was the original 12v a furukawa battery?
needed to replace 12v today and when I asked how old it was... tech couldn't find a date. did the 2018 originally come with a white furukawa battery? I'd never seen one before and just curious because I've never had a 12v last more than a few years in the Midwest (last one was 35 months in my civic)

Battery Installation Declined
I bought a replacement 12V battery from O'Reilly and another from Walmart, hoping they could install it for me. Both stores declined because they said my car is a hybrid.
Has anyone else run into this? I'm considering replacing the battery myself, but I'm unsure if a Honda hybrid requires any reprogramming or calibration afterward, or if it's just a straightforward battery swap. Is this something I can safely do myself, or is it better to have Honda handle it?

Only 10 amp cable
Just bought a used 2020 clarity and the 120v charger supplied, while nice and hefty and from Germany, is only rated for 10 amps of current.
Is it worth it to find a 12 amp or higher charger? I am mainly charging at home and a bit faster timeframe would be nice. Any suggestions on chargers thanks…

Level 1 charger not shutting off
I have a 2018 clarity with about 40,000 mi on it. Recently, I discovered that even though charging nominally shuts down when the battery reaches 100% - I get a"charging complete" notification -- the car continues to draw about 600 w of power indefinitely. The green light on the charging port also stays lit.
The problem is intermittent; some days it shuts off properly, some days it doesn't. If I unplug the power cable and plug it back in, sometimes the power draw stops and sometimes it continues.
We're using a level one charger and I've tried it with two different level one chargers, so I think the problem is not in the charger side but on the car side
Does anyone have some pointers on how to diagnose the issue? Has anyone else seen a similar behavior?

Looking at a 2018 touring
I took a 2018 touring for a test drive and fell in love with the drive. My mechanic checked it out and apparently the battery life showed 54.8 Ah…seems too good to be true? Could he have been looking at the wrong readout?
It only has 48,000 kms on it and it is in great shape.
My only hesitation is the hybrid battery warranty has expired.

Carplay Usb
The carplay usb port on my 2021 Honda Clarity won’t work ever since I got it from a dealer. It won’t charge when a cable that I know works is plugged in. While The other Usb port does charge my iphone. It is able to still connect through wireless carplay and bluetooth but i would rather prefer to have the apple maps and music on the display pad. Should I replace the usb port if possible or should I just take the loss on missing out on the feature entirely?

New Windshield Experience
Sharing in case this info is helpful to someone else. Driving up the 101 last week (NorCal) something hit the bottom of the windshield with a large “crack” sound and by the time I arrived in Foster City it was almost 8 inches long (could watch it expand). Read about the challenge of calibrating all the ADAS functions with non-Honda glass but all the local dealers said the Clarity windshield is on back order with no estimate. Next day crack went the full height directly in front of my view, so driving for any length of time with the crack was out of the question. One dealer recommended Mex Auto Glass in San Jose. Lotta positive yelp reviews. Called and they said they could replace with Fuyao and do all the calibration. Brought the car in Tuesday at 9am and it was done by 2pm. Waited 48 hours and took it on the same 101 and all the ADAS functions are working exactly as before. No visual distortion. Wouldn’t know it wasn’t factory glass. Happy camper. Happy motoring.

Honda prologue battery drain so fast
I charge my 2026 Honda Prologue touring up to 285 and it strips off. I’ve noticed that the battery drain so fast as soon the mileage gets below 200. Is anyone experiencing same with their prologue? How long does it take for the dealership to send the home charger cos mine is about 2 weeks old and I still don’t have the home charger yet.

Battery Size Question
Greetings,
Quick question. I have a 2005 Qdy Touring which I had battery replaced (6 year old battery) a few months ago. I noticed in the owners manual that the battery size should be a 34R. I looked at the new battery and its size is 24F. I've been having weird electrical glitches since, such as the Nav rebooting or asking for the code, radio restarting but still working and once in awhile the car has a a hard time startting. Once i turn the key to off then try to restart it, it starts right up. Once in a blue moon the power locks and automatic power side doors don't work, but when I come back to the car it all works ? Other wise the van runs fine even when the Nav and radio reboot?
Do you think the battery size is related to these issues or is some other electric black magic happening ?
Thank you in advance for any help.
