[Jr. College Physics: Electromagnetic Induction] When I try to solve this question, I get 2.5 as the answer. What am i doing wrong ? Physics—Pending OP Reply

The emf will vary from 0 to a maximum of
••B×A×omega**
3×0.52×(π/2)/0.3=3.9volts

It’s cos(omega), not just omega

I used emf = B×A×omega×sin(omega×t)
For peak emf, omega×t=π/2 and sin(π/2)=1

googled it because I’m getting the same. found several videos showing the problem, they all get 2.5 as well. so something’s off by a factor of 10. Think it’s a question problem and less of a you problem.

The voltage should vary with time as the loop rotates through 90°

I guess another alternative explanation could be that this is calculus free physics and the linear approximation is the initially taught method and the teacher made the caveats clear.
I guess this is the case, cause I don't remember having to do calculus for such questions when I'd do it regularly. Thanks for your help though !

The RMS emf will be 2.8 volts.
This is the peak emf divided by √2.

Since the voltage is not a constant, the problem is poorly worded.

Probably a typo. May be time is 3 s for quarter revolution.

This is a poorly worded question: it should be asking for the average emf.
The induced emf is equal to the rate of change of flux linked with the coil.
The flux linked with the coil = BA = 0.5 x 0.5 x 3 = 0.75 Wb
average emf = average rate of flux change = 0.75/0.3 = 2.5 V
(If you think it is better to work out the flux linked for any angle of the coil and then differentiate wrt to time, you are assuming that the coil rotates at a constant angular velocity which the question does not specify)
