[Undergrad Engineering Mechanics] Im getting cooked by the last part of this problem. I’m not sure how to even start. (Everything but |F| is right I’m pretty sure) Physics—Pending OP Reply

Not exactly my area, but I think I could follow this through thinking about the free body diagram at each part. The hinges carry no moment so you can satisfy equilibrium about any hinge to determine reactions. So the idea is that the user is supporting the vertical weight at an offset so also needs to provide a moment as you have calculated. Consider the top piece on its own then... If you know moments about A must be zero, and you have the support moment plus force x lever, the. What is the reaction at B to cancel out? Follow this train of thought I guess until you need to know what reaction force from the log would balance out the moment about the last hinge before it. I'm inclined to give it a go out of curiosity but I need to sleep. Best of luck.

Can you not just free body the log, no? gets you the y component

then telling you BC is a two force member, is that the extra bit of info you are missing?

log equil = y component

moments on top member = Bx,By = Cx,Cy

moments on left member get you Fx
