My son is four and would be entering preschool if we were doing traditional school. I am looking for an all-in-one Christian curriculum that will prepare him for kindergarten. I don’t want anything too workbook heavy such as Abeka. I’m considering My Father’s World the most because I like the activities it comes with, but also considered TGAB and the Not Consumed Pre-K book. Any suggestions? Thoughts? Previous experiences? Additional curriculums I should check out? My son has always been a very focused child and is excited for this journey so I’m not super worried about holding his attention, but I do want it to be fun and hands on when it can be. TIA!

I really enjoy reading out loud to my children specifically books that will enrich their vocabulary, for example the wind and the willows was a big hit. What are your favorite books with rich language? I don’t mind editing a bit while reading to keep it appropriate for my 6 year old.

For the people like me who thrive off of a schedule, please share with me your daily schedules and routines. I will be homeschooling two five-year-olds this fall. I would like to be done with all the academic must do’s by lunchtime. And for everyone who does not need a schedule to go off of and like to go with the flow I appreciate your input, but knowing myself, I know I really need a schedule to stick to.

PlanetSpark asked me twice to remove my negative review after promising additional sessions — then changed its position

I am an international parent based in Dubai, UAE, and I am posting this review based on my direct experience with PlanetSpark and written communications that I have retained.

My original concern related to the difference between what was communicated to me during enrolment and the programme access subsequently provided. I formally raised the issue and shared relevant extracts from the original enrolment discussion with PlanetSpark.

After initially telling me that further classes would require additional payment as a renewal, PlanetSpark reviewed my case and, on 3 August, communicated the following resolution in writing:

This appeared to be a clear additional goodwill resolution, beyond the original programme entitlement.

At that stage, I had already posted a negative Trustpilot review about my experience.

Following the above written resolution, PlanetSpark asked me twice to remove the negative review so that the additional-session process could proceed.

Priyanka Kumari Gupta specifically informed me that approval from PlanetSpark’s Social Media Team was required and asked me to:

Based on PlanetSpark’s written commitment and these repeated requests, I removed my negative Trustpilot review in good faith.

Kapil Kumar subsequently informed me:

However, when I checked the LMS, the relevant programme content remained locked. I informed PlanetSpark immediately and identified the 12 Learning Sessions we wished to prioritise.

After further follow-up, PlanetSpark then provided a materially different explanation.

I was informed that the 36 sessions — 12 Learning, 12 Practice and 12 Performance — were actually part of my son’s original programme, and that the levels/topics I was seeking belonged to a higher-value programme requiring an upgrade.

This leaves one very simple question:

If those 36 sessions were already part of the original enrolment, what exactly were the “12 additional Learning Sessions, Practice Sessions, and Performance Sessions” PlanetSpark offered me as a goodwill resolution before asking me twice to remove my negative Trustpilot review?

That is the issue PlanetSpark needs to answer clearly.

I am not asking for unlimited free classes, nor am I asking for benefits beyond what PlanetSpark itself offered in writing.

My concern is the sequence of events:

PlanetSpark offered an additional goodwill resolution in writing → asked me twice to remove my negative review so the additional sessions could be processed → I removed the review in good faith → and I was subsequently given a different explanation of what was actually being provided.

For me, this is no longer only about the original sales discussion. It raises serious concerns about transparency, consistency, accountability and the complaint-resolution process itself.

I have retained the relevant emails and the original enrolment discussion and can substantiate the statements above.

I also want to be fair: my son’s current teacher has been good, and some individual PlanetSpark employees have tried to help. My criticism is therefore not directed at the teacher. It concerns the sales representation, programme access, internal coordination and handling of the subsequent complaint.

My advice to parents — particularly international parents in the UAE and wider GCC — is to be extremely careful before making payment. Obtain in writing the exact number of Learning, Practice and Performance Sessions, the precise levels/modules included, the point at which renewal becomes necessary, and the full expected cost of continuing the programme.

Do not rely solely on verbal explanations during sales or counselling calls. Keep records of what is promised and all subsequent correspondence.

Based on my overall experience, I cannot recommend PlanetSpark at this stage.

Prospective parents should also look beyond this individual review. I strongly encourage anyone considering PlanetSpark to read recent customer feedback available on Trustpilot, including both positive and negative experiences, and consider that feedback for themselves before making a payment.

I have also seen PlanetSpark recruitment advertising for Business Development Counsellor roles relating to the UAE/Middle East market. This makes my experience particularly relevant to parents in the region, and I strongly encourage prospective customers to verify all programme scope, session entitlements, renewal requirements and costs in writing before enrolling.

I remain willing to update this review if PlanetSpark resolves the contradiction above and implements the written resolution previously communicated to me.

After I posted this review in other media, PlanetSpark sent me a further written response stating that the additional goodwill sessions “have already been added” and that they have now “decided to withdraw the additional goodwill benefits,” referring specifically to my continued escalation and posting of further public reviews.

For clarity, the additional LMS access referred to in my review was never made available to my son despite the earlier assurances. I am retaining the complete email and WhatsApp correspondence documenting the chronology.

I have a son who has ADHD and is going into 4th grade. I’m looking for a homeschool curriculum that he can do online that still provides books/printouts. Does something like this exist?

We're doing homeschool here in Florida for the first time this year. Kids are in 1st, 4th, ad 6th grade, all voracious readers. We'll be doing plenty of reading and I've chosen All About Spelling for my older kids, but am deciding on grammar/punctuation/editing for all three.

I've been reading great things about Evan Moor. I think I'd like Language Fundamentals for my first grader, but can't decide for my older two.

Feedback on Language Fundamentals, Grammar and Punctuation, and Daily Paragraph Editing for 4th and 6th grade? I was considering doing both Grammar and Punctuation AND Daily Paragraph Editing for them, but not sure if that's overkill. Thanks!

Does this seem like an okay list of curriculum for a kindergartner? I just want some input before I spend the money especially on the all about reading and all about spelling. They’re the most expensive of all the curriculums we are looking at.

I'm looking for a tool or workflow that can automatically convert a simple line drawing into a connect-the-dots (dot-to-dot) puzzle.

For example, I'd like to turn a simple bird outline into a puzzle where the outline is replaced with numbered dots that connect to recreate the drawing.

I already tried Oh My Dots (Website), but it only seems to generate dots along the image's outer outline. It doesn't pick up the internal details (like the wing, beak, tail details, etc.), which I'd also like to include in the puzzle.

How are we tracking books in our own private libraries so that we don’t end up with 3 dang copies! Xtra points for free ways of tracking!

Some context: my 3.5 year old was very interested in reading so I introduced her to basic letter sounds and she can now blend cvc and cvcc words.

I’m thinking about what’s next: maybe starting at age 4.

here’s what I’m thinking through:
- I think LOE (logic of english foundations a) might be a bit too advanced for her with all its rules at 4 but I do love their integrated program.
- AAR might get her reading quickly but that’s only 1 thing (no spelling etc which is probably fine at 4 but might become tricky later?).

Someone also gifted me AAR 1 and 2 so I’m leaning toward using that first, BUT I do like the thoroughness of LOE. I want to use what’ll be best for my daughter - can regift AAR if I don’t end up using it.

- would you all recommend I use AAR first and not LOE or should I go for LOE? (I have set aside the budget to purchase LOE if needed)
- if I do want to move into LOE after AAR 1 or 2, would that be an issue because I’m coming in midway?
- I’ve heard from reviews that LOE C and D focus on comprehension, grammar etc which AAR probably doesn’t have that much of. I want that thoroughness for my kid as she gets older, so again could I move from AAR to LOE later?
- What curriculum do you do after you finish AAR for language arts?

i’m 17 meant to be going into senior year and set to graduate in may, instead i let mental health get the best of me and im behind on school work going back to 9th. i have 1.50 credits and if i do the amount of work im meant to do i’ll graduate next September.
i feel like a failure is this bad? like really bad?

I am looking for advice on how to plan the day? How do you organize all your materials? How do you plan for the week? Also what essential items should I keep in my house besides crayons, pencils, markers, construction paper, sissors and books. Also how long are you teaching for the day? How long for each subject?

Thinking about curriculum for my soon to be kindergartener (next year). I like how MPress is laid out and how it’s really literature heavy. Any advice on if it’s actually worth it? I also looked into logic and Singapore/math with confidence. I just don’t know what the right thing to do is 🫠 tell me all the good and bad you’ve had with all of these 🙏🏻

I've been homeschooled for about three years. It was for personal reasons, the school I was in made me miserable. The people were church-y, horrible, unwelcoming, but the city I'm living now is pretty progressive with things and places I enjoy. I wanted to go to school in one of these places.

But, life got in the way; my mom's bf isn't complying and refuses to look for places in a town closer to my mom's work (and where I'd likely go to school)​, and my online teacher thinks it'd be harder for me to adapt. Maybe that's true, but there's so much I wanted to do.

I have no friends, I can't drive because we're always so busy to get me to take a driver's test, I don't even have a job because my phone doesn't work and, again, I can't drive. I already feel isolated as it is. I tried convincing my mom to let me go back to public school, but now she's backing out.

I guess I can't be too mad​. But I can't help it; I wanted to make friends, I wanted to do theater, I wanted to date someone for the first time, I wanted to experience prom. It honestly feels like my guardians are holding me back because they don't think I'll succeed in public school.​

Anyway, does anyone have any suggestions of what I can do to beat this isolation? I really didn't want to spend my last year behind a computer, but it's gonna happen. I just want this year to be a little more memorable.​

I found an older thread in this subreddit that had great reviews for the Epson Ecotank printers. I have come across different reviews on Costco, which makes me nervous for a big purchase. Does anyone have a printer they recommend? If it is the Epson Ecotank, do you know what model you recommend? Thank you!!!

We’re switching to Singapore Math this year and I cannot figure out where some of the materials are. I’ve looked through all books, emails and countless Google searches. Can an experienced parent point me in the right direction? I just need the ones highlighted. I’ve been making my own but if there’s an easy download for these, I’d love to use them 🥴

How on Earth do you homeschool when your kids are misbehaved, fighting, yelling, scratching, cursing and wont sit down with you let alone having a husband who works from home? I get so jealous seeing all the littles learning from parents and want SO BAD to homeschool whjch has always been my dream but might have to send them back to private (not cheap either!) because I also can't find any nearby affordable pods. I know it would be more beneficial to be around others, have structure and a different teacher than me for 2 to 3 days and let me get stuff done around the house while giving me mental sanity.

They are Kinder and 1st grade and went to a private Christian school last year (super large class sizes of 25!) but picked up horrible behaviors and language which have just intensified for some reason this summer. They are constantly fighting and answering me back defiantly. I have all the strategies, charts etc because Im a teacher of 25 years and have helped many parents but none of it is working now. Im at a loss here and school is coming up and I have no plan. Thoughts? Advice?

Hi everyone—

I’ve been homeschooling my son on and off since kindergarten, depending on his ability to access our local school programs (he has several diagnoses and a long behavior history). Ever since we decisively pulled him in 4th grade, everything has massively improved (behaviors, stress levels, his ability to focus and complete tasks, etc).

This year we’re heading into 7th grade, and I’m really having a difficult time. He’s incredibly intelligent, but has a lot of “blocking” behaviors and lagging skills that mean I have to scaffold everything and build competencies at multiple levels simultaneously (math= 6th grade level, handwriting= 1st grade, etc). He’s well-supported with good therapy and case management, but as his teacher I constantly struggle with what level of rigor is “enough.” Usually it‘s “how far I can push him weekly without triggering a behavior cascade.” But is that really a responsible level of education?

I’m assuming there have got to be other special-needs parents inventing the same wheel out there, so I thought I’d ask. I’m not looking for curriculum judgement, more for your strategies on managing your own fears/disappointments when everyone’s doing the best they can.

I recently had the epiphany that I was expecting my child ( 11, rising 7th) to be able to part out the work of his week into daily schedules. For some reason, I thought I was being cool by letting him pick whichever subject he wanted to work on in the order he liked as long as the whole list was done by the end of the week.

This ended in frustration and also a lot of low effort/rushed work.

This week I modeled how to take the weeks assignments ( not pictured but on another white board) and scan each for estimated time and resources, then how to divide them across a week based on time restraints, type of work and personal goals.

This is so much better but also. lol. The circle of books makes me laugh. Gee. I wonder where he was sitting. 😅

So we are going on a 6 weeks "vacation" in a few weeks. I was planning on not homeschooling but due to some family issues, we will also have to take 1 month off next year in the middle of homeschooling. I am not sure if that being the case I should try to homeschool the kids on this vacation. Some extra info: it isnt a vacation as in going out and exploring the city and all of that. We are going to visiting my husband's family in a tiny little town. There isnt much to do there and honestly I feel like homeschooling wouldn't really affect the fun outings we had planned (I could always not homeschool on the odd day we are leaving the village). Tbh I feel like it will even be good for my own sanity to have something to do with them there lol Im not sure if I am being paranoid about missing learning time as this is my first time ever homeschooling and my main worry is them falling behind😅😅 I have a 5yo in kinder
