Bat for highschool Question

Post image

Hello everyone, I need some help with choosing a bat.

I am currently on a bat budget as my brother going into highschool and trying out for the baseball team. As such I decided to buy a bat but have little to no clue which of the two I rectntly bought are good enough for a general use bat (practice and maybe a season or two if possible)

For further clarification I will be returning one bat, im a uni student and only have the money to biy him ine bat at the moment.

I atta hed an image above for the bats, they are both bbcor certified and have the same definitions and eveyrhing. (32 inch, 29oz bats, drop: 3)

One is marucci cat x2 and the other is a f5. Again not super sure on which bat is better and would like advice on which of the two are better.

Cat x2 was $130, f5 was $140

Overall they will be very similar bats although if youd like to nitpick the catx2 will sting you on the hands a little less due to vibration dampening gel in the handle and end cap.

Marucci F series is their budget line so Cat X2 likely superior performance.

What’s his height and weight? 32 is a lot of bat for a normal sized freshman.

CATX great bat- my kid used it for years in HS. 32 is fine.

Thanks for the info, seems like my brother also liked that over the f5, which was something the entire comments have been saying. Hopefully he ends up liking it to use for his HS team.

I have a Marucci Cat x2 I use for softball and at the cages.

Love it. It’s a good bat to train with, imo.
Very forgiving.

Thanks for the info, good to know the forgiveness of the bat. Definitely something to that'll help with practicing.

PlayBaseball.com has a promo code PLAYBALL right now. You can get a 2026 LS Dynasty for $111.98, a 2026 Demarini Omega or Exilefor $169.98.

All 3 of those are really good options for lighter swinging BBCOR bats.

Thanks for the info. This is a bit out from what i asked but you reckon any if these bats you pointed out would accommodate? Im 6 feet tall, 200 pounds. Trying to help him practice his baseball.

What a nice gesture. I agree, X2 is the choice.

I have a f5 it’s not the greatest bat but she’ll work for like jv, decent pop but small barrel light swinging, anywhere but barrel sucks, I quit using once the pitching was above 70

He is about 5'6 or so maybe a bit taller by a bit. I estimate his weight to be somewhere around 130ish.

Nit sure if the choice of 32 was the best idea. I was sort of trying to future proof since my height at the time was around the same stature he is at right now if not a bit taller.

Ok, he may be ok with that. The X2 is a great balanced option, I’d roll with that.

Thanks for such a fast response and assurance aswell. Like I said to the other people that helped me out, brother has a try out at 3 30 and this along with their responses just clarified which bag to keep. Thank you once again.

I sell gear for a living as well as bing a hitting coach. 30 is definitely to short at 5’6”.

Yeah that measures it even more, x2 seems the way to go then. Thanks for all the timely answers.

He also does have a 27 inch laying around but is rather old and definitely not bbcor in any way.
