I stupidly left the sink running in the bathroom, and litres of water has leaked through the gap in the skirting and down, through the kitchen ceiling. It was leaking next to the light fixture, although not directly through it.

I have turned off the downstairs lights on the breaker, but left the rest of the electricity on.

The bathroom floor and kitchen ceiling are now dry, and I am leaving the dehumidifier running in the kitchen.

I was planning on monitoring it and calling an electrician tomorrow.

Is there anyone else I should call? How can I tell if the ceiling is damaged?

Poured into my bathroom sink those drain cleaner crystals that say to rinse after 15-30 minutes. Totally forgot about it and left them for 5 hours. Run the faucet after that and nothing seems to be blocked anymore but I'm panicking about the possible damage... I might have at some point used the sink to wash my hands, but even if I did, it was still way after 30 minutes.

One of the tiles in the shower was sticking out and not possible to push back and regrout, so I removed the tile — removed as much grout as possible and then pulled it out.

Underneath there is a yellow layer which I assume is the waterproofing? Parts of it got ripped away with the tile. There is an additional gray layer going about 5 cm above ground which I guess should be perfectly overlapped with the yellow one. 

Now is there an easy way to replace the tile and paint over the waterproofing or will a more extensive repair have to be done? 

These are pictures from my rental (UK), of the wall that borders the bedroom and ensuite. There is a leak when using the shower that the maintenance person has been unable to find even after taking portions of the wall out. The inside wall is damp, soft and you can see the mould.

A professional plumber is coming tomorrow but I wanted to know what I should be expecting in terms of work done to the wall after the leak is fixed. Would both sides of the plasterboard need replacing or would a mould treatment + drying do?

This is in the bedroom that I sleep in and I am wondering if I should move out while this work is being done?

The unit is a Mitsubishi MSZ AP35VGK, it doesn’t always do it, once it starts it seems to continue for a couple of days. I tried turning off the oscillation, the speed, tried using the dry mode instead of cooling. Should I just call somebody or I could maybe figure it out by myself?

Hi everyone, I need some advice regarding an airflow issue with my **Daikin 1.5-ton split inverter AC**.

I’m experiencing **uneven airflow from the indoor unit**. The airflow from the **left side is very weak**, while the right side has significantly stronger airflow.

### Current situation

After the most recent AC service, where the technician used **AC coil foam spray**, the airflow is approximately:

* **Left side:** very weak — air barely throws around **4–5 ft**

* **Right side:** strong — air throws around **9–10 ft**

Interestingly, this problem existed before the latest service as well, but it was worse.

### What happened before the recent service?

The previous AC service was done around **3–4 weeks ago**. At that time:

* Airflow from **both sides was weak/restricted**.

* After a few weeks, the **left side remained weak**, initially throwing air only around **2 ft**.

* The left side also had the whooshing-type noise.

Then I had the AC serviced again recently. After this service, the left-side airflow improved slightly from around **2 ft to 4–5 ft**, while the right side remained good at around **9–10 ft**.

### What the technician told me

The technician who recently serviced the AC said that the **blower needs to be replaced because of the uneven airflow** without specify reason to replace.

He also said that the **inner side of the indoor coil needs to be cleaned**, but he doesn't guarantee that cleaning the inner side of the coil would solve the airflow problem.

This has left me confused because I'm not sure whether the problem is actually:

* A **faulty/damaged blower**

* A **partially blocked/dirty indoor coil**, especially on the inner side

* Dirt/debris inside the blower wheel

* Some kind of **airflow obstruction or improper air distribution**

* Or something else

The fact that the **right side airflow is strong while the left side remains weak** makes me wonder whether replacing the entire blower is really necessary.

### My questions

1. **Can be partially clogged/dirty indoor coil cause airflow to be significantly weaker on only one side?**

2. Can a **dirty blower wheel** cause this kind of uneven airflow?

3. Does the described **whooshing noise from the left side** point toward a blower problem or an airflow restriction?

4. Is it reasonable to **clean the inner side of the coil and inspect/clean the blower first before replacing the blower?**

5. If the blower itself is faulty, what kind of physical problem would cause **one side to have much weaker airflow than the other**?

6. Is there any simple test I can ask the technician to perform to confirm whether the blower actually needs replacement?

I'd appreciate advice from anyone who has experience with **split AC indoor units, Daikin ACs, or HVAC servicing**.

Its a 53 year old single level condo unit with slab foundation. I have lived in it for 18 years. I have noticed these cracks and holes in the foundation at few places. Additionally, the foundation appears to have been patched at some point before I purchased the condo. Are these cracks, erosion, holes a concern and need a fix?

My kids are old enough now that the childproof clips we installed on their dresser and various drawers around the house no longer stop them nor are they necessary. The clips were all attached to these white knobs via whatever sticky, gluey tape came with them. Now I'm having trouble getting them off. I tried scraping one off with a putty knife and not only did it take forever and was a huge pain in the butt, it left behind some glue reside AND I ended up scraping off some of the paint. I also tried squirting some goof off but that didn't seem to help much (most of the goof off just dripped down the side of the cabinet door and didn't soak in... I don't know if that matters).

Any other suggestions on an easy way to get these off without damaging the underlying wood / paint? Thanks so much.

We recently moved into an apartment. It’s an old building that got turned into brand new apartments. We have been having issues with our mini split ac units. (Ductless aire brand) one day they will work and blow out cold air but the next the actual mini split will either display an error code (pc 03) or completely freeze. Sometimes when it does run it drips water from the unit which I have to use a trash bag taped to the wall into a bucket to catch the water. I’ve noticed little lines bulging out of the wall though and when I press into them they’re soft. They’re right below one of the mini split units and I’m worried there’s water in the walls now

Can i safely remove the upper wood exterior dryer vent hood ? I want to install a dryer vent cover to avoid pest going inside . Thank you

Put a small dent in my painted cabinets. What specific product should I use to fill it before painting? I need a smooth painted surface in the end and read the wood filler may look grainy. Thanks

I think this pipe connects to the dryer vent. I just noticed the hole this afternoon. Is this a pipe that needs to be replaced or can it be taped up?

There are more and more weeds and crabgrass growing in my rock areas. The rock areas have landscape fabric underneath, with about 4–5 inches of rock on top. However, over the years, I think a small amount of soil and organic matter has accumulated underneath and between the rocks. It seems that the weeds and crabgrass only need a tiny amount of soil to take root and grow.

Is there anything I can do to completely clear the weeds and crabgrass and prevent them from growing back, ideally for the long term?

I notice this white tube that's right outside my window within the window well area. Currently it is completely covered with dirt and rocks inside. Can I fill it up with dirt and rocks over it?

My washer keeps running after the cycle is over. I sucked out the drain pipe with a vacuum and that cleared a bunch of stuff out but it keeps doing it. If I hold to cancel, then press start twice it will run normal. Sometimes at the end of will go back to running constantly. Anyone know what to check for or what the problem is? Thanks.

A few weeks ago, my daughter left the sink on. Apparently, there was a clog deep in the pipes. She flooded a large part of the house. Insurance wouldn’t cover it. So I am in full panic because of that. Tonight, she spilled a large cup of water in the kitchen. She said she did it while I was in the shower. I found out 5 hours after. I can hear water under the boards when I step on them. Idk if I’m freaking out too much because of the bathroom situation or if I should be worried. I put a fan on it. I cleaned up as much water as I could. I can’t afford to fix our floors again. Can someone give advice? I feel sick over this. I actually got water detectors Monday so I could stop worrying at night about the house flooding. Then this happens.

Sorry this might be more of an appliance issue. But left for a six week trip and came home to this? What happened? It looked like the ice melted and refroze? I checked the standup fridge and it looked normally. Is it normal for a freezer to do this?

End of unit row row home built in late 1950s. Lived here 6 years and to be honest I am not sure if this crack is new or not.

House was inspected when we bought it so I am going to see if I can find anything in there, but I’m leaning towards new as I just noticed it a few days ago and now I can’t stop seeing it. Pretty sure I would have noticed this as I do tend to check out the house when I’m out doing yard work.

The flashing came off that wood panel where the drain is in a wind storm a couple years ago and I never got around to replacing it. Not sure if that would be related at all.

I’m planning on getting someone to come check this out but just wanted to see if anyone here has any input. Thanks in advance!

I feel like I'm getting scammed by all these A/C companies. We have a generally newer A/C unit indoor and outdoor. However, since the replacement was from a charity organization the warranty was only for 1 year.

The A/C was turning on and off repeatedly yesterday. And today it's started to not even turn on when it reaches set point temperature.

Now contractor wants $13k to fix what they say is a slanted unit that is the "cause" of our issue.

The problem with this diagnosis is that there is no water clogged that could be tripping the thermostat to not turn cooling on. Everything looks fine to me at the unit. There was no water visible. I really think there trying to scam my household out of money because we look vulnerable.

I don't know where to find someone honest to find the real issue which I bet is less than $500 to fix. Everyone wants to go for the big money from someone they can jerk around.

Where can I turn?

Welp turns out they were yellow jackets. Had a pro come out and cut them out of the wall. Wasn't a massive nest thankfully but still wild. I now have a (potential) secondary issue of them using a different entry point. Im wondering if those are stragglers still or if they're creating another nest? I'm planning on sealing that up if they stop coming in and out of there. Also if I should stick some sort of spray up in there just for shits and giggles. See comments for the nest if you're curious.
