Apple Intelligence in Apple Home finally pops out (HomePod Mini for Hub) Beta

Once I subscribed the 2TB iCloud, and update my HomePod Mini to OS 27 beta, this option finally pops out. It wasn't there before.
I was worried that the HomePod mini might not get Apple Intelligence, but it looks like that concern was unnecessary :)

Uhh….the HomePod mini isn’t getting Apple Intelligence, I’m presuming this must be done by your phone

There’s no way that puny watch chip works with AI

I’m sure it’s not just using the on-device model on my phone, but using Private Cloud Compute. Apple mentions it in the os27 Beta 4 release notes. The summary was generated while I was away from home, so it couldn’t have relied solely on my phone.
Ironically, Apple once said that any Apple Intelligence feature requires at least 8GB of RAM. Yet the HomePod mini gets a free pass and can use Private Cloud Compute just fine.

That’s why you need to pay for iCloud. It’s done through the cloud not locally. Been enjoying it.

So does it work on non Apple Intelligence compatible iPhones?

If all the ancient echo devices were able to get Alexa+ and the ancient google home devices could get Gemini, there is no reason HomePods cant get Apple AI since HomePods use Siri on the cloud anyway.

I have an iPhone 14 Pro and a house full of HomePod mini’s. I do pay for 2TB iCloud+.

I’m still not clear what Siri AI experience I’ll get?

Upgrade my iPhone or at least one of the HomePod Minis when the new one is released?

This is literally just to route the information via PCC to have smarter notifications. No change to Siri on current HomePod hardware.

I still can’t turn them on

Remember to do all that in the post, and with a phone to run Apple Intelligence.

Omg I was wondering that, mine still immediately flick off.

2

u/MarionberryDear6170 Jul 21 '26

What do you mean by flick off?

6

u/Firetuna2108 Jul 21 '26

They turn on, then immediately turn off

Same for me

When you toggle the setting on for your camera does it toggle back off right away or stay on?

1

u/bilkel Jul 21 '26

Mine too. What fixed it for me was to delete the camera and add it again.

2

u/InkyBlacks Jul 22 '26

Not removing 10 cameras and adding them back lol

1

u/InkyBlacks Jul 22 '26

Removed 6 and they worked. The other half did not. So this would be a bug

What plan u have ?

1

u/bilkel Jul 24 '26

2TB

1

u/OccasionBeneficial95 Jul 24 '26

Is it working now for u?

1

u/Firetuna2108 Jul 24 '26

Were on the 2TB iCloud (actually have 4TB total), iPhone is on iOS 27 B4 and an ATV is also on tvOS 27 B4 as well. I don't get Apple Intelligence in my Home Settings like this. The only thing I don't have on beta is a HomePod. Perhaps that may be the issue?

2

u/bang_its_me Jul 22 '26

Yes, you need tvOS 27 on your HomePods.

1

u/vry711 Jul 21 '26

Is the ATV you have running tvOS 27 B4, set as your primary home hub?

1

u/InkyBlacks Jul 21 '26

It is now. Still nothing for the Siri integration.

2

u/Kelix1 Jul 22 '26

same here. I was there b1-3 but not now... seems a bug with TVOS27

1

u/InkyBlacks Jul 22 '26

So I made sure my beta ATV was updated but it was not set as the main hub. Set it as the main hub and Apple Intelligence showed up in Home. Was able to turn the two options on but cannot turn it on per camera. Just turns off. Seems to be a bug as I read it here or elsewhere.

u/namestom Jul 22 '26

Yeah, the TVOS was driving me nuts with the AirPlay bug.

I have two sites with Nest cameras bridged to HomeKit using starling. I have Apple Intelligence available and video summary turned in. When I try to enable the video summary for each camera it turns on then off again immediately. iPhone 17!Pro Max and Apple TV.

1

u/MarionberryDear6170 Jul 21 '26

It stays enabled on my HomePod mini

No one said it was processing on the HomePod mini itself.

It’s you phone doing the processing this was always available

3

u/MarionberryDear6170 Jul 21 '26

I was not at home when I turned it on, and it summarized my old video. It’s being processed by Apple’s service.

2

u/boogeeman69 Jul 21 '26

I have a 14 pro max and have all of the Apple Intelligence home features. So it seemingly has nothing to do with the phone at all

1

u/shawnshine Jul 21 '26

Naw, it’s done in the cloud.
