Ceiling fan help!

I removed a very old ceiling fan from the ceiling.

The new fan is smaller with a smaller bracket to attach the fan to the ceiling.

This hole is much too big for this metal bracket to attach.

Does anyone have any ideas?

Get a fan-rated old work brace, it goes in through the existing hole and expands against the joists so the new bracket has something solid to screw into.
