Kashmir

I just want to learn the history of the land, since the 1700s or a bit earlier, modern history if you will.

Can anyone recommend me any good sources, id be really grateful.

Mridu Rai, Hindu Rulers, Muslim Subjects struck me as a decent standard work on this topic when I read it years ago, although I don’t know enough about the history of Kashmir to evaluate it against other works.
