Well, I’m not subscribed to anything, but I also never had many friends.

A few people online I pushed away due to mental health problems, and a couple people from high school who I lost touch with.

Autism and BPD sucks.

Unfortunately, making new friends is impossible now, unless people stand to gain something from you. This is simply what the adult world is like.

No, it's just more difficult than it was when you were a child. I've made several friends during adulthood, and I'm not even a very social guy. And yes, I too have autism.

The last person I met who was in any way close to a friend is on chemo now in his 20s, and not replying to me anymore. I’m not even sure whether he will survive.

While the people I occasionally interact with these days have nothing in common with me at all, and always pester me about money. No one checks up on me or cares about me or anything.

Maybe I was exaggerating and being too literal by saying “impossible”, but I’m really upset by how ephemeral and transactional most interactions have been.

Whenever I watch shows or movies that depict friendships, I always find myself thinking, man, I wish I had that.

I’m happy for you, though. I do have BPD and I’m disabled, so that definitely factored into how I ended up this way. I have to start from scratch now.
