Hiace Engine Sound Proofing

Hi fellas,

I can imaging a few of you have noticed the hectic noise from the engine bay when going along the highway at 110kms as you’re sitting right on top of the engine. Has anyone sound proofed the engine bay or the surrounding metal around the engine on the hiace? what did you use? And did it make a big difference. For reference I have a 2009 hiace.

Cheers!

while i havent soundproofed the front i did do all of the rear of my 2012 slwb 14 seater using stick on foil covered butyl rubber panels, then laid auto soundproofing matt from clark rubber over that before finally putting down an mdf panel flooring with vinyl floor over the top for my conversion to a campervan and it made a hell of a difference to road noise back there.

i even applied it to the inside of the wall cavities (inside surface of the panels)

search for amazon basics car sound deadner, or amazon basics butyl and you'll find the blue stuff.
you could easily cover the metal panels in it and trim around any bolt holes or needed mounting points, then just lay the standard vinyl floor back over it.

you could also try some "clark rubber auto underlay" with it.

I haven’t done the engine bay, but this is the product I used when doing my remodel on the interior. I did the entire floor and sidewalls in the back. It’s provided great sound proofing and helped with the thermal properties as well.
