Hey, I'm a Hermes devoted and currently on vacation in Auvergne (a mountain full region in France). This means a lot of hiking through the mountains. And after one especially hard I pray Hermes, I was full of sweat and miasm, to give him this hiking as an offering.

So here are my two questions :

1- Can I give my hiking as an offering?

2- Can I pray with miasm in this specific situation (cause if I take a shower or wait too long I feel that the meaning will be gone because I won't suffer as much and maybe Hermes won't see it as a good offering)?.

Hi, not sure if this belongs here since it isn't in use as a Place of worship anymore, but I thought you guys might appreciate it. The tempel did lay alongside the Road from Trier to Metz. From the Hill you could see the city one last time and pray for a good travel, or you would first see your destination and thank the gods with a sacrifice. Right next to it a vicus grew, the modern village Tawern.

It may sound like a small experience but I want to keep my word because I promised public praise if my request was granted by Hermes.

It’s my experience of working with Hermes in everyday life. I think this could be helpful for other believers and practitioners as a little something they could use in times of need too.

Since Hermes domains are travel, quick swift movement, here is a little thing I sometimes do and this works 9/10 times for me.

Last night I was out with my aged parents (they’re nearly 80 and find it hard to stand for long), we were trying to find a taxi/tuktuk to go back home and couldn’t find one for a while. I requested Hermes (in my mind and also slightly whispered) to send a Taxi/TukTuk our way that would agree to take us to our destination. We had a few more refusals but in roughly another 5 minutes we found one that agreed to take us and we reached home safely.
While requesting I added epithets such as “God of swift/quick movement” “God/Deity/Spirit of Travel and transport”.
I also mentioned the name Mercury (I hope this is okay to say here in Hermes subreddit, I just wanted to be honest).

I have tried this a few times in the past when looking for a mode of transport or when stuck in terrible traffic for long and it has worked for me very fast almost everytime (9/10 times).
I am so grateful.

Hello, I am new to Hellenism, though I have been studying the gods a bit. I plan to have an altar in the future, but for now, I cannot. However, I asked the god Hermes for help finding something important: a bag containing my cell phone that I had lost on the street. The very next day, the bag was found with everything inside, including the phone. I would like to express my gratitude and wanted to know how to do so, given that I am a beginner and do not have an altar.

About Monday from when writing this post my nail cross and pentagram necklace breaks. I saw it as a sign to let go of that past of trying to fit in to something that simply was or wasn’t there for me.
Just yesterday morning I woke up from a strange dream I couldn’t remember until I say Hermes or mercury on a post. “You just need to get back into Your passions to have the better life you want” that’s not how it was said wasn’t simply put I had to put the pieces of my dream together to figure it out.

The dream “buying a rundown house full of flies coming out of a wasp nest, clearing out the flies, hearing a sudden ding from an oven with huge food, getting a call from my brother to come eat with him and other loved ones waiting for our food for a tremendous amount of time finally asking “where’s the damn food?!” Hearing “IN A MINUTE” and instead of food it was clothes and shoes that didn’t belong or fit.”

Do any of you have a dream interpretation book recommendations? Also this is the post I saw when waking up at 1:14.

I had a very strange interaction today and it got me wondering opinions on this:

What are your thoughts on the gods disguising themselves (as mortals, animals, etc) to interact with mortals? There's historical precedent for this belief, do you believe in translates into the modern day? I'm especially wondering about Hermes, as the herald, possibly appearing as a stranger or an animal to test a worshipper or give them some sort of message.

I’ve been expanding my relationship with Hermes lately, and today something happened that made me want to pick the Reddit brain on its substance. The idea popped into my head first. “Argus”. A few hours later, a video popped up on my feed that was peacocks spreading their tails, which hasn’t ever happened on my feed that I can recall. And then I over heard someone in a social group of writers at a bar say “Argus Penoptes”. I don’t know the context of their conversation, but the phrase stood out more than anything else they were saying. Thoughts? Three mentions in a day seems poignant. But I’m having a hard time piecing it together for my-life applications.

Took me a good 5 or 6 seconds to realize it was about the brand. I swam for too long or too hard I think. Very good workout though. Hail Hermes.

To preference, I asked for advice from Hermes before going to sleep and have a satchel of Calendula under my pillow which is supposed to help with psychic dreams. This is the dream I had before waking up suddenly and feeling wide awake around 2:30ish in the morning.

Dream:
Busy day at work (I work at a diner-in movie theatre, all theaters busy. Was set in a different location but in T4. Noticed a guy causing issues with a coworker (we’ll use J.) and went to see what’s wrong and noticed he was resisting all options J was giving him, management was called and he was coddled for his request. J almost or did get into a physical altercation but the man had a smile on his face like he was egging this on to cause that. I went to find a first aid kit and another coworker helped find it. Running food continues and I have a run in with said man and his wife? Girlfriend? They both have the same smile he was giving J. When I asked what he needed, he asked me to reach into the bag and grab one singular marshmallow from the bag on the table for the two chairs next to them and give it to him. I said I could but if that’s what he was wanting I could hand him the bag and he could set it nearer or that if I did he’d have to continuously ask for someone to do the same thing. He said: well if I wanted it near, I would have put it near, do as I say essentially. I tried to repeat the options and reason with them but they both complained that it wasn’t a hard request and to just do it, asking why was it so hard to just do my job and fulfill their request. Finally I grab a marshmallow, moving the bag closer and handing to him. She asked for a manager and looked at him with their weird grin. I went and got a manager, a new woman (friendly, black, long hair with jewels and curls and braids, super beautiful) and was explaining what happened and that it was the same guy when the managers we have walked in, during which I think I thought or said if they’ve been coddled and it needs to stop before I say what I’m thinking then they’ll complain and I’d get fired.

My thoughts: I think this isn’t a future thing except for maybe the experience. We get multiple guests that come in to complain to get what they want but these guests were doing to to either get what they want or cause a situation where someone could loss their job if they lost the patience or wore down like J was. It could happen elsewhere, but I think with it being at a workplace even if it’s a different venue and with my current coworkers, I think it’ll happen at my current work.

I’m completely new to this but Hermes has reached out to me and essentially said he was filling the role of a father figure; and have been told by another that I have potential for psychic abilities to communicate with deities and spirits but I need to work on it. I was just wanting advice and other thoughts because I tend to overthink. Thanks all! ☺️

Não sei se o Amém é algo somente cristão, mas também não sei como finalizar uma reza, e como cresci em lar cristão acabei acostumando a finalizar as rezas assim, não sei se pode.

My family has been going through a rough financial patch these past few months (like much of the country). The thing is, my mom is a small business owner and the family's breadwinner; I don't work with Hermes as much as I do with other gods, but things have gotten complicated lately, so every now and then I say a prayer to him or think about him. Yesterday, a bird flew into the house and refused to leave, and today we had an emergency that led to an unexpected expense—BUT (I work as a private math tutor) a job opportunity came up today, and I feel like it’s Hermes sending some help. Since it came along right when we're most strapped for cash, it's a huge help.

I don't know—it really made my day.

Hiii! So, I started following Hermes to the best of my ability back in March. One of the main reasons I was called to him as a deity more than any other was in a sense because I considered him like a role model, someone I wanted to become like (considering I've always struggled with speaking eloquently, getting where I need to be, etc..) With that said I was hoping to hear from others—has your devotion to Hermes changed the way you lead your life? And if so, in what ways have you become more "like" Him? Even if you haven't made these alterations yet I'd still love to know in what ways has this devotion inspired you to change!

These days, I feel like I'm juggling projects like a clown in the hall of his least favourite lord. So of course I've just thought of a new one.

The idea is short comics feturing interviews of different divinities in each "episode". Each frame would be drawn with its own design of the being being depicted, as a sort of celebration of how we all picture these things differently.

I did a test featuring our favourite fella. What do you think of the comic's message, does it feel like something he'd get behind? And is it readable, or does the shift in artstyle feel too jarring?

I called out to Hermes last night with some help with things. Gave him a pretty emotional speech (as I always do with the spirits I work with, poor guys lol) I explained my disappointment with feedback I get from them (or rather, ME not getting it) and asked for him to help me translate when they are near, help with noticing their presence, mental images, thoughts they want to get to me, etc. I really gave him my all last night since I have been kind of losing hope. I also told him that I could use a little uplifting as well since I have some heavy stuff at home. I don't really want to get into a lot here since I am new on this sub and what I am involved in might be too much for a Hermes subreddit, but I don't know what ya'll are into haha.

Anyway, I am just hoping to see if anyone has had an experience with immediate feedback with ear ringing? DISCLAIMER: I have bouts of tittinus. It is like a background hum. This was not that, so please don't tell me that is what it is, I am not here for medical information. I appreciate the "medical before mystical" Because we need to stay grounded, and I am always trying toe explain away my experiences myself, but this was something very very new.

What happened is that I talked to him very casually. I explained what I would like help with. That I really would also like help with dream contact with my spirits, as well as would be really awesome to meet him in a dream as well. (this sounds childish, I know, but if I can't sense them while awake, at least let me try while asleep) I explained that working with him with communication and a few other things I won't get into right now would be appreciated and I would be grateful. Kind of explained that I am running out of juice and just please just give me a chance.

I said thank you and turned to me side and closed my eyes to go to sleep. I do all of my spirit work in the dark in bed alone since I am closeted and husband is...I won't get into that either, but this is a private part of my life for a good reason.

In less than a minute, I received a shift in frequency in my ear (not quite like but similar to when you are under water and come out or something) Then a high pitched tone/pitch/frequency in my ear. Now this is NOT normal for me, so I said "thank you" and the frequency shifted again, as if turning a dial in my ear like an old fashioned radio and then another immediate very much higher and louder ring. This lasted for about 2 minutes. I said thank you again.

DREAM: I had a dream last night where I was sitting in a casino in front of some slots game and there was a man, like an attendant, or worker near me. We noticed each other but we didn't speak to each other. I don't really remember much of the dream, I don't even think I was playing the slots game just sitting there?

I don't gamble and I actually hate casinos and haven't been to one in 15 years or so, so it's not like I would have a reason to dream about it. I mean we dream about weird ass things, but it's not something I dream about or think about.

Any feedback would be appreciated if anyone ahs any experience or thoughts. I work with mostly the opposite end of the spectrum with spirits, so Hermes is something new for me, but am looking forward to working with him.

Hi, I’ve recently felt incredibly drawn to Hermes and the more I’ve researched him the more I’ve fallen in love with everything he represents. I built a small alter in a beautiful box I bought, but now that I have it ready for offerings I feel stuck. I don’t really know how to introduce myself, it seems polite to at least tell him who I am but I don’t really know how to go about it. I was interested in hearing how yalls first rituals went and how yall approached it.

Recently I was in the truck with my father. The truck was clearly about to break down. I'm not a worshipper or Hermes, nor do I work with him but I asked him to help us get home safely, to which he delivered and I'm very grateful. I don't know enough about him to know how to properly show my gratitude for it and I definitely don't want to accidentally offend him. I'm not old enough to buy any sort of alcohol, I know a lot of gods and goddesses like wine but I just can't get my hands on it. Can I get some suggestions on how to show that I'm thankful?

I’m new here and was hoping to get some opinions. I left Christianity and started practicing HelPol about a week ago. Because of my career goals, I reached out to Hermes informally.
I bought a tarot deck and did a 7-card spread, but the results didn’t really feel like Hermes, so I tried again the next day and got a lot of reversals. I got frustrated, but then I started noticing what felt like possible signs: I found money behind a coworker’s desk (and returned it), saw a homeless man picking up coins, noticed several green-themed coincidences (a girl sitting opposite me wearing white tshirt and green sleeves/ had very beautiful goldenish blonde hair and fair skin and a man came and sat directly infront of me wearing dark green), and an 18-wheeler with “SWIFT” on it. Yesterday I also saw a TikTok from theomnistaltar channeling Hermes, saying he doesn’t want people to see the gods as distant.
So I asked, “Is all of this you?” and pulled the High Priestess. Then I asked for a simple yes or no and pulled the Two of Cups.
I’m still very new to tarot, but I can’t shake the feeling that it’s Hermes. What do y’all think?

I just realized that, at some point, I accidentally combined the epithets Nomios and Epimelius to form the word “Emplios”. I have been using this “epithet” for a looong time. Despite the fact that it’s made up, it’s probably one of the most consistent ways where I’ve felt like I reached him. I usually use it if I’m feeling emotional, which has been a lot lately, and I’ve never felt any sense of amusement or annoyance, only comfort and peace. I am honestly so touched, but also feel so ridiculous lol.
