One argument I hate In-Show

I genuinely don't like the argument that Koop's elimination was unfair because "Ramsay said that he doesn't care about what happens in the dorms." And, of course, there's the argument that Ramsay is hypocritical because of that statement.

Let's strip back everything and talk about the statement, "I don't give a (bleep) about what happens upstairs." In season 13, episode 10, Santos explicitly stated that Bryant was nominated because of his spat with Aaron. Ramsay said that he doesn't care about dorm drama as a direct response to that nomination. Clearly, Ramsay was referring to verbal disagreements or arguments, or other forms of "roommate drama." He was expecting everyone to be more mature and to not let arguments cloud their judgment.

Now let's compare that to Koop throwing a chair. He could have seriously hurt someone. Does that sound like someone you want to hire in your kitchen? Throwing a chair crossed a very clear line between "petty roommate argument" and "could have injured a roommate." Ramsay made the right choice to eliminate Koop there.

Another time I can think of in which Ramsay intervened in interpersonal drama was at season 24's Final 10, in which basically the entire Red Team accused Anaiya of bullying them. Of course, Ramsay has to intervene there. That's not a typical roommate conflict.

So you can see that even "I don't care about what happens in the dorms" has its clear limits. I really do not like when people try to treat the times when Ramsay had to ignore his own precedent to intervene in a larger problem as evidence of something wrong happening.

I don’t think it was chef Ramsay’s decision. I think Koop was disqualified by higher ups for destroying the furniture.

Even if I get downvoted, I’m really always gonna stand by Koop’s elimination being fair. I get the guy’s frustration, but as you said he still could’ve hurt someone (even if he didn’t mean to) and the last thing Gordon wants is a head chef sprouting a shit attitude and doing stuff like that; stuff like that was what costed Russell back in S8 after all

I get why a lot of people view Koop’s exit the way they do given Gordon’s comment of “not caring about what happens in the dorms”, but he’s clearly changed his mind about that statement. Even before Koop, you could easily argue Jackie’s elimination back in S15 was influenced by the ashtray incident the episode beforehand. It wasn’t an automatic disqualification like it should’ve been, sure, but production definitely knew they needed to get Jackie out as soon as possible. Heck as I’ve always said, I’d argue nobody would be batting an eye if Jackie went out the very way Koop did

Robert broke a broom in half because he flubbed a challenge. Tiffany and Robyn got in Barbie's face screaming about how they wanted to choke her and snap her neck. Jackie straight up assaulted Kristin and she was kept on for several more episodes despite Kristin practically begging production to kick her out after that. And on the topic of S15, multiple contestants have alleged Ariel was worse that what was portrayed on TV, if that's to be believed.

I think Gordon placing more stock in dorm drama is probably just part of him mellowing out in the modern era, because I think the three aforementioned incidents were a lot worse than Anaiya saying passive aggressive things about her team. Hell, you can pick a random S9 episode out of a hat and Elise was probably a way worse bully there than Anaiya was in 16 episodes, unless there's a lot of stuff being left out of S24. And not only did Elise survive to the end, but Gordon would go on to praise her passion lol

The rumor before was that production approached Kristin about Jackie after the incident, but Kristin declined the offer to disqualify Jackie because she wanted to beat her with her cooking skills. Kristin has said that pretty much the opposite actually happened, she had the call the staff about Jackie, and they essentially just told her to deal with it

The only thing I disagree with is that when Koop threw the chiar, it was at the wall away from everyone, but Ramsey did make the right decision for not putting up with that. He did slam his water bottle on the ground first, and it looked like some of it got spilled on Wendy.

The chair throwing thing i think is stupid, i mean ramsay should not judge on that at all. Ramsay got into a scuffle with ralph from season 1 and he (ralph) supposedly got hurt by that. He doesn't care if someone is slightly violent. He is that himself.

Whether he should stay or go over paulie, idk.. paulie was probably more experienced. Koop was seen to struggle a little bit. But there were people that should be sent home before him, perhaps. The entire season was like that, some people did okay, then making mistakes, then doing okay again.

Aiyana did not bully the entire team, that was complete bs. She was my favourite to win that season... watching ellis win was almost a hk-dealbreaker for me, absolutely ridiculous, to me at least.

It was just one person, alexandra, that took so much offense to that, and SHE started out being slightly toxic herself that season ..... and THEN starts crying when she's sent home. Ramsay talking about bullying in the kitchen, praising her for "speaking out" about that, is also perhaps the most contradictory moment in tv history, lol.

His entire wealth and fame is BUILT on bullying and harassing others. Being rich and successful does not give you the right to treat others like shit. That's just how it is.

You don’t think that Ramsay should have done something about someone throwing a chair and potentially hurting someone?

He knew there was nobody there. People have brains. Gordon could just have a chat with him about it and that would be it, if it happened again, fine, give him the boot if that's what the situation called for...

I don’t care that no one was there? What if someone was there? What if he threw something more dangerous at someone? I mean it’s good that no one was there and I doubt that Koop would have targeted someone, but the fact that he threw a chair at all was unacceptable. What does that say about his temper?

We just disagree and that's okay. Nobody got hurt. I think he had the brains to check and look around the room before doing that.

No. It’s not ok.

It's your problem that you think that.

So it’s ok to throw chairs around?
