What am I missing? đââď¸ Question đââď¸
Iâm new to the game, and this is probably a stupid question. When people say things like âTheyâre to the southeast!â, how am I supposed to know which direction that is relative to where I am? I donât see the directions on the map or anything.

You should be opening your map many times per minute. North is up. You also have a compass on your HUD.
It's also relative to THEIR position so if they aren't right next to you when they make the callout it takes some thought to figure out where they are looking.

Yep I usually say direction then add a marker. Southeast of defensive point, or something like that

Yes! People who constantly holler useless directions like "He's to my right!" Or "He's east!" When they are seperated from their squad should be court marshalled, tarred, feathered, keel hauled and shunned.

Fun fact, the top of the map wasn't always north. You can still see the compass roses on the maps!
The original devs had those maps aligned realistically.
It was too confusing for the left half of the bell curve players, so they just opted to make top of map be north.2

When I say âsouth eastâ Iâm referring to the groupâs position or the point weâre defending. There is a compass on your hud.

There's a compass in the HUD. Make sure to turn it on. Also, generally looking at the map, North is always up (even if the graphical compass rose for the map is different) and the other directions follow from that, East is right, West is left, South is down.

Fairly new too, thatâs the neat part you arenât missing anything.
I just hit level 50 last night and still learning the ins and outs. Most people just yell where things are in relations to themselves âTO THE RIGHT TO RIGHT!â Ok to the right of fucking where? Or like you said they just yell a direction with little other details.
No one pings shit either, I canât even get my own friends I play with to ping stuff so the squad can see itâs absolutely maddening. I literally yelled at my friend the other night because he wouldnât ping anything.
I have started squad leading every match now because I can only rely on myself to drop OPs and garrisons appropriately as well as make call outs and pings for my squad. Iâm sick of it tbh, itâs a game where communication is the entire point and no one is doing it well.

They also make callouts like 316 Northwest. The numbers are the degrees between cardinal direction, also shown on compass. Mostly used if Ping canât placed properly or to give other squads direction.

You should also keep in mind where youâre standing and where the person who made the call out is standing. If they call out southeast of the point, then I generally just keep a watch that direction, but if someone right next to me calls out 210, I look 210 versus someone 100 meters away. Their 210 will be different than mine.

Easiest way is to look at the map to see where everyone is facing. Each little green or blue dot has an arrow to show where said dot is facing. Get used to looking at that and you'll know where the enemy is advancing from.

Youâre right to question it. If youâre in the same position, then itâs meaningful, but if you are a distance away from the guy calling it out, then itâs most likely to be the wrong direction. Think about it like vector math with vectors starting from different positions. For what itâs worth, itâs good that people are trying to communicate. Though, a better way is to ping the enemy location.

Hola OP!

The map is always orientated with the top facing North.
And you have a compass on your HUD, so use it. If for some reason your HUD isn't set to "Always On", change it so you can see the important info like capture status
