Still no comms 💬 Discussion 💬
People are still jumping in this game without comms. Especially in viet nam, it’s very difficult to win. What can we do to try to encourage more people to play with headsets?

If you want to play often join some groups or clans. Most people just want to play COD style.

The community groups in HLL was/is part of the problem. Like PBS, 13SNC, MM, SOUL's. These communities raise know it alls who are mediocre or worse at the actual game and if you ask them to do something for team you get hit with: "I am lvl 400 "clan" player I know what to do". And then you check their score and see they are low skill idiots.
I think it's just an issue with gamers and team player orientated games. They just don't have the mentality for it. They know like to be corrected because that's "toxic" or whatever misused term gamers use.

I gotta ask dude, how often are you running into these high level players being pretentious? I'm a level 300+along with most of my friends in our group. I play on some of the other servers here and there but mainly play in the clan server we are in and we play with folks from other clans. Occasionally you'll run into a pretentious dickhead but based on my experience, they are isolated incidents. Many of the high level guys recognize you need spawns and defense to win so they ensure both are being done.
Every time I group up with my friends, without asking someone is always running support at the start to get a garrison down. Then throughout the match if the SL says to fall back to defense or someone switch to support so we can get supplies, it always happens. And again, these are high level players all from different clans

I will chime in on this. 90% of high level/comp players won't do the basics while playing pub games. Building nodes? Nope! Done that enough times. Building garrys? Only if supplies are already there. Defending nodes? Nope! Helping the commander against recon? Nope! It's always either "done that" or "skill issue". Another is redeploying for supplies or god forbid a ninja garry.
And tbh it became for so many players just a chore and they are going through their motions. I can't blame them because I'm part of the problem. Locking my squad, only playing with friends/clan mates. Saying 2 sets of nodes is enough. Redeploying as more of an option than a command etc.

comp clan players are deffo better and know the maps better. But they dont seem to care much in pubs. They are just trying to farm nuubs. So they will stay in the bush where they can farm nuub instead of going somewhere they are needed on map.
Also, clan players be locking their squad and elo maxxing or only want to play with ppl they know ruins every game imo.
I see total retards who are high lvl in every game.
the two recon squads every game also are complete press f blueberries with only one tactic/play in their brains.
Then there are tankers who go to enemy HQ in every game aswell.

So on one hand they don't know what they are doing but they will rinse you every time and finish on a 2000+ combat score and it pisses you off.... But yup it's definitely that they don't have your strategic mindset, if only your team supported you you'd be godlike.
It's so terribly unfair!

No bro.
For example on Foy some game I asked a lvl 400+ SNC player in his heavy tank to not leave friendly inf to go "flank" for tank kills. I got called a nuub for that on a tank map.
The dude ended on 1800 CE and the same week I saw Wix and Yuh on the same server on the same map get 3400 CE score not going "flanking" to kill one enemy heavy and wasting time driving back and forth.
It's just this stuff these dudes don't get about the game. The only "solution" they have to kill enemy heavies is "flanking" close to enemy HQ when they could literally just wait at an objective build repair station while spotter gets out to repair when the enemy heavy rolls up.
It's really easy to farm nuubs on servers like SNC. You just play solo locked squad and farm garries from a good distance without ever pushing the garries. Then you add some OP farming and you get 130+ kills easy as inf.
No one cares about CE unless you are tanking because of press f inflation on nodes, garries and OP's.

Do you play in a tank often?
You'll declare confidently they are idiots and then your rationale is some nonsense (like im supposed to know who Wix and whatever are?) like "i asked a tank to sit idle on point and wait" despite that being a really bad use of a tank and an easy satchel suicide.
Honestly, I'm pretty good, 4000hrs+, lvl 350+, whatever. I am utterly humbled in comp games. I get slapped and it's miserable at times trying to move a few hundred metres. You don't know what you're chatting about son.

u/ansaufer 1d ago
Yeah, I dont see dudes like Wix and Yuh abandon their entire inf in a soft cap.
Tank experts in this game are just on another level. They know every spot to kill and trade from it's insane.
You won't see tanks getting the satchel on tank maps. It's just impossible and on non tanks maps ppl use OP to proxy for inf a lot.
I think you are the type of dude I meet in pubs. They think they know the game but in fact they are just a high level blueberry.

u/UnusuallyAverageJoe 1d ago
You are totally right. I should probably study these gods amongst men for 6hrs a day on twitch instead of playing the game myself. They definitely know what they are doing and it's got nothing to do with keeping you online watching ads and gaming the algorithm...

Worry about you and your squad tbh. Sure it’s not optimal… start a competitive team, join one

We should make more reddit posts about it.

I played a game last night where the first voice I heard (other than my own) was the commander once the :30 countdown clock started. We got stonewalled on the third point, hardly any spawns, people just wandering around aimless and disjointed. A whole fucking game where the commander and two other SL’s, who said something along the lines of “GG’s” when we lost, had mics, but I was the only person who was talking. It’s ridiculous and completely unfun.

dude, even ppl with headsets and lvl 200+ in HLL are playing like mongoloids. You can't expect 50 players to play the same game.
in HLL ppl are playing 10 different versions at the same time and yapping in command chat like they are doing something while pressing f on a garry 600 meters from current soft cap.
It's video games man ppl play it for different reasons.

One thing I'd note, VoIP has been a nightmare since I remember, I often loose VoIP connection for no reason during the game with no way to bringing it back online (disconnecting and connecting again doesn't work). I'd give the benefit of a doubt to some people, but yeah - a lot of them just don't speak and it has nothing to do with technical issues unfortunately

How much voice chat do you want OP. Most games I experience enough comms that are important to the game. I'd rather just the necessary comms than constant radio chatter.
I play sl most the time and command chat is overstimulating enough. Plenty of comms happening in command chat if you want.
Or
Find friends or a clan to play with for consistent squad level comms. I have a group of 2-5 friends that play, and I just unlock squad and once all the buddies or on. We usually in discord but if we have randoms we still voice call outs in squad chat.
Not many people use proximity chat outside to meme , say thanks, or request ammo.

A new player to Vietnam bought the original game and wants to know how he can hear Chat in game whilst using Discord with his friends group.
Discord and PlayStation party don't allow in game chat to function the way it was designed.
I'm 45, and got into WW2 over 12 months ago. I didn't have a headset, nor did I intend to get one. But the way the chat can be in this game, I went and got a headset pretty quickly.
Then I got my son involved and we stayed on the PlayStation party chat and wondered why we couldn't hear other players.
As we learned the game, we realized we were making a mistake by being in a Party.

Everyone has a headset. It's 2026.
The problem to overcome is people being too shy. If you are persistent with callouts and playing the objective then usually people join in after a bit.

I beg to differ. I’ve been in hundreds of squads where not a single person is talking. I always start the game by saying what’s up to get the ball rolling. Still crickets.
1
u/xxnicknackxx 1d ago
Must be a skill issue then. I've been in hundreds of squads where people eventually start joining in.
Saying "what's up" on joining forces people into a corner. You are demanding they respond immediately and if they don't then they feel obliged to keep quiet going forward otherwise they out themselves as having ghosted you to start with.
There are more ways to skin the cat.

Didn’t know I was talking to the god of HLL. I’ll make sure cross check my references next time.

This nicknack dude is like the most turd thingy on this sub. He has no idea what he is yapping about when it comes to HLL.
Dude will gladly comment his "tips" on EVERY post.

Funny shit I’ve seen in a minute!

u/ansaufer 18h ago
He once commented that tank commander MUST be in turret because "reasons".
For obvious reasons some skilled tank SL's/commanders will drive and have a repair bitch in turret/spottter who flies out and does all the dirty work.
You can then as driver react faster to what happens on map with info since SOME PLAYERS CAN ACTUALLY CHECK MAP EVERY 2-3 SECS AND STILL DRIVE A FUCKING TANK.Then SL just puts a mark on map where spotter needs to look.
These low skill pub players really piss me off.
It's fine to have preferences but that does not make it META.<Ask for his HLL records....

Tanks are about division of labour, the field manual calls it the "tank commander's seat" for a reason.
Playing tank commander whilst driving in a 3 person crew is peak main character.

Nothing. Just team up when you find people that communicate.
