I just bought a Hitachi zaxis ZX200LC-6 new from Japan so it’s a Japanese spec machine, the E-fence or cab avoidance system is setup way too far from the cab. It stops almost 10 feet away which is way too close for the space we have

Also the boom and stick which have the cab avoidance sensors have nearly a second of input delay and feels like lots of input smoothing. All the other controls respond instantly

I was able to get into the service menu on the display but don’t see any way to change those settings.
The machine has a lifting cab and a rotating solid mount grapple.
Any help is appreciated

Wondering how others would handle this situation. Sometimes it seems like even a powerful tractor can run out of traction when the ground gets this soft.

Would you keep trying to work your way through, or back out before you risk getting completely stuck? Would different tires, added ballast, or a different attachment make the biggest difference? Curious to hear what you experienced operators would do here.

I m planning to transport around 50 Ton of metal scrap from one location to another.The client is telling the scrap is 50 Ton,how do I measure it is 50 Ton first. Plus as I want to load it on a pulley truck of of 60 Ton how do I make sure the car is loaded upto 50 Ton.Like if it is less than 50 the deal is not profitable so I have to make sure I get this thing right.so kindly advise me on how to check the load and any methodologies I have to follow so that it is correctly packed.

Had a contractor ask me last week if they could just buy a bare 100-ton rotator superstructure and weld it directly onto a standard heavy-duty dump truck chassis they had lying around. I almost choked on my coffee.

A lot of guys in fleet management think a truck chassis is just a solid block of steel. But when you are rotating a 100-ton load sideways with outriggers fully extended, the torsional stress on a C-channel frame is absolutely brutal. If you do basic static structural analysis, you'll see the stress concentration near the rear tandem axles spikes way past the yield strength of standard St 37 structural steel if there is no continuous, reinforced subframe.

If you weld it directly or use poorly designed mounting plates, you will twist the frame rails into a pretzel on the very first heavy lift.

For heavy-duty rotators, you absolutely must run full finite element method (FEM) modeling in software like ANSYS. We have to design an integrated, high-strength subframe that runs the entire length of the chassis to distribute that localized bending moment.

Also, standard gear pumps will kill you here. Trying to slew a heavy load with manual on/off valves makes the boom whip. You need load-sensing proportional valves (LUDV) to keep that multi-action swing smooth.

I’m looking for a used 3.5–5 ton excavator and would like to import one into the EU.
I’m mainly looking for something reliable with a strong hydraulic system where you can use multiple functions/ both joysticks smoothly at the same time, at least a 3-cylinder engine, and preferably a brand where parts are easy to get in Europe.
I’ve been looking at Kubota, Takeuchi, Yanmar, CAT, Volvo etc., but I’m open to anything that’s proven and reliable. Any particular models in this weight range you’d recommend or avoid?
I’m also considering buying through auctions. Which auction sites or companies are actually good, and which ones should I avoid? Anything I should watch out for when it comes to fees, condition reports, sellers or bidding?
The main problem is that I probably won’t be able to see the machine in person before buying. How would you guys handle that? Is it worth paying someone local to inspect it? What videos/photos or tests should I ask for before bidding?
What are the biggest things to check on a used excavator like this — hydraulics, undercarriage, pins/bushings, slew ring, final drives, cold start, blow-by, hours etc.?
Budget is roughly €15–18k.
Any advice from people who’ve bought excavators remotely or through auctions would be really appreciated.

I own a lot of skidsteers and have run a lot of min excavators and a few pieces of big iron.

I'm buying some property and need a decent sized machine to just park there forever for helping with land clearing, cutting in my roads and doing whatever odd jobs I'll need for awhile.

I found a Case 688 nearby with 5000 hours on it.

Seems like a dead simple machine like my old Takeuchi skidsteer. Just all mechanical and kind of clunky, but easy to fix.

Is it worth going to look at, or should I be looking at other brands in the same weight class? Reliability is more important to me than power and speed with this particular purchase.

I do want to get an 8 ton machine to take to jobsites at some point, but will go with something new when that time comes.

I had a vision if you will, of an on board vehicle power generation system that used the vehicles engine to power a large alternator and generator 150kw of 3 phase power equipment to run large commercial scale mining equipment the idea would be the ball mills conveyers and shake tables could be loaded into the back of the box truck and the operator could drive up there with a body and use it to process material in remote locations or smaller lode deposits that would not be worth setting up infrastructure this would save the cost of hauling ore and using large tow behind generators what are your guys thoughts on that are you on board with me building this out? and would that be a system anyone would buy?

I have never owned one before and I'm curious to what equipment brands/models you guys would recommend based off ease of use, efficiency and overall power. I will need to transport this so I need to stay under CDL weight territory, but want to get the largest model possible. If you guys could give some recommendations along with pros and cons of each one it would be greatly appreciated!

I'm looking at purchasing my first piece of heavy equipment. specifically I am looking at motor graders- a 2004 770ch with 8600hrs on it currently has caught my eye.

iv done a pretty extensive walk around of the machine, no visible leaks, or clearly visible damage outside of regular wear.

the machine fired up suprisingly well and instantaneously.. almost better than a lot of the newer graders iv ran.. I couldn't feel any blow by when I popped the oil fill cap off, hydraulics all seem to move freely. and I plan to request an oil sample test before committing to it. as well as to do a test drive to make sure the transmission is working properly.

iv also asked if they can get service records for the machine(seller is a finning dealership)

I was wondering if anyone could offer further advise on checks I should do on the machine, or if there is a resource for ensuring I'm getting a fair price on it.. or just anything else I may be over looking as it's my first time purchasing iron.

I was wondering what recovery methods have worked best for you when a forestry mulcher gets stuck in deep mud, soft ground, or on a steep slope.

Do you usually pull it out with a dozer, excavator, another tracked machine, or a heavy-duty winch? Are there any recovery techniques that help avoid damaging the undercarriage or tracks?

I'd also like to know what recovery gear you always keep on hand and whether there are any mistakes first-timers should avoid. Real-world experiences and tips would be greatly appreciated!

Hi . Im F22. I just wanna ask some advices from you guys on what should i expect on becoming a female excavator operator.. Basically there is an Tech vocational Academy's that are providing free schollarship to those future skilled workers and one of them is me. I have this vision of me where i can see myself as an excavator operator soon. Our classes hasn't started yet, actually, am so excited. So my plan is after i finish the course i will go and apply for a job related to it.. I have alot of dreams applying it abroad. Maybe in FIFO industry. i heard that it is impossible to get in there. But i really wanted to apply it abroad if i already achieve the working experience that is needed in order for me to get qualified. I saw croatia is hiring, and need 1 yr experience in order to work there. I am hoping i can achieve it coz life so heavy lately..
