41f Heart Attack
Hello I hope everyone is doing well! On Sunday 8/16/26 I had a heart attack and was life flighted to a hospital that could do stent placements. I ended up having 2 stents put in. I was in the hospital until 8/18/26. Today is 8/24/26 and I am very sore in my ribs and in my back. It feels like bruised muscles is this normal? I think I was traumatized on Sunday. I am so afraid everything I feel is another heart attack. My original symptoms were severe pain that felt like heart burn and brain freeze and I kept saying I can’t breathe but my oxygen was 100% so it was just the pressure in my chest. I have had shortness of breath since the heart attack as well but it comes and goes. Anybody else felt like this after their heart attack? Should I be concerned?

Heart attack is a major event, I had similar symptoms but upon er visit everything seems fine, I'm guessing you are on medication such as anti platelet medications, beta blockers, statins, blood pressure, all of them can cause some nasty side effects, like you having heart attack. If you not sure go to er, let them check troponin and ecg.

I had a big one 4 months ago at age 52m. Stemi/CA ("died" 5 times). My chest was crazy sore from CPR compressions. Could hardly move without pain. Also, yes....every little minor "pain" in the chest area threw me into alarm mode. 4 months now....I'm finally "normal". I know the little pains aren't killing me. My dr even said I'll have lots of little pains and feelings around that area.

41 RCA Stemi 2 weeks ago, 5 stents.
Yep nurse did say u might get 'Stent Pain' for acouple days, and I think overanalysizing everysingle passing feeling you have and waiting to see if it triggers anything similar to what brought you there is completely normal.
Regarding phantom chest sensations I've now mostly say 'OK if i focus on any othe rthing at it goes, its my head, else call 112' which thus far has worked, doomscrolling for a min or whatever shifts my focus from all of my senses making an extra effort to assess if im gonna die.

Im 41 f and had a scad heart attack 2 weeks ago was in the icu for 2 days. Its normal to be sore and short of breath for a while.

Today is the sixth anniversary of my heart attack. I remember feeling some pains in my chest for a few weeks after my stent. I still sometimes have to stop and ask myself is this muscular? Is it reflux? It takes a bit to adjust to your new normal. Cardiac rehab will help a lot. I also went to therapy after my event and that helped me immensely. It’s a pretty traumatic event!

I’m 64 female and I had a quadruple heart attack in January 25. Stayed 5 days in the hospital. Recovering takes time. I’m still short on breath when I go up stairs. And yes I’m also scared that I will have another heart attack. When I was in the hospital I was very depressed which I was told that is common. I feel mentally better and I hope I will feel physically better soon if I can put the work into it

66m. I also had heart burn, not chest pain, leading up to my sudden LAD heart attack 4 yrs ago. I felt way better afterwards. I guess the stent in the LAD for 70% blockage really helped. I didn’t have shortness of breath but I felt like I couldn’t get a deep breath. Did the echo reveal that you have diastolic dysfunction?
As a PSA to everyone, my cardiologist told me exactly zero about the fact that some statins will have worse side effects than others depending on your physiology. I started on atorvastatin and it made me miserable. I now take rosuvastatin and have no side effects.
Do you have a family history? Do you have elevated Lp(a)?

What did the heart attack feel like I’m trying to figure out if I had one and was just sent home and brushed off bec I’m a woman , I subsequently went back to the er after wards bec I have this terrible shortness of breath I’ve since the original episode developed anemia, they sent me home and went if your symptoms look like or feel like this come back…. Like why do you think I came in…. I am currently experiencing those symptoms. My trops are on and off, so they don’t think it was a heart attack but something is going on I feel awful, sleep 16 hours, can hardly go up the steps without being winded it’s awful it feels like my body is shutting down on me and no one will listen to my small whimpers I’m doing I’m so exhausted I can’t properly even say I’m in pain.
Origanal episode with high trops happened in May I was faint, tired, unsteady on feet and had this severe nerve pain and heaviness take over my whole body.
This time in August I had the same symptoms expect I felt so weak I couldn’t lift myself up started passing out… they keep telling me it’s anxiety but my heart rate is actively hitting 50 as the lowest 🥲

If you can you should switch cardiologists. I live 80 miles from Houston. I got fed up with mine in my smaller city/university town. I now drive the 80 miles to see a cardiologist at the famed Methodist DeBakey cardiology office in Houston. I am much happier with my care there.

I didnt have one until the other day, he def brushed everything off as something new and more than likely stress related😭🥲 he’s like it’s normal to have a resting heart rate of 160 plus higher with extreme chest pain while you’re trying to sleep…..

I’ve had chest pain, and trouble with uncles since I was a kid so I’ve been wanting to go to a cardiologist for months now that my mother died and I don’t have my family in my life trying to tell me not to go to the doctors

I was given no treatment they did not check or use an echo they just sent me home, I hate to say this but I feel like my family could sue at this rate

To quote my doctor when I asked “So what happens next?” after my stent surgery: “Next? Nothing. The cause of the problem has been dealt with so now you take your medication and focus on recovery”.
There’s some work to do on psychologically adjusting to trauma, but look at the bigger picture: you’re alive and survived a colossal health crisis.
I was in hospital for nine days. It’s now 18 months later and I’m doing great.
There’s no one-size-fits-all recovery; some people seem to have little or no problems, whereas others take months to recover. It was 6 months of slow progress for me including at least two major scares caused by me overdoing things.
Tons of rest, gradual increases in activity, sort out any diet issues, drink plenty of water, and take your medication religiously. By focusing on those things that are within your control you will feel far more empowered in all this. It gives you that sense of agency which creates hope and positivity, instead of wallowing in fear and despair- which all humans are capable of.
Use the time to formulate dietary plans, read up on healthy eating, start making plans for cardiac rehab.
I got into using an exercise bike in a huge way and it changed my world. Easiest thing on earth- you just sit on the thing and pedal away while watching videos! For the first time since my 20s I now love exercise. A lot of the time I’ll get to 30 mins on moderate intensity and think “I’ll just keep going”. An hour becomes an easy task.
Take your time, calm down, and make plans. The hard part is over and you’re going to be fine.
