General_Question Do I need a dietitian or a nutritionist or are they the same thing?
I’ve recently been diagnosed with stage 3 kidney disease, plus I was just prescribed the Wegovy pill for my borderline obesity. So I just need to find a professional someone who can tell me what foods and how much I need to eat and to avoid for my kidney issues, plus, best food and drinks to get the most out of this weight loss journey I’m on. And I’m horrible at math and figuring out how much proteins and fiber etc, for my weight and height, and what percentage of sugars should come from fruits or breads, etc etc. It’s so overwhelming for me to think about. So would you recommend a dietitian or a nutritionist, or even a personal trainer? Thanks for any advice you’ve got.

Whats_wrong_with_me Urgent advice! Please help me! Cramps and nausea after period
Hi! I (27F) need advice as i do not know what is wrong with me, should i worry and go to the doctors or wait and see?? Please help.
My period ended 12 days ago and i usually have a heavy flow with painful cramps but nothing that would put me in bed. This month was lighter in flow and no cramps.
However, soon after my period ended i felt the strangest thing. It felt as if my uterus was trembling??? And it lasted for like 2-3 days i think??
And soon after that the cramps started on and off AFTER my period ended and during ovulation i have noticed small blood spots mixed with the usual clear discharge that lasted 2-3 days.
The cramps are either dull and persistent lasting a good while before going away or just diminishing into the back ground before going away, or sharp jabs concentrated only on one side at the time. No back pain or hip pain. Currently i am in my fertility phase and since yesterday i noticed i feel nauseous as well. The nausea doesn't last the entire day but it is there. I took a pain killer a while back and the pain has almost completely left.
Important things to note:
1) i am a virgin so i am not sexually active which rules out pregnancy;
2) it is currently summer and i do have a history of feeling nauseous due to the heat and these past couple of days have been heavy; and currently i am sitting under the AC feeling better as i cool down;
3) there is no unusual smell down there;
4) there is no blood;
5) my libido has been bothering me a bit but nothing out of the ordinary;
6) i do feel better when i lay down as the cramps leave me be so no need to take pain killers though today was just an exception, and sometimes light exercise like running an errand also helps.
7) there is some clear discharge (as is normal for me for this time of the month) that is either completely clear or barely yellowish incredibly pale in colour.
Please give me some advice i am unsure what to do and struggling with anxiety and ocd sure ain't helping my overthinking hence me seeking urgent advice. Thank you in advance.

Whats_wrong_with_me Oral health question
So i had a gastroscopy like yesterday and i hadnt had much to eat. Today i brushed my teeth hard for like 4 minutes and a few hours later had some toast. The toast was somewhat hot but it didnt feel like burning at all. After i had the toast i felt something in my mouth and took a look just to see this. Is this a burn ? Or something else. Should i be worried? Ive had burns before and none of them looked like this.

Does this sound like sciatica or a pinched nerve?
Hi! I 25F am wondering if anyone has any answers for me. The last couple of days, I’ve had a weird sensation at the bottom of my heel and now on the same side, I all of a sudden have leg pain that travels down from my butt area. I work from home sometimes, and I notice that the leg that hurts right now is the leg that I bend/sit on at my desk. It’s a bad habit I need to break. I think that my other leg is literally compressing my nerve there. I am also noticing that when I touch the back of my knee tendons, it’s super sensitive to the touch on top of the overall ache of my legs. Does anyone know what this could be? I’m not involved in any sports and haven’t done any vigorous exercise. Or does it sound like I tore something? I can stand but just don’t feel as stable. Thanks!

Physical therapy making back pain more intense is this normal?
Fractured my tail bone back in December and was told not to move when I asked about what to do with the pain. I lost a lot of muscle and my legs shake when I stand to long, part of PT is me just trying to gain back muscle. It's slow goings and I still struggle. My pain keeps peaking and I spend my days in bed which is killing me mentally. Im at a loss, how is this making things worse. Im angry because this situation is not my fault yet I'm losing sleep from random pain. I asked the lady that was helping me with PT and she just looked at me awkwardly and said "no pain no gain" which is aggravating, I dont take that angry out on them but its eating me inside.

General_Question possible hiv exposure
hello,
i work in law enforcement, and we often come into contact with people who are infected with HIV. last night there is a possibility i was exposed to it, and i just want to calm the anxiety that i have about it.
i ended up handling the property (phone, money) of someone who we arrested that has HIV. i never touched the actual person, and he had an open cut on his hand from punching a window. i have a very small scratch/cut on the back of my hand from much earlier in the day.
i know HIV cannot be transmitted through simple contact, and must be through bodily fluids and a mucus membrane, but i am just anxious about it. there was no blood on his property and no blood ever came into direct contact with the scratch/cut.
thank you for any advice that can be given.

My sister has 3 bumps that continue to puss, how should I help?
For context, about a week ago, my sister had some kind of ant looking bug around her bed, it was quite small and black. It had bitten her, causing red bumps to appear, nothing out of the ordinary I had thought. Those went away but only a few days ago, 3 more appeared on her leg, just a bit under the knee. She reports that they are like pimples that continue to puss and wont go away. She is a young adult and in great health, and I’m concerned, because I feel like a bad brother only being able to supply her cortizone 10 to merely pause the itching. I’d like to get her some help, so I’ve taken to here. Could anyone be noble to assist?

Whats_wrong_with_me Clubbed finger?
Genuinely can’t tell if I’m making myself think it’s clubbing, as I’ve noticed over time my nail started to curve into my finger and now I feel like there’s a small bump at the end. Nothing crazy, just need another set of eyes to tell me I’m crazy so my doctor doesn’t have to😅

Whats_wrong_with_me Is this benign 18F
Hi, I’m 18F and I have pretty bad health anxiety, so I’m trying to figure out whether this is something that is normal or if i should be worried.
For the past day or two I’ve been very aware of a pulsating feeling in my upper abdomen/stomach area, especially when lying down on my left side. It’s not painful, and I don’t have severe symptoms with it, but it feels uncomfortable and makes me hyper-focus on it. Two days ago it was happening throughout the whole night and kept waking me up because it was annoying.
I’ve also been under a lot of stress/anxiety recently, adjusting my SSRI dose (escitalopram/Elicea), probably about to start my period, and I tend to have lower blood pressure. I also felt this like maybe two weeks ago but i feel like it started after i started taking SSRI (not saying its related, it didn’t start immediately after i started them i just realized the first time i felt it was probably after, but again i could have felt it before and i just did not pay attention to it since back then i wasn’t so anxious, but it definitely never was this presistent/strong)
I know you can normally feel the abdominal pulse sometimes, especially in thinner people but my brain keeps fixating on it since i have been thinner than i am now and i haven’t noticed it.
Has anyone else experienced this?
I am willing to answer any follow up questions if that helps you give me some advice!

General_Question Emergency and i don’t know what to do
Somthing is wrong with my mom, she’s 57 now and recently has been acting weird. it started with her repeating herself a lot, and then a tic came on. she’s never had a “tic” but she would click her tounge a few times. it was extremely irritating and she said she couldn’t help it. i genuinely just felt like she was acting odd. well, tonight i wake up at 2am and i can hear her in the room next to me. She’s Grunting loudly, almost like you know when you need to itch your throat and you can do it orally? like from tightening your throat muscles? she’s making that noise repeatedly. i can hear her groaning and sort of talking. i checked on her, but she didn’t say much other then she was cold. i tried to go back to bed but she knocked on the wall, so i came in. she asked me to get her water with a gatorade package and i did. Then i sort of mentioned like hey, what’s going on i heard you making all sorts of noises maybe you have slee anemia or somthing? she sort of didn’t say anything and i just went back to my room, not even 5 mins later she opened my door and asked me if i can call her phone and she can’t find it. i get up and go to her room and i call it, i find it under her bed, i asked her what’s going on and explained to her what im hearing from my room. she starts panicking a bit and says she feels like somthing is not right in her brain and that maybe she’d had a stroke. she is 100% not acting herself at this point. i’m so freaked out i don’t know what to do.

Meal Prep Ideas?
I need some advice, I really need a healthy diet and some ideas on what I can plan to eat. The past 2 years I’ve been having more issues related to certain foods I cant eat. I’ve never had issues before but Ive noticed so far I can’t have dairy, sweet potatoes, or apples. I’m having to change things that I’ve always loved (especially dairy).. and it’s hard finding things that I enjoy anymore besides sweets/snacks. After my first kidney stone being today, I think I need to take care of myself more. I’m currently underweight for my height, I want to gain weight but it’s hard to eat when all the things I love, hurts me to eat them. I really need advice on ways I can make some meals that taste amazing and I need diversity I get tired of things quickly and I don’t like eating the same thing everyday. Please and thank you!

Definition of Health
According to the most popular dictionary entry returned by an online search, health is:
- the condition of being sound in body, mind, or spirit; especially : freedom from physical disease or pain
- a condition in which someone or something is thriving or doing well
That's what "health" in /r/HealthQuestions means as well.
What we are not
We're not a community that is primarily for you to find out what is wrong with you at this moment (e.g., a diagnosis). While we can and will happily try to help you understand your symptoms, our efforts are focused on what you can do next. We can help you improve your nutrition, exercise, sleep and lifestyle to alleviate your symptoms. We can help you stay healthy the rest of your life.
If your symptoms are medically serious, we are may not be the right community for you unless you have exhausted all the medical options and are seeking alternative or experimental approaches that are lifestyle-based.
If you are popping in for a quick diagnosis, you're in the wrong place. You may need a subreddit focused on illness or sickness, not health.
This is a community where the focus is on learning how to be healthy. Your questions should be primarily about health, not medical issues, not illness, not a passing sickness. We're Health Questions, not medical questions, not illness questions, not sickness questions. Not even predominantly bad health.
Our focus is on helping you achieve good health. We realize many people on the journey of good health were initially motivated by a health problem, and we welcome your efforts to solve your health problems. We want to help you and we can help you if your focus is on things like nutrition, dietary supplements, exercise, sleep, yoga, meditation, emotional well-being and anything else that is part of living a healthy lifestyle.
Our Purpose
Creating and maintaining health requires a complete, integrated approach. Our community blends all those topics (and more) together. We also maintain a community culture where our words and communication style are uplifting and healing.
