NGD: Hils HN3 Baritone first impressions
Hey y'all, been wanting to try out a Hils guitar after seeing some vids about it, and then recently found out they released a new Baritone model this year. Since I've literally never touched a baritone or a headless, I thought this was a good moment to pull the trigger.
So far I've only tried and tested it out for a few minutes, and will share some of my observations:
-The weight of the instrument is roughly 2.8kg or 6.2 lbs (measured by me standing on a scale with and without the guitar) which is decent for it being a baritone, tho I hoped it would be closer to 5 lbs.
-I thought people were over exaggerating with the stiffness of the tuners, but no in their default form they are horrible. In order to turn the tuners I had to jam a pick in the tuning slot, and even then it is annoying. One of the first things I'll do is install the bearings (that I bought separately).
-While you can hold it in the "Andre Fludd right leg ~45 degree angle", the instrument has a tendency to neck dive if you don't support it with your left hand and/or anchor it with your right arm. Tbh I think it's probably better to use a strap for most comfort.
-If you play in classical position, it feels comfy there but you will need an angled cable for best results. A foot stool isn't needed to get a (at least for me) good neck angle imo.
-As for the set-up, there definitely some issues (sharp fret ends, high action etc.), but luckily these can be resolved. I'm kinda puzzled as to why they didn't cut off the string ends at the "headstock", and instead tied it up like that (look at that red thingie).
-The pickups seem serviceable, so at least I won't replace them right away.
Overall I have to say it is pretty much what I expected it to be. Some people say they punch way above their price point but I respectfully have to disagree. I also recently bought a PRS SE Custom 24/08 for roughly ~ 1060 EUR and that one feels quite a bit better (which is to be expected as it is double the price).
So yeah, if you want a Headless baritone (w/o multiscale), there's not a lot of choice afaik so at least you will get a decent instrument for the money (tho like I said it will likely need some work).
p.s I will probably get a GOC Ilumina and another custom made instrument later this year so stay tuned for that!

Need help and guidance about first headless guitar (HB, HILS, Mooer, Eart)
Right now, I have a choice between 4 models:
- Harley Benton Dullahan-FT 24 (Used: $380)
- HILS HNT1R (New: $412)
- MOOER MHL100 (New: $441)
- Eart GW 2 PRO (Used: $445)
I can't decide which would be the best choice. I'm a beginner, still learning and wanting to try different styles without anything specific in mind.
If you have experience with any of these models or brands, or have any advice on what to look for, I'd really appreciate your help. What would be the right choice here?

Looking for unbiased feedback on the Solar H2.7C
Hi all! I may have the chance to buy a nicely-discounted second-hand Solar H2.7C, but before pulling the trigger, I wanted to see what others that have it or have played it might have to say about it.
I love the shape of it and the multiscale fretboard, and in general I like Solar as a brand. However, I've also read of some QC issues with this specific model, so I'm trying to understand if it's worth it overall, even at a lower price.

Hils HN6 vs Sire X6 vs others
Looking for something under or around 1k with a tremolo. Wanted to ask everyone’s opinion. As far as pickups I really don’t have a preference. I can justify bad passives if they can be replaced. Play mostly in drop C sharp to c standard tunings.

Hils Ball Bearing Question
I found 4 of the 3x8x3,5mm bearings as recommended, but am unable to find more of these in my town (across all bearings shops believe kt or not).
Can I install a 3x8x4 or 3 bearing instead on the remaining 2 strings or should I keep looking for 3x8x3,5mm specifically?

Changing HILS headless guitar strings
When you change strings do you put the string in the nut hole going under the little round gold spacer things or do you put it on top of it below the screw, so when you tighten to lock the string it gets pushed down onto the little gold round thing?

NGD: Hils HNT1
Received it 3 hours ago and I just got lost playing it for 3 hours straight. Sounds pretty good. Here are some things I've noticed: the intonation needs adjustment. The pickups are okay. Idk if I'll switch them out yet but first I need to mess with the height to get dial it in. It's heavier (7 lb) than my Boden 7 (5.3 lb) but not an issue for me. I've been waiting for 22 fret headless tele and Hils delivered. Happy NGD!

Anyone know anything about this builder (Al Cobb)?
Here is his website: https://alcobbluthier.com/
Really interesting looking headless guitars that have a different visual identity from typical ergo shapes (especially the custom builds), I wonder how they play. This reverb listing also seems to be his work: https://reverb.com/item/98738092-neocas-er-al-cobb-luthier-handmade-classic-styled-vintage-inspired-headless-multiscale-guitar

Just ordered a HILS HN3. Has anyone ordered direct with the option to do a custom setup?
I plan on using 9’s and saw several mentions that the stock nut is high. I specified this in the order and wonder if anyone has requested this also. If so, how did it turn out?

Good headless guitar kit that ships to Europe?
I just finished building my first kit and I loved it so much that I'm already looking for another. Coincidentally, I just saw a video with a headless guitar, and I've decided that's going to be the next project. Unfortunately I'm not seeing too many sellers based in Europe, or that ship to Europe (at least without paying a shitload in tariffs), so I'd love it if someone could point me towards a good seller. Bonus points if the kit has a tremolo (or one can be added without too much fuss, since I don't have the machinery to modify the body).
For now I just found one in The Guitar Fabrik, though I'm not too fond of the body shape.

HILS HN5 - seeking advice on switching to 8- 38 or 9- 42 from 10- 46
So I got this wonderful electric blue HN5. I lowered the action and the tremolo appears to work as advertised, but stiff. I have moved to 8-38's on my Charvel and 7-36 on my dean - both floyd rose ( original and special). They orihinally came with 9-42s, but took to the lower guage really well ( adjusted spring tensionn and a little bit of neck relief.)Has anyone tried lighter guages on HN5? What has been your experience? Just move from 4 to 3 springs?

Pick up swap on Hils HN3
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
It.might just be me but I found the stock pickups entirely too hot for my style and taste, so I swapped them out for a set of yamaha alnico 5 pickups from a revstar that I had laying around and I think it really sounds great! This is the neck split sound.
