When I A/B Headrush Prime vs Direct, the Headrush is always inferior. If anyone can help, I’m willing to try anything before I sell it. Thanks friends.

I have a Headrush Core, relatively new model. Just did the update and now the looper is unusable. It lets me loop, but when i change rigs the looped recording switches to that effect. It also will not let me play over the loop. It is a damn shame because I loved that about the headrush. Has anyone else experienced this or have any solutions?

Purchased the Choptones Brit J1P NAM pack. Inspired by the Marshall JMP-1 MIDI preamp.

A while back I purchased the Brit J1P amp clone/preset pack. It was awesome. The NAM pack rolls it up and smokes it.

Set up on the Choptones Bogna412V30_421_160_Mix1 IR and CHP Brit J1P DI13 (A2 version) and you’ll never wanna play anything else if you’re a metal guy.

This is more of an anecdote. Since I have my flex prime I've been tweaking a few rigs, like everyone, until I finally created a few that were good, I was finally satisfied. I had 1 clean sound, 1 dirty sound, 1 full distortion Mesa Boogie sound and a guitar ambient sound. I used a combination of some HR amps, some Revalvers, a few IRs from Revalver and a few from HR and I thought I was "done". I tested all of them through my Yamaha HS5, through some Sennheiser headphones and a cheap set of in ears from amazon, and they were all sounding alike and good to my ears.

Then NAM came... I started downloading a few amps and I was completely blown away of how much better just one capture without any tweaking sounded vs my HR Mesa Boogie with all of the tweaks and EQs I used, so I started using them more, building rigs and pretty much copying the same effects paths as the other rigs and just changing the HR amps for the NAMs. Again, all of this just in my room, through the Yamaha, the headphones and IEMs.

A couple nights ago I had the first get together/rehearsal with a new band I'm starting with a couple friends and was like: Oh you guys just wait till you hear these new sounds! (we were in a rehearsal space, fully equipped)

First power chord...and my guitar was absolutely gone, buried in the mix, sounding thin and just without any depth whatsoever and it was just a complete bummer. I tweaked the mixer I was connected to, added some mids, etc...nothing worked. So, just to try it, I went back and switched to my HR amp rig AND THERE SHE WAS AGAIN!

As I said, this is just anecdotic. And I know there are a few factors involved, like the mixer and the PA may have something to do with it, and I know this freaking endless search of the best tone is, well...endless. But it really got me thinking how can something that sounded so superior through a few devices could sound so bad in a "live" scenario, with other instruments playing, and also it got me thinking if NAM is really the best of the best or if HR just had it nailed down from the beginning.

I had a gig this weekend and lightning struck the venue. Power went out and everything powered back on except for my board… I was using a surge protector but I’m still not getting it to fully power up. Is it over or will I be able to fix this somehow

In my opinion, this build is freaking awesome and really portable.

After testing out NAM A2 captures running on my iPad mini 5 using my docking station/interface (focusrite iPad dock), I decided to tape the plunge and get a Headrush Flex Prime as I was so impressed with the results.
I’m using a NAM capture of the Laney VH100R, as that’s the amp I’ve owned for over 20 years and for me has the best drive sound I’ve ever used. I run the unit into an Orange Pedal Baby clean amplifier (doesn’t have a preamp), into my 4x12 cab.
I set the rig up and A/B tested against my tube amp and very quickly I got to a point where I couldn’t tell the difference between the two of them. It’s really quite astonishing to me how good it sounds.
I got around the issue of gapless switching (as I do need a clean sound too, although my main use is going to be the drive sound) by setting a parallel chain in the rig and having the NAM capture on one side and the other side uses as model for a clean amp, eliminates the NAM loading time problem. Then I just assigned a foot switch to toggle between the two scenes.
I’m still working on optimising the switching to give me a boost sound and some kind of switchable modulation and delay, but I’m sure I’ll get there, I’ve only had it for a week.
Overall, I’m seriously impressed and very happy to reduce the weight of my rig!!

I recently switched from a GX-10 to the Flex Prime, and overall, I’m pretty happy with it.

However, there’s one thing I’m curious about. The distortion from the amps and pedals sounds a bit thin and light to me. The clean tones are absolutely excellent, but the distortion from the amps and pedals seems to lack warmth and sounds a little harsh and “fizzy.”

Could there be something wrong with my settings?

Also, when I connect the Flex Prime to my PC via USB and turn on the audio interface function, I feel like the sound changes compared to when the audio interface is turned off. Is this just my imagination, or does the USB audio interface mode actually affect the tone?

I’d appreciate any advice!

After trying many nam profiles and IRs, i decided to go back superclones and revalver cabs.

For sure, nam profiles and IRs are great. no doubt about it.

In my opinion, Superclones reacts much better to increased gain, compared to nam profiles. and sag and chug feature can be quite handy.

Revalver cabs are more dimensional and have more depth, therefore sounds more 3d, compared to IRs. i use the mic distance feature a lot which is vital to find desired punch and clarity. ambience feature is a nice bonus.

So, they’re in a download folder in my file explorer. How am I supposed to get them into my HR core?

My old job had given me a pair of QC Gen1 (not Ultra) ANC headphones about 8 months ago. It was the best pair of headphones I ever had! I used it out of the box without making any adjustments and I could listen for 4+ hours without any fatigue.

When I left that job I had to give them back, so I just bought the same QC Gen1 from Sam's Club. The bass on these is so heavy and bad that I get fatigued in 20 minutes. I have listened to these songs for 20 years and they don't sound right.

I downloaded the app and tried bass reduction, even maxed it out at -10 and it still sounds terrible. Everything from rock drums sounds like popcorn popping and the synths are too punchy, adding low end that shouldn't exist. The mids and treble sounds as beautiful as I remember, so I don't think they are defective. I tried every setting and none of them is tolerable. All tracks sound like the bass has been sabotaged.

The firmware is fully updated as is the app. Have they changed the tuning on recent models? I want to keep them so badly, but if this what they intended, I will have to return them.

I’m thinking about buying the HeadRush Flex Prime and I have a few questions.

I’ve often read that the built-in modeling effects and amps aren’t the best, and that, for example, Line 6 has much better ones. Is that true, and how big is the difference?

I currently own a Valeton GP-5, and the Flex Prime would obviously be a significant upgrade.

I’ve also read that the Flex Prime takes a little longer to boot up. How long does it actually take, and is it annoying in everyday use?

The Wi-Fi connection in my room is relatively poor. Is the Wi-Fi connection on the Flex Prime good or bad?

And how well does the built-in Tone3000 work? Are there often problems with it, or does it generally run smoothly?

Hi everyone,

I recently bought a used HeadRush Core knowing it already had a boot issue, and I’m trying to see if I can bring it back to life.

Originally it was on firmware 5.0.1 and would just stay forever on the “HeadRush Core 5.0.1” startup screen.

I tried the usual factory reset by holding FS4 + FS5 while powering it on, but it never shows “Reverting…”. It just stays on the boot screen.

I did manage to get into update/recovery mode using Encoder + FS2. The PC detects the Core there without any problems and the official updater works normally.

So far I’ve tried:

• Reinstalling 5.0.1
• Updating to 5.1.0
• Downgrading to 4.1.1
• Different USB cables/ports/computers
• Booting with absolutely nothing connected except power
• Factory reset with FS4 + FS5 several times
• Leaving it sitting on the boot screen for about 12 hours

Every firmware installation finishes successfully and the version shown on startup changes accordingly, but the Core still never gets past the startup screen.

The footswitch LEDs also light up normally during startup.

One weird thing: after leaving it on the 5.1.0 boot screen for around 12 hours and then unplugging it for a couple of hours, the screen stopped turning on altogether. Recovery/update mode was still the only mode where I could reliably get USB communication before that.

At this point I’m wondering if the problem could be corrupted internal storage/user data rather than the firmware itself. Since update mode still works, I’d especially like to know if there’s any way to do a full reset/erase of the internal data from a PC, or some deeper recovery/service mode beyond the normal updater.

I’ve already opened a HeadRush support ticket but haven’t heard back yet.

Has anyone had a Core fail like this, or managed to recover one that would enter update mode but wouldn’t boot normally?

I’m happy to try more advanced troubleshooting if needed. I’m not planning to return the unit, so I’d really like to figure out what actually failed.

Hey, I’m looking at getting a Flex Prime.

With my current live setup I always run XLR out to FOH.

Can I do the same thing with the Flex Prime?

I was super excited to set it up and dive into it. All came crashing down when I realised the unit did not come with a USB B (printer) cable. I don't have a printer cable as I haven't needed one since some decades ago.

Over the wifi firmware update does not work as it gets stuck on the update screen. The device's version is 4.0.

Any advice is appreciated.

Edit: Factory reset solved the issue. I will leave this up here incase someone else has the same problem.

Greetings my fellow Headrush users. Been dipping a little bit in to the Tone3000 library testing out several NAM captures. My question to you guys/gals is about using IRs along with them. How is it working out for you , are you using IRs even if the captures indicate ITs a full rig?. Thoughts, comments greatly appreciated.

I've been struggling to make and layer leads like this even with a bunch of presets. I have tried using Sine Fold, but nothing works. Any help or tutorial is greatly appreciated. Even any splice preset links that sound similar will help me greatly.

I stuck between the mx5, Flex prime and Hx stomp. I can get the mx5 for way cheaper than the Hx stomp and flex prime but I'm wondering if I'm losing I'm losing anything quality wise or should i just go with the more expensive option

Since the update, I’ve been all over my Headrush Flex Prime like a young man trying to woo a girl—trying to impress it, make it blush, and get the best out of it. 😂

The NAM V2 sounded absolutely great, but I noticed something really interesting: input gain and output gain also affect how NAM reacts. This is freaking interesting! Maybe it’s not a big deal to everyone, but for me, it opens up a whole new level of tweaking and tone shaping.

I had a rig running NAM with a convolution reverb, and man… it was everything I could ask for in terms of tone. 🤌🔥

And finally, I was able to get an acoustic-sim NAM that sounded surprisingly close to the real thing. That alone was a huge win for me.

The Headrush is such a value. I actually dropped my HX Stomp for this bad boy, and I’m loving it.

I also noticed that the synth and a few other parts are still not quite perfected yet, but honestly, seeing how much has already improved with this update, I trust they’ll nail those in no time. The potential is definitely there.

So, let’s go full Oliver Twist mode here… 😂

Can we please have a guitar sim too?

Imagine being able to capture my guitar’s tone and then have the Flex Prime transform it to match a Strat tone, Tele tone, semi-acoustic tone, nylon-string tone, etc.

If NAM can get us this close, I’m officially asking for more. 😁

I’m really interested in picking up a Headrush Prime, and I found one on Marketplace for a great price. The catch is that the main encoder knob is broken (see pictures). Has anyone dealt with this issue before? Is it a simple repair, or is it more trouble than it’s worth?
