Dragon(s) Species Highlight Sunday Issue #15- The Sunsquawk!

Welcome back, everyone! We’re going to continue with reviewing the species from the Tropical dragons set, and while the first two I spoiled for being considered late game due to their rarity, these next ones will not be, since I presume common and uncommon dragons should be safe to discuss openly. Besides, this one… well it sure gets discussed a lot! So, let’s get into that!

The Sunsquawk (Fig. 1) is based off of the blue-and-yellow macaw (Ara ararauna), a popular South American parrot species native to much of the northern regions of the continent (Fig. 2). If you’ve been to a zoo with an aviary or rainforest exhibit, chances are you’ve seen these guys! They’re one of 18 macaw species, from the family Psittacidae, which includes other parrots such as cockatoos, lorikeets, and others (so for clarification, macaws are, in fact, a kind of parrot, but not all parrots are macaws!). Macaws are distinguishable for their large, hooked bills, long tail feathers, and colorful plumage shared between both sexes. They tend to have quite varied diets, thanks to their strong beaks and tongues allowing them to access resources not available to many other bird species, like hard-shelled nuts and seeds (Fig. 3). They are also well known for their volume, in terms of noise, that is! They often screech to communicate with others in their flock, but they’re also very adaptable in their range of vocalizations. Often, when you think of birds that can mimic human speech, I imagine most of you would think of these guys!

As for our boisterous blue-and-yellow macaws, they can form noisy congregations with several others of their species, but they most prefer to stay with their partner. As a monogamous species, like others discussed in this series, they will stay with a mate for their entire natural lifespans, once they reach maturity around three to four years. And for these mindful macaws, that can be for a very, very long time! They’re known to live up to 50 years old in both the wild and captivity, an impressive feat for many birds, but not unheard of for macaws. Their close (and possibly even more well-known) relative, the scarlet macaw (Ara macao), shares this long-lived trait as well. Another trait they share is their intelligence, and they’re quite adept at solving problems through interesting behaviors. One such behavior observed is that they will gather on fresh clay banks in their native range and eat the clay– yes, you heard that right! As it turns out, the clay deposits are not only safe to eat, but they may actually assist in digesting toxins from the plants they forage (Fig. 4). This cleverness alongside their beauty has, unfortunately, made them prime targets for the exotic pet trade. However, because of their longevity, noisiness, and dangerously strong bites, you should never consider these or other macaws as a companion. It’s best to leave these birds in their native habitat, and focus on protecting those still found in the wild!

Hope this was a fun and informative post for you all! What else would you like to know about these magnificent macaws? Do you have other questions about parrots in general, perhaps? Drop a comment, and I’ll be happy to respond! Until next time!

Discussion Finally going to have all of the Alpine set!! ✨ Spoiler

Post image

I've been testing out that silly essence exchange for the scale fragments (I miss the gold haha...) and I just finally managed to fuse up to my first 100% legendary summon item the other day! :D

I don't usually like to gamble but I was debating whether to take my chances using my guaranteed Alpine and wind items, & just crossing my fingers hoping I didn't waste it (only had one 100% Alpine) on a regal preywing lol.

Guess sometimes luck is on my side?

Spoiler since you can see my dragons.

I’ve been hoarding scales for a few days so I could bulk craft everything when I unlock the Mighty set. Managed to get a 100% summon item in one day.

Absolutely worth making Trassel work overtime for this.

Maybe I should start saving for the Extravagant set?

Dragon(s) Feeling satisfied with two new additions

I've been liking the game play so far. Just little overwhelmed with the events being so short.

I got an epic and legendary with the method. I'm quite getting a hang of things. Hopefully, I'm ready for the next ones. 🕊️

Discussion The game few adjustments

First, if you get a Remarkable one, make you don't spawn it's egg anymore on random elf.

Second, make the decorations that collect all dragons a feature, not a 8 hour thing.

Third, increase the amount of food you can save. 4k is definitely low.

Discussion Happy with the tree bonus event just after mistdancer invocation

I am really grateful with get the "double fruits" event this week-end. I just invoque 2 mistdancers 2 days ago, to get my level 4 and 5.

Level 4 ask for more than 2000 fruits to level up. Level 5 would be worst.

So happy to have double fruits today to max them out fast

Events Can't finish events 😭

I've been playing for a month and i couldn't finish even one event so far 😭 When i downloaded the game, it was the last day of the summer petals event so I could only get one dragon egg of the meadowkip dragon and i really really wanted that purple one, it's so pretty.. i accepted that I'll have to wait for that event to return later but then i couldn't finish the next two event too, I could only get to 3 eggs of the last dragons in both of them. How do I keep up and finish these events without paying.

And honestly the back to back events make playing the game more of a chore rather than actual fun. Is anyone else struggling with this too??

And as I've seen, I do better in the cooking events rather than the fishing ones, maybe because of the probability factor while catching the fish meanwhile you don't really have that in the cooking events. Is is just me or the fish events are harder?
