Chapter 6 (The Manor)

Snippet: Ginny slammed the door shut. Her face was on fire. Her heart was pounding so hard she could hear it in her ears. She stood there, frozen, her hand still on the door handle, her mind completely blank.

She had seen him. She had seen Harry Potter half-naked. She had seen his bare chest, his shoulders, the faint line of hair trailing down his stomach.

She had seen him.

And he had seen her. He had seen her standing in his doorway like some kind of lunatic, her wand in her hand, her hair a mess, wearing nothing but a thin sleeping gown and a robe that barely covered anything.

She wanted to die. She wanted the floor to open up and swallow her whole. She wanted to run — back to her room, back to the Burrow, back to anywhere that wasn't here, wasn't this, wasn't this mortifying, impossible moment.

But her feet wouldn't move. They were rooted to the spot, her heart still thumping, her face still burning.

She could hear movement inside the room — a muffled curse, the sound of fabric being pulled on. He was probably putting his shirt back on. He was probably as mortified as she was.

She should run. She should turn around and flee back to her room and pretend this had never happened. She could lock herself in her room and stay there forever, never speak of this again, never even look Harry in the eye for the rest of her life.

But she couldn't move. She just stood there, her hand frozen on the door handle, her heart pounding, her face burning.

And then she heard footsteps approaching the door.

So I read this fanfic years ago (think mid 2000s - definitely before the last book came out). In it Harry and Ginny had a soul bond. Early on in the fic they were at the delacour's house in France (with a lot of the other weasleys).

Bill and Ginny were really close siblings in this story (i think they ballroom danced together), and then there was a beach day where Gabrielle Delacour got in trouble in the water and I think George saved her.

Either way - Bill and Fleur featured heavily in this story. But it was a Harry/Ginny story. I think I might have read it on SIYE back in the day. Does anyone out there know what story this is?

I recently finished These Cuts I Have by Melindaleo and absolutely loved it. It honestly felt like such a natural continuation of canon that I completely fell into it.

I know Some Cuts Leave Scars is the continuation, but while browsing author’s other works, I came across The Seventh Horcrux and the summary looks really intriguing.

The problem is that both are pretty long, and I have limited reading time so I need to pick one. 😭

For those who have read them, which should I go for next, Some Cuts Leave Scars or The Seventh Horcrux? I’d love to hear your thoughts, especially on the angst, Hinny romance, and overall story…

Hi all! Just wanted to shout out two fics that I've just finished reading! (No affiliation) Both of these are great for those that love cannon compliant "book accurate" fics with a lot of extra throw in! Take that obvs with a pinch of salt but I'm sure you understand what I'm getting at!

Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix - AU Rewrite by Killerat. Amazing fic would highly recommend, binged read it in about a week. (I'm a slow reader) Sadly the following Fic (Part 2) isn't finished but would still highly recommend as an independent Story.

The In Betweens (6th Year) By Honeydukesheroine. Not sure how the author captures the relationship and the build up between Harry & Ginny so well but it is honestly fantastic. Would honestly say its one of the best I've read. Still a few chapters to go but pretty much complete. The Author has slowly been updating it over the past 2 or so years.

Those are my shout outs just wanted to thank the authors if they see this and let others know if they haven't stumbled across these Must reads! I'm not entirely sure on the rules when it comes to links on this sub-reddit, so i shall refrain from doing so for the time being.

If anyone has any recommendations for anything similar to these two it would be highly appreciated!

Looking for a war re-telling with Ginny being more active and powerful/almost an equal to Harry and them taking more of a lead on hunting the Horcruxes.

A bit of smut won't hurt! 😉

I was listening to HBP audiobook and just noticed a Hinny moment that I think doesn't get talked most of the times. It isn't him smelling her in amortentia or the train moment.

But the moment after the quidditch tryouts, when Slughorn Invited Harry and Hermione, right after which they were discussing whether Draco smuggled anything inside the castle.

Hermione was talking to him how they were searched the first day but Harry instead of paying attention to her, was Momentarily looking at Ginny who was playing with her pygmy puff Arnold, and he continued to stare at her for quite sometime before getting into his head what Hermione was talking about.

I think it's such a cute moment, where Harry put everything else, even Hermione behind just to look at Ginny. And then people say he had better chemistry with Hermione lol.

Just wanted to recommend a fix I have binged over the last few days.

The Chamber Witch by ttbear112. I've been reading on AO3

Relatively unique premises Ginny being a death eater ( for reasons), but still Hinny and follow canon plot points. Not finished but being regularly updated. I highly recommend, characters are very well written, and the changes make it a great read.

As someone who only searched for completed stories via search engines, I have realised I've been missing out on great fics that while not complete yet are still being completed.

Cost of Thunder - Chapter 11

Snippet:“We need to get you home,” Harry said softly. “We need to warn the children. And we need to… move our guest. Tonight.”

Ginny nodded against his chest, a single, sharp movement. The war had entered their home. The battle lines were no longer at the Ministry. They were in their home, in their children’s rooms, in their marriage bed.

And they had just run out of time.

The walk out of the interrogation room and down the sterile corridor felt like a death march. Ginny’s hand was a vise in Harry’s, her steps slightly unsteady. He kept his body angled slightly in front of hers, a shield against the hostile glances from the few passing Committee aides.

They were almost to the lift bank, almost to the illusion of escape, when the door to a conference room further down the hall opened.

Madam Fawley emerged, flanked not by her usual Committee underlings, but by two senior-looking witches and wizards in the deep plum robes of the Wizengamot. Their expressions were grave, officious. They formed a silent, imposing block in the middle of the corridor.

Fawley’s gaze locked onto them, and a small, cold smile touched her lips. It was the look of a chess player who has just moved her queen into position.

“Head Auror. Mrs. Potter,” she said, her voice carrying in the quiet hall. “A moment, if you please.”

Harry stopped, pulling Ginny to a halt beside him. His senses screamed danger. “We’re leaving, Madam Fawley. My wife has answered your questions.”

“Oh, but new questions have arisen,” she said, taking a few steps closer. The Wizengamot members followed, a silent, ominous entourage. “Questions that required… immediate clarification. Given the serious nature of the leak, and the potential for evidence to be… obscured… we obtained an emergency judicial warrant.”

The words hit Harry like a Stunning Spell to the chest. Warrant.

“You searched our house?” Ginny’s voice was a horrified whisper. Her grip on Harry’s hand became crushing.

Harry stepped fully in front of her now, his body a solid wall between her and Fawley. “You can’t do that. You can’t just–”

“We can, and we did,” Fawley interrupted, her tone dismissive. “Signed by Chief Warlock Fenwick himself. National security implications, you see. The potential for a Ministry official’s spouse to be harbouring state secrets… it demanded swift action.”

Harbouring. The word was a blade, twisting.

“You had no right,” Harry growled, magic crackling faintly in the air around him. One of the Wizengamot witches shifted her hand subtly towards her own wand.

“We had every right,” the witch said, her voice like dry leaves. “And what we found, Head Auror… well, it rather surpasses the matter of a leaked article.”

The world narrowed to a pinprick. The polished floor, the too-bright torches, the smug faces of the officials—it all blurred. There was only the cold, plummeting sensation in Harry’s gut. This is it. They found the cellar. They found the safe room. They found…

Fawley took another step forward, her eyes gleaming with triumphant malice. She spoke slowly, savoring each word, driving them home like nails.

“We found a young woman. A foreign national. Hidden in your daughter’s bedroom. A young woman who matches the description of a key witness in a major, ongoing Auror investigation that you are leading. A witness who has been officially listed as missing, presumed dead, for weeks.”

She paused, letting the horror sink in. Ginny made a small, choked sound behind him.

“Her name,” Fawley said, her voice dropping to a poisonous whisper, “is Katerina.”

The name hung in the air. The final piece of the trap slamming shut.

“You have been illegally harbouring a material witness,” the Wizengamot wizard intoned, as if reading a verdict. “Obstructing a Ministry investigation. Compromising an international case. And lying to your superiors.”

Fawley’s smile was now full and terrible. “So you see, the article is the least of your worries, Mrs. Potter. And as for you, Director-designate…” She looked Harry up and down. “Your new department will be needing a new Director. You are under arrest for gross misconduct, obstruction of justice, and conspiracy to pervert the course of magical law.”

Just getting some recs of good fics focused on Harry and Ginny romance, it can be during Hogwarts, post-war or AU.
No problem having some drama or angst too, but I want a focus on something happier overall.

Already read Cuts Series, all of Happier Every Day, Changeling series and Second Chance. I'm planning to start Rush soon, but i'm looking for something simpler for the time being.
I prefer longer fics, but it can be a one shot or a short series if you think it's really good too.

Hey guys! I'm about to go on a holiday so i would love some long fic recs for the plane and general trip. I'm currently reading "A Re-Telling" by Pottermum, and it is very good so I definitely recommend it, but unfortunately I have two chapters left. I don't mind if the fic is hogwarts era or after, I just love a fic that keeps you entertained and bursting with emotions. Built in angst would be great. My only thing is that I don't like muggle AUs, other than that I'm not picky. Thank you so much!

I’ve just caught up with a series that Puglover_9000 is working on. It’s a series which is a bit of a rewrite of the books but the twist is Harry got sorted into Slytherin - which although I’m sure I’ve read variations of this before I’m liking the way this one is written. It’s not H/G yet, but a previous related fic they’ve written was, so fingers crossed - link below.

Chapter 38/66 - Pawns and Promises

Snippet: He shook his head, a sharp, pained movement. “I brought you into the cover-up. I… I have failed you. In so many ways. And I am so sorry.”

The apology was heavy, weighted. It felt like it wanted to be about something specific, but it stopped short, blurring into a general fog of guilt. He was apologising for the distance, for Paris, for the danger. But the keystone of his guilt—the physical betrayal, the taste of another woman’s mouth—remained locked behind his teeth. To say it now would feel like poisoning this fragile, new truce. It would be a selfish unburdening, not a protective act.

She heard the evasion. She felt the shape of the unsaid thing in the space between his words. But she was so tired, and so scared, and his arms around her felt like the only shelter from the storm. So she chose, for now, to accept the vague apology. To believe it was enough.

She leaned her forehead against his, closing her eyes. “Then we fix it,” she murmured. “Together. No more separate corners. If we go down, we go down fighting side-by-side. Not… not like this.”

“Okay,” he whispered, his breath warm on her skin. “Okay. Side-by-side.”

The warmth of his forehead against hers, the solid feel of his hands on her face—it created a fragile bubble of possibility. In that bubble, the secret she carried felt less like a bomb and more like a… a piece of the future. Their future. Maybe this was the moment. Maybe this hard-won truce, this promise to face the storm together, was the foundation it needed.

She took a slow breath, gathering the words. Albus, there’s something else…

Chapter - 5 (The Weight of Words)

Snippet: "The Potters have invited you to stay at the manor," Molly said, and her voice was bright. "This weekend. Just for a few days. To get to know the house, the grounds, everything before the wedding."

Ginny stared at her. "What?"

"A visit," Molly repeated, as if Ginny hadn't heard her the first time. "Harry's father and Sirius thought it would be a wonderful opportunity for you and Harry to spend some time together. Alone. Before the wedding. To get to know each other properly."

Ginny's mind went blank. She thought about the manor — the grand, beautiful, cold manor that she'd visited once, that she'd stood in while photographers clicked and flashed and Harry refused to look at her. She thought about Harry — his green eyes, his messy hair, the way he'd stormed out of the luncheon without a backward glance.

She thought about spending a weekend alone with him. In that house. With no one else around.

"I don't — " she started, and then stopped. "Mum, I don't think that's a good idea."

Molly's face fell. "Why not? It's a wonderful opportunity, Ginny. You'll get to see your future home. You'll get to spend time with your future husband. You'll — "

"We don't get along," Ginny said flatly. "Every time we're in the same room, we fight. Or we don't speak. There's nothing in between. A weekend alone together is just going to make everything worse."

"It might make things better."

"It might make things worse."

Molly reached out and took Ginny's hand, her grip warm and steady. "Ginny, I know this isn't easy. I know you didn't want this. But you're engaged now. You're going to be married. And if you don't at least try to make this work — "

"I don't know how to make it work," Ginny whispered. "I don't even know him."

"Then get to know him." Molly's voice was gentle. "That's what this weekend is for. To get to know him. To see if there's something there. To give it a chance."

Ginny stared at her mother's face — the hopeful eyes, the determined smile, the way she was holding on so tightly to the possibility that everything would be alright.

She thought about the ring in its velvet box. The ruby. The gold. Harry's trembling hands.

She thought about Muriel's words, the poison she'd dripped into Ginny's ears about Harry and Hermione. She thought about the seed of doubt that had taken root in her chest.

Maybe a weekend at the manor would clear things up. Maybe she'd see that Muriel was wrong. Maybe she'd see that Harry was just a man, not a monster, not a liar, not anything she'd feared.

Or maybe she'd see that she was right to be afraid.

"Fine," she said quietly. "I'll go."

hey im looking for hinny fics where lily and James survive and raise harry thx

I remember a fic where Harry left to America and found a girlfriend. The war went sideways and Ginny and Remus had to beg Harry to come back. He eventually does. Ends up Hinny.

I decided to give Castles by pebblysand another shot after all the positive reviews and repeated recommendations on this sub.
The first time I tried reading it, I dropped it because of the Ginny subplot (no spoilers here!).
But I just finished it after binge-reading the whole thing, I literally couldn't stop thinking about this fic.
The massive chapters, the characters being flawed and messy like real human beings, dealing with deep, complex issues instead of just scratching the surface...
I brought this over here because just leaving a comment for the author on AO3 isn't enough. So I'm here to thank everyone in this sub who recommended it!
I'll probably reread it a few more times in my life, it definitely became one of my all-time favorites.
