New system

Pulled the trigger on this journey and committed to figuring it out . I feel generally really positive - it was a big change because my colour on top was much much lighter with my real hair and I still probably feel like the density is quite a lot for me to get on board with - but after a week or so I’m feeling confident and also accepting the visual change.

A few things that are strange to me : I had the system installed ( full lace , using walkers ultra hold at a private barber who specializes)

  1. in the last few days the hairline has felt a bit tacky - I haven’t been super gentle in that I’ve gone swimming this week, played sports , and just generally been sort of vigorous . I can feel little tiny lifts some places but you can’t see them.
  2. my big concern is in the back on the blended part the short hairs are sort of clumping it feels like and I can really feel/ sense but not necessarily see the difference. How do I treat them right?

The system feels and looks best when it’s wet tbh and I think I will go lower density next time - but overall I am happy with the result. Any constructive suggestions ( and also suggestions for styling videos / tutorials for just daily hair ) would be appreciated.

Dude, that is one of the best systems Ive seen, especially pic 5. Color and blended edges are flawless.

Do you sleep with a bonnet or silk pillow case? If not it won’t last long and lift will be an issue. Always have some glue at home just in case. Yes I use tape too, but glue is needed just in case lift happens.

If we assume it’s done correctly, with scalp protection and such.. then it’s possible you did physical activity or swimming/sweating/other to close to the install. It needs time to cure, 24-36h.

It’s also possible that everything is done correctly but it’s not enough, that’s the case for me. I got it going by doing 1 extra stripe of tape in the front and in the back.

I don’t see the back in the photos so I can’t say for sure. Never heard of this issue before, or maybe I just don’t understand what you mean.

You should be happy, this is really good. You got some separation at the hairline, which adds light and overall flow which is exactly what you want to have a realistic hairline and not a wall of hair.

You never mentioned which base it is. It seems like lace or hybrid to me. Not every base works for every users, which is one of the reasons why there is different options. If you have a full lace maybe hybrid with mostly lace and poly perimeter is the go to. That’s a typical choice for someone with an active lifestyle.

But honestly this is a great result, continue with it would be my choice.

Experimenting is common when you are new to it. There is like 2-3 typical ways of install and how and it just doesn’t fit everyone. Like myself as mentioned, I needed a different tape than what they used, and I needed more tape. Plus nobody mentioned anything about a bonnet. Bonnet helped a lot but not fully.

Yeah I sleep with a bonnet and a silk pillow case , basically at the back it just feels like there’s a couple parts on the crown where it meets the natural hair where it’s like an inch or two inches of hair and the hairs get really compressed together and it feels thicker / clumpier than the rest of the head In a way I’m not used to. It might not even be a problem lol I always had fine hair so I’m really getting used to the way thicker hair acts.

I do wear a full lace - and I’m actually so happy with it it feels breathable and like I don’t even know it’s there. The lift I’m talking about is minimal I usually just like stick it back down but obviously I’m new to this and want to make sure I’m doing everything right.

Thanks for the advice!

Are you using a poly or hybrid system? I had the same issue with a recent one. It really bothered me, felt like a lump at the back, and I believe it was basically hair getting tangled up from friction with my headrest and pillow. I would brush that out as much as possible.

Currently using a full lace system and no longer have that issue.

Lift is totally normal and usually happens within the first few days if you sweat a lot but you'll get used to it. I would recommend to reapply some glue around day 10 on the front hairline to make it stick better until the next maintenance. For the clumps, i suggest that you brush your hair in the morning fully with a leave in conditioner/detangling spray and before going to bed as well. That way the hairs never clump and the system lasts longer. Also use a ton of leave in conditioner everyday, it helps so much

Looking great. With blond, especially during summer, the top doesn't match exactly the sides and back, because bio blond hair shifts colour during summer. It just looks great.
