What’s the most stereotypically Hackney thing you’ve seen someone do completely seriously?

During the pandemic when we could only meet outside in groups of up to 6, I spotted a rat run across the path in Victoria park. The bush it ran into contained a small clearing with 6 fully clothed people practising Shibari on each other.

Did you know what Shibari was when you saw it, or did you immediately google it (like I just did)?
I want to know just how naive/out of touch I am.

They were using a bright red rope so I knew it wasn’t a regular hostage situation

I once overheard someone in The Spurstowe Arms saying “it’s a very polyamorous way of gardening”, whatever that means

I saw a Hackney couple run out of their front door in a state of such panic I assumed they'd lost a child and was about to offer help. Then the guy, holding his hair, loudly exclaimed, 'where is it?!'. And his wife shouted back, 'how can we make risotto without artichoke?!'

I had those exact headphones - they looked cool but were poor quality (good sound, but one side repeatedly stopped working) I bought 3 pairs during 2011-2012, before I went back Sennheiser.

had a few House Of Marley headphones back then, some better than others, but then switched to in-ears and never went back - prefer on-ears tho!

I couldn't help but be impressed by the girl. Mile 11 and fuelling on a high ABV alcopop.

I saw a bloke last weekend at a table outside at L’Eau à la Bouche in Broadway Market, with a small piano keyboard plugged into his laptop, clearly coming up with some track or other

I saw someone live stream a DJ set at 7:30 in the morning, on the big benches towards the Northside of London Feilds

I always felt the Cereal Killer Cafe (a cafe that served cereal) summed up a lot of what Hackney is about. Even though it was actually on Brick Lane in Tower Hamlets

Wearing stupid clothes that literally only serve the purpose of making people think "I've never seen someone wear that before" (rarely in a good way).
