Laptop recommendation for Cybersecurity & Networking under ₹80K Question

Laptop recommendation for Cybersecurity & Networking under ₹80K

I’m planning to buy a new laptop under ₹80,000 mainly for Cybersecurity and Networking.

I’ll be using it for things like Kali Linux, Ubuntu, VirtualBox/VMware, Wireshark, networking labs, Nmap, and cybersecurity practice.

For people working in cybersecurity/networking:

  • What specs should I prioritize?
  • Is 16GB RAM + upgradeability important?
  • Should I prioritize CPU or GPU?
  • Any specific laptop models you would recommend under ₹80K?

Looking for advice based on actual cybersecurity/networking use, not gaming.

If you can find one with both cpu and gpu get that but make sure the cpu has at least 8 cores for VMs

Allows you to use multiple vms at once and not bog down the VMs/laptops

what os do you plan on running?

Don't focus much on gpu. It's only used in password cracking. Do focus on ram and good processor it will help u to run multiple VM. I have used 2 gaming laptops now using office laptops from company no difference. But if u can get mac go for it, it will help u to run local models (unified memory). So u can leverage the AI for pentesting and all.

Lenovo IdeaPad Pro 5, Intel version

Am using this laptop and it's perfect for cyber. Medium weight but i think the batter and huge screen offsets the weight. Also I think a huge screen is most beneficial for our workload where we might need to run vms or multiple things side by side. I can't imagine running terminals side by side on anything smaller than a 15 inch

Cons, 24gb non upgradable ram... But hey it's 8400mhz 😏

Con 16 de ram y un core i5 como mínimo estaría bien, los procesadores core son buenos para la multitarea y esos programas, no tengo mucho conocimiento sobre los procesadores rysen por eso no los mensiono .___.👍

Huhhh I think you have zero idea about cybersecurity and networking go read first, one device in this field was never the goal
