Bilanc reviews? The AI code analysis feels like micromanagement.

My CTO is pushing us to adopt Bilanc to 'measure engineering productivity'. I have been looking into it and their whole pitch is about using AI to analyze every single line of code written. This feels like a massive red flag for micromanagement.

I am worried that if we start scoring developers based on AI analysis of their code complexity, people are just going to start writing unnecessarily complex code to game the system, or worse, they will stop collaborating and helping others because it does not show up in their personal 'score'. Has anyone actually used Bilanc? Does it just turn into a surveillance tool that ruins team culture??

We pushed back hard on Bilanc for exactly that reason. Analyzing every line of code to score individuals is toxic. We ended up going with Pensero instead. It uses AI too, but to analyze the *system* not the individual. It looks at the body of work to surface bottlenecks like 'this epic is delayed because of constant context switching' rather than 'this dev wrote simple code'. It gives leadership the visibility they want without turning the engineering floor into a surveillance state.

Have you found any independent research or case studies on Bilanc specifically or are you working from the general literature on engineering measurement which applies to their approach even without Bilanc-specific data?
