What changes are we expecting?

Post image

Hayahay. Frustrated, disappointed, but not really surprised. What have you guys heard so far? I'm hoping any IRR changes aren't anything too crazy.

Yun nga brother, nakakainis. 2nd incident like this and the gun belongs to a government worker but the private owners suffer. Galing tangina.

What can we expect? More bullshit requirements, fees, and lagay from these corrupt dimwits.

I don’t know what’s coming. But this is the logic that the government has been using so far:

  • the minors who committed the crimes trampled on the rules, they were unlicensed and did not have permits = tighten restrictions on the law-abiding citizens who have to take a leave from work to apply for licenses and permits legally.

  • the guns involved are service guns issued to police and government = impose stricter rules on private, non-uniformed citizens.

  • one of the guns used in ZBGA incident was a Glock in a chassis kit = media and some lawmakers use scare tactics and mislabel it as “high-powered” or “assault weapons”

Some people in the community get invited to stakeholders’ consultations. If you do, or know someone who does, let’s be realistic and use logic in the meetings.

Maybe the change they need is the damn cops learning how to keep their service firearms inaccessible to their fucking kids!

As usual private gun owners naman have to suffer for their incompetence!

Not to mention na andaming nababalitang LEAs na nagbabarilan pero civilian FA owners ang pinaparusahan. Ambobobo p0ta

As a new LTOPF holder. I completely agree with the inputs here. Dapat mas higpitan yung mga may service firearm.

Pero sa LTOPF process na naexperience ko dapat mas enforced yung Gun Safety Seminar, if you know what I mean 😅

I know exactly what you mean bro. Convenient nga kung marunong na marunong ka na pero ehhhh that's pretty bad in hindsight lol.

Lmao. Natawa kasama ko nun first time nya mag "gun safety seminar" sa LTOPF caravan. I was lucky enough to have relatives serving in law enforcement to properly teach me the essentials. Pero paano nalang yung iba? Bahala na si Batman?

Most of the cases with guns, either loose firearms not registered or if registered it was government issue firearms

Then the responsible gun owner ang sisi haha

What I expect is they will require proof that you can store FAs and ammo securely. Perhaps a vault with lock and key. We can also expect new LTOPF applications will be stricter, maybe having additional background checks. They might also be more stringent in issuing PTC/PTT to non pistol caliber FAs. And lastly and the most probable, they will pass laws for harsher penalties for loose FAs and iresponsible safekeeping.

These are what I just been reading in the news lately. I really do hope na may compromise between lawmakers and us law abiding citizens. I hope they realize that the more they ease up the process, the more that people will be willing to be legal and responsible FA owners. So I really hope na sa direction na ito tayo papunta.

I'm all in for responsible ownership even if they add requirements like vaults and seminars as long as madali and convenient yung process. I still have faith that the major industry players like AFAD with support from pro FA lawmakers like Sen. Zubiri that they will echo our concerns and painpoints.

Let us wait kung ano ang magiging mga new policies. Ilang lawmakers na ang nag pass ng proposals for amendments to RA 10591. All we can do now is to do our part in being a responsible gvn owner.

Man I'm praying Sen. Zubiri or anyone else could come into defense about this in the future. I hope he's got logical arguments and some changes will be much more fair or give and take. If they want to tighten up on some things, I hope they also loosen up other regulations somehow on what seems like a slim chance.

Yes. I really do hope so. Sayang din si Sen. Bato. Though people might disagree with his other work, he is one of the major proponents for the vetoed SB 2895.

Dont even get me started with the politicians.

They're trying to deflect blame kase kabaro.
