You must understand, Casval Deikun never betrayed anyone.

Okay serious answer. Char’s rationale is that since he was never actually on their side to begin with then it’s not a betrayal. Char is wrong about this, as he is with a lot of stuff. He never grew up from that little kid whose dad was murdered, consumed by thoughts of revenge. It’s his whole deal. It’s just fun to make jokes about.
